These are super difficult because they kept getting caught on my leg lol. - This week has been quite crazy with figuring out how to balance full time job and full time school and full time mommy and getting to the gym. I’d like to touch on the subject of proper form and how important it really is. I notice a lot of people when they’re starting off try to lift heavier weight than they should therefore causing bad form. When you’re using proper form you’re less likely to injure yourself and on top of that you will see better results. - Don’t let your ego get ahead of you and drop that weight I guarantee you will feel great. Some days I feel amazing and can lift really heavy with proper form but at times my body isn’t well rested or properly nurtured which means I can’t lift as much. - This superset was a part of my leg day and let me just tell you although I went with lighter weight I was wobbling out the gym 😅 1️⃣Straight Leg Deadlift 5 sets:12-15 reps 💢Superset with ⬇️ 2️⃣Lying Leg Curls 5 sets:12-15 reps - If you notice on the deadlifts my back is straight and I maintain control throughout every rep. 💪🏽 - If you have any questions just DM me and we’ll go from there! Skwot Sunday! Always a good day when I get to squat 😁. Bumped up to 205lbs for tempo 8’s and very happy with how things are moving. Bigger weights mean bigger strength, and bigger smiles. Now on to meal prep and cleaning house! You may have noticed the comp rack moved lol Played garage gym Tetris earlier this week and switched the placement of the comp rack and the belt squat. Garage floors have a slope (more significant in the back half), and the comp rack was sitting with a 15* difference from one side to the other. Not terribly safe to be squatting (or benching) on an uneven surface like that, especially when going for heavy top end weights, so a little switcheroo fixed it. Pretty happy with how my training has been going over the last 4 weeks of being back in the gym. Ive been able to add 5 to 10 pounds to the bar each week for sets of 6 to 8 reps, soreness has been minimal, and technique is starting to feel smooth again. Ive lost the most strength on the squat, which was surprising considering how much high-intensity dumbbell front squatting and lunging I did during the lockdown, but my last squat session finally felt right, so I should be able to regain a lot of what I lost. How much whole-body strength I can regain will remain to be seen, however, as I weigh about 9 pounds less now than before the lockdown (fat not muscle loss). vou deixar aqui essa imagem de 2014 pra falar de uma parada que eu to louca pra fazer textão. atividade física é uma coisa relativamente nova na minha vida (6 anos). Eu era 100% sedentária e como vcs devem saber eu tenho asma tbm, o que não me incentivava a começar algo tbm. Em 2014 descobri o Crossfit e fiquei obcecada, fui fazer educação física e todo o pacote completo. O que aconteceu ali pra mim foi que eu ganhei capacidade de fazer coisas e pensar em atividades que antes eram impossíveis pra mim (o Crossfit tbm me deu uma esposa mas isso não vem ao caso agora). Viajar e conseguir passear andando era uma coisa horrível, decidir fazer por um dia alguma coisa diferente era impossível. Agora eu consigo ir escalar pra ver como é, jogar beach tênis com meus amigos, fazer yoga, andar de bike com o pai da li, acompanhar minha mãe na musculação que ela finge que não gosta, ir no box que ela treina pra provar pras amigas dela que eu consigo levantar peso, participar de um campeonato de LPO pra ganhar a primeira medalha da minha vida e o que mais surgir. Tem diversas coisas q eu não gosto de fazer, tipo correr, e eu não me obrigo nem um pouco, até onde eu sei eu não sou atleta de nada então me dou esse direito de só fazer o q me deixa feliz e me motiva. Hit 221 deadlift and 108 OHP at a bwt of 69. It has been the month from hell for me, leave alone this week, and this total is beyond what I thought possible when I started prepping for this event. Literally would not have been achievable without @cerberus_australia and their amazing equipment keeping me together. And @alignfitnessandmassage allowing myself and @wrstrongman to brutalise Olympic lifting and use their beautiful facility after a competition to attempt our OHP submission. I believe the saying is, “BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS...I PUT BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS INTO THIS.” ———————————————— In the case of powerlifting, some people will say “blood sweat and tears” but complain about the gym being “ToO hOt”. Afraid to actually BLEED or will complain about someone else bleeding. And will be “too tough” to actually shed tears in the gym, on the platform, at home or even AT WORK out of frustration/angst/pain/joy/relief/whatever. After having abdominal surgery earlier this year @laurensimpson started working with @thebodybuildingphysio to safely reintroduce lifting back into her program. The program begun with ensuring the movement patterns were correct without any load and safely increasing intensity each week. Lauren’s previous best squat was 155kg so getting back to 100kg x 3 was a milestone in the rehab program. These are the results you can achieve if you adhere to the plan and trust the process! Sometimes I’ll get ppl ask me if I’ll compete in powerlifting again Honestly.. I don’t think so for the time being. I just don’t have the same spark for it that I used to. I’ve been going back and fourth about it for ages (last 2 years) and honestly it just isn’t as much of a passion compared to before, when I lived and breathed it. I still love the sport - it changed my life and allowed me to grow a lot as a person - It taught me sacrifice, discipline, showed me how much was possible if I really put my mind to it, and gave me a taste of what it really meant to give 1000% of your heart and energy into something. In my last year in the u23, I swore I’ll never be one of those ppl who go into the open and then disappear or quit the sport. I guess everyone has their own path, and in my case I went down the path of growing a fitness and business consulting business which, today, has changed hundreds of lives as well as given my team members full time jobs where they can work from anywhere. powerlifting organically just took a backseat, something I tried to fight for ages because I didn’t wanna fully let it go. But I don’t see myself ever competing or participating in the sport as intensely as I used to. I’m still doing powerlifting type training at the gym. But for now, I’ll be hanging up my powerlifting belt (next to my medals 😈) Massive respect to everyone I ever met in powerlifting and those who are still participating in the sport But for now ..Brb, platform. Small Manageable Chunks 9 weeks ago I set myself the goal of squatting 160kg for 10 reps. I wrote myself a 12 week training plan and this week I completed my goal 3 weeks early. In week 1 my top set was 140kgx3. I put my success down to 3 main things 1- Having a log book, it’s the first time I’ve tracked the weights I’ve lifted in years and years. Knowing what I had to beat each week to progress was imperative. 2-Prioritising my recovery - I only trained 3 days a week, and squatted once a week. My body was able to adapt and recover from the stimulus compared to my usual 5/6 days a week 3- i was 100% confident I could achieve it - it scared me, I got nervous before my top sets but when it was time to perform I had 100% confidence in my ability to execute. There is no room for hesitation or self doubt. Strength training is like fat loss, break it down into small manageable chunks, i had to squat 160 once before I could do it 10x, if you have 40lbs of fat to lose, start with 4, then 10 etc etc. Celebrate the mini victories along the way, they soon add up! I DIDN’T FEEL CONFIDENT in MY BARBELL SQUATS One of my favorite quarantine past times early on was watching Youtube videos of one fitness industry figure known for his calisthenic workouts. 95% of his programs are bodyweight only, but one clip captured him talking about and then performing some very horribly executed barbell squats. It was a clear example of an expert falsely portraying authority in something that he had no actual mastery of. 🤨 Fortunately, his audience was aware enough to recognize this was clearly NOT how to correctly and safely squat. They ripped him apart in the comments. Watching that video made me get honest with myself. Did I feel confident enough to film and post my own barbell squats? Nope. They felt uncomfortable, I wasn’t achieving the depth I desired and I wasn’t progressing. I considered myself CHECKED and found a coach. (didnt I just say I was AWAKE AF?) 💡 Coach @kenplantbeast at @criticalmassnj rebuilt my squat by #1, changing the bar placement to align with my mechanics, #2 giving me cues that connect #3 progressive overload Sharing with you here my progress over 6 weeks. We ended this phase capping out at 165 lb x 5 reps (that’s a PR for me). My squats feel more natural, my body is adapting and I can execute them with confidence thanks to my coach. Lesson #1: Be brutally honest with yourself Lesson #2: Add value to yourself. A great coach is worth the investment. Stoked to continue with my next 6 week phase. example how I structure a lower body training session learned from @stephane.cazeault we start with primary exercises (a series) these are movements that engage the most muscles and are the most taxing on the body. Die meisten, oder einige von ihnen trainieren in Leggings und Sport BH, wer schaut da nicht? Würde ein Mann Oberkörperfrei trainieren, würden sie wahrscheinlich genauso schauen - zumindest wenn er attraktiv ist, aber selbst wenn nicht schaut man einfach. Ich meine, schauen wir Frauen denn nicht? Viele argumentieren dann, ja schon.. ABER ich möchte als Frau trainieren, ohne von Männern ständig angeschaut zu werden und mir sollte keiner vorschreiben, dass ich nicht in Leggings und Sport BH trainieren darf. In meinen Augen sollte jeder tragen dürfen was er möchte, aber dann auch diese Blicke in kauf nehmen und diese akzeptieren. Dabei sollte man definitiv von Blicken und gaffen unterscheiden!! (Ich meine hier nur ganz normale Blicke) Eine Frau, die attraktiv ist, wird auch auf der Straße angeschaut, warum sollte dies im Fitnessstudio dann nicht legitim sein? Viele Frauen fühlen sich unwohl dabei, weshalb es auch in einigen Studios extra Frauenbereiche gibt. Letztlich denke ich eine Frau sollte selbstbewusst auftreten, sich definitiv für niemanden verstellen. Die Blicke in Kauf nehmen und als Kompliment ansehen. ABER: wenn es zu weit geht und gegafft wird oder sonstiges, dies definitiv melden. Had a lot of people keeping me alive during this prep. A week of unthinkable progress was often followed by a week of not making it through my warmups. It was a trek to say the least, and I guess I had hoped that everything would somehow magically fall into place as it sometimes has. Words can’t describe how this first competition went. It has been a very long time since I felt these game time butterflies, and man does it feel good to be back. I have a lot of work to do, but I can’t be mad about how the first one went down. Weighed in 2kg under weight, Squatted a lifetime PR, and missed first place by a hair after missing the last deadlift. Yesterday didn’t go completely as planned but it was still able to put up some numbers that I’m proud of. Got 1st in weight class and 1st in deads. -Squats: opened with 275 and ended with 325 -Bench: opened with 170, second and third attempt was 192. -Deadlift: opened with 330, second attempt 363, and failed with 402. 473x3 and 451x3 on my two top sets on partial to full deadlifts from yesterday (1 partial + 1 full = 1 rep). Officially been a powerlifter for a year. Been a wild 365 days. This first meet was a lot of fun and a performed pretty well for what my goals were at the time, but those goals have changed quite drastically since. ••• Squat: 9/7/19: 727 Current PR: 855 Bench: 9/7/19: 479 Current PR: 530 Deadlift: 9/7/19: 738 Current PR: 755 ••• At my first meet I squatted without knee sleeves (had never worn them before), made a game time switch to arms “in” on squat even though I had never used a combo rack in my life and other lifter’s coaches had to help me, and went 1/3 on bench because I didn’t know I had to keep my heels on the ground. No matter what life throws at me. I’ll always have my lifting. Whether I’m having the happiest day or the saddest, this makes it even better. I’m so proud of myself and lifting has giving me an outlet to do that. I know this may be a relatively common sense statement but a press should be the most deliberate movement you do in the gym. A push is single channeled act of unadulterated aggression. Think about the practical usage of a push.. its to put distance between you and a threat.. so why would you treat your bench press any different. Learn to be deliberately aggressive with your press.. push yourself away create space in the most explosive way possible. Heavy dumbbells heavy close grip movements shit that will scare you a bit. Grab those 100s even if you can do 2 reps learn to press with speed, violence and momentum.. most people who struggle with bench 1. Lack pressing power just pure explosive potential or 2. Stability lack of coordination and control which breeds apprehensive tendencies and or fear Do that and a large bench will follow. 2X2 with 575 (24lb PR double) to end deadlifts this training block. Back in November of 2019, I blacked out on my third attempt with 572 at the American barbell club meet. In February, I got it for my third attempt at the hybrid showdown. Today I doubled 3 pounds above that number twice. A lot can happen in a year as long as you do everything with intent. I’m really wondering how training will be a few months down the road. Assuming I don’t eat like a fat shit again (@phamismfit please hold my hand lmao) I should ideally be putting myself in a position for PR’s across SBD early next year. Sumo finally feels comfortable again, and that’s what I’ll be sticking with for my comp style. Yes, I mean that this time 😂 I took some time comparing my 617 opener from last March and the first 606 single from the other week, and I think I’m finally in a good spot considering I’m 10lbs lighter and clearly not peaked. Crossfit för mig är det som får mig att fortsätta träna! Ja när jag började träna då va jag lärd som alla andra PTs var musklerna satt. Hur man rörde och tränade dom musklerna. Sen tränade man dom i maskiner. Typ split pass. Rygg och biceps. Bröst och triceps. Mage. Cardio ja osv. Fyyyyyyyyyy fan va tråkigt. Ett halvår in som PT och min träningskarriär. Så kände jag hur tråkigt det va. Jag dog av tristess i maskinerna. Ja menar hallå så enformigt och outvecklade 🙄 Men sen hittade jag marklyft, knäböj och tillslut gymnastik och olympiska lyft och sen blev det naturligt att börja med crossfit. En mera idrottsspecifik träningsform. Jag hade absolut en fördel av att jag hade jobbat i maskiner innan då jag hade kontakt med mina muskler och va stark i överkroppen och benen vilket är ett plus i crossfit. Så missförstå mig rätt! Att börja i maskiner och jobba med basrörelser är superbra till en start och även rehab samt bygga muskler tärning. Men jag skulle slutat träna om jag inte fortsatte utveckla mig vidare. Så se till att alltid vara nyfiken. Jobba med mer än bara maskiner. Jobba med kroppsligt. Jobba mot gravitationen oxå! Stimulerar mera hjärna och är mera likt din vardag! Då vi alltid rör oss mot gravitationen. Så fortsätt ha nyfikenhet och testa nytt. Våga misslyckas för att i längden lyckas. Had a fun workout today and worked up to 782 (355KG), mainly just focused on form and efficiency. It was kind of a mind F*** to me that this kind of weight is no longer a struggle, just two years ago I finally broke the 800 barrier in competition and that was 4 years after pulling 700 for the first time. This sport is all about consistency and your daily habits honestly, for the last 6 years I’ve trained 4-5 days a week consistently and ate 5-6 times a day and never faltered except for military breaks that were out of my control. All the little things will add up and make you better in the long run, just be patient and don’t take any short cuts to get better.
