So the time has come.... Since I started doing small events like this, Ive always wanted to do one in or around home. To me the Comeragh Mountains are exactly that. If Im honest, when I was growing up, I probably didnt appreciate such a stunning place. I saw the mountains so much I took it for granted. It wasnt until I left Rathgormack and the amazing view that I missed it. The beautiful walks, the lakes, the streams and rivers. The mountains and locality, the people, the animals and the produce that put me on the path to my career as a chef. Still to this day my family farms the land in and around the hills. One family member in particular is still sending sheep out to graze the mountains each year, as his father did, and as my great grandfather did before him. Its a special place to me. Proved by the fact that I asked my beautiful wife to marry me at the base of Mahon Falls. Join myself and Mary Flynn on the 13th July for a feast of local produce cooked in foothills of the Comeraghs, at Nells Cottage, using fire and smoke from mountain oak. I am especially looking forward to Marys traditional pot baked bread from the 1850s original open fire place , served with hand churned butter from Marys own cows. Today is my birthday; its that moment in life to look back and appreciate and value all the things that Ive accomplished. Its been a weird/hard 2020, but instead of focusing on the negative stuff, Id rather pay attention to the positive and great things that have happened this year. Dear Friends, Family, and Black Restaurant Patronizing Guest of The SBPF. Im a black man, not a front man that OWNS TSBPF. Unfortunately, I dont have time to sit in a restaurant waving as guest come in. My goal for the TSBPF from the beginning was to open one and many others as a franchise and thats exactly what Im doing. Im presently in another state right now meeting and looking for new franchise opportunities. My goal was never to sit in a restaurant and micromanage. Ive systematically built a team to handle my day to day operations. I have partners in place strategically, to handle the business accountability. I was taught by my many mentors that own or owned franchises how to put systems and people in place, in order to run a successful business without having to helicopter around team members. My absolute goal when I built TSBPF on paper was to eventually sell it off for $600 million dollars. I signed a franchise deal months ago, and that plan is very much in place today. Hello again everyone. It has been absolutely amazing to see the outpouring of love for Pergl here. Your messages are bringing comfort to all who were close with him. I want to answer some of your many questions. First, I want to be clear that this was NOT Covid related. He had a heart attack and some other complications that his body just couldnt recover from. Next, there will absolutely be a celebration of his life when all is better in the world and we are able to gather together again. It will be announced here on IG for all of you just as he wished it to be. The good thing is that we have plenty of time to plan something great with some things that he requested for the occasion and will give plenty of time for those who need to make travel arrangements to do so. At this time flowers or donations are not necessary. Please save that for later. We will have clear details of what to do and where to donate when you we make that announcement. Finally, people have been asking about his family @ryann_lehman is his niece and has been the rock through all of this. So, almost FOUR YEARS AGO, August 2016, I competed on another show.... it was a new one and in fact, I was in the first episode of filming. In a whirlwind 36 hours, I flew from Philly to L.A., Ubered right to the studio, filmed and Ubered back to the airport. Then the typical waiting for an air date. After a year, I pretty much figured they weren’t airing the series. But just found out the other day that after 4 years the wait was over and that @hulu picked the show up. I have thought long and hard about how I wanted to re-enter this space. During this pandemic and with the closing of my restaurant I had the privilege of being home with my family, safe and healthy. Not all have been so fortunate. As a chef, my heart has broken for so many fellow restaurants that have been forced to close indefinitely and in some cases permanently, the life work of so many wondering how to feed their families and what their future holds. It has been inconceivable. Most importantly though, are the lives lost to this virus, the families torn apart and the unthinkable sorrow of losing someone that you can’t even see to say goodbye. So what can I do as a Chef? And what can we do as a restaurant? How can we make a meaningful contribution? On August 1, Addison will reopen anew. On our secret rooftop space overlooking the serene Penasquitos Canyon, a privilege I do not take for granted. I am blessed to generously space tables in an extraordinary open air setting, with views to dream about. I know that not everyone is so lucky or so fortunate and I do not take this privilege for granted. We have learned many lessons during this time. And above all, that our health is truly our greatest wealth. And I believe that food is medicine. Un trabajo de verano en un restaurante cambió su destino y se matriculó en la Escuela Culinaria CECSA en Caracas. El viaje de Ricardo con la cocina francesa comenzó cuando se unió a Le Gourmet en el hotel InterContinental Tamanaco en Caracas, Venezuela.
