Today I did; 100 ski erg calories seated 100 air bike calories 2 arms 1 leg 50 ski erg calories seated 50 air bike calories 2 arms 1 leg A ripper workout and one to try whether injured or not! Heres your teaser for ankle stability in skiers training..... ⛷️ Before we train functional use, we need to make sure there is enough STRENGTH in the muscles to handle that training. ⛷️ Unless youre a regular trail runner or jumping athlete, you could probably use some strengthening of the calf and the muscles on either side of the ankle: the peroneals and posterior tibialis!! These muscles help stabilize the sides of the ankle. ⛷️ We also need to make sure these muscles can perform to a high level EVEN WHEN FATIGUED! Start your ankle stability training by doing some heel raises.... But kick them up a notch to increase work and demand from the other muscles! ⛷️ Loop a band around your right ankle, and attach it to an anchor to your left. Stand on one leg, and do small heel pulses with a good amount of tension on the band. You will not only feel your calf working, but the muscles on the outside will burn!!! 🔥. Do high reps to fatigue the muscles. ⛷️ Turn around so now the anchor is to your right and the band is coming from the other direction. Repeat the small heel raises for a burn in the muscles on the inside!! Then switch the feet! ⛷️ Your calves should feel properly burned out after this!!! ⛔ ANKLE MOBILITY⛔ 🎥Shown in this series of videos are a bunch of different ways to mobilize your ankle and improve your range of motion! The ankle is one of the hardest joints to gain/regain mobility in, IMO largely due to the fact that people don’t USE their new range of motion with daily activities. 🤦♂️For example, many people spend 10minutes doing a lot of these exercises in the video, but then when they get up and walk, THEY DON’T USE THEIR NEW RANGE OF MOTION. Its not just walking, its going up/down stairs, squatting in the gym, using the rower, etc. In order to maintain range of motion, you NEED TO USE IT. 👌And using it doesnt just mean a couple minutes of lunges and goblet squats after your mobility work. Its changing your gait and using your full range of motion like shown in the video clips. Its not turning your foot out and compensating through your midfoot and overpronating (ie never using your pure ankle dorsiflexion mobility). Its continually using your new range of motion throughout the day. 🕐Mobility work NEEDS repetition. 📚🔬 Taping for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome ℹ️ℹ️ BACKGROUND: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is characterized by anterior knee pain and/or pain in the retro-patellar and/or peri-patellar region. ℹ️ Pain typically increases with activities such as: Squatting. Kneeling. Stair climbing. Prolonged sitting. ℹ️ The underlying causes of PFPS are multifactorial and may be associated with biomechanical and or neurophysiological changes at the pelvis, hip, knee or ankle regions. ℹ️ Taping is frequently used as part of the multi-modal management for PFPS, including: McConnell Patellofemoral Joint Taping (PFJT). Tibial Internal Rotation Limitation Taping (TIRLT). ℹ️ Clifford et al. (2020), investigated the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping on perceived pain and lower limb kinematics during a lunge and single leg squat (SLS) in people with PFPS. 🔬🔬 METHODS: This cross-sectional study compared the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping, on knee pain and lower limb kinematics during two pain-provoking movements in people with PFPS. 🔬 Participants with PFPS (n = 23) performed a lunge and SLS under three randomised conditions: TIRLT, PFJT and no taping. 🔬 The Codamotion system captured and analysed lower limb kinematic data in the sagittal, transverse and coronal planes. 🔬 Peak knee pain intensity during the movement was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). 📊📊 RESULTS: Participants reported significantly less pain with the TIRLT and PFJT techniques compared with no tape during the lunge and SLS. 📊 There was no evidence of altered lower limb kinematics accompanying pain reductions with either taping technique. ✅✅ CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Both forms of taping may be useful adjuncts as the short-term benefit of pain relief may enable participation in more active forms of rehabilitation. 🧠🧠 Thoughts? Leg Day! - Ive had a lot of you ask me about my workouts, so Ive started posting them with my photos (SWIPE ----) - The summary posted just shows my best set in each exercise. As Ive mentioned before, I try to do 3-5 sets of at least 10 reps, and go to failure each time. Failure means to go until you can no longer do any more reps. Best Set is calculated by weight lifted × reps; its not necessarily the heaviest weight lifted. - When a full set of 10 is easily achieved, failure can mean adding more weight, or doing more reps at the same weight. I tend to do legs twice per week; one day is heavier weight, less reps, the other day is lighter weight, less variations, and more reps. - Theres not necessarily a wrong way to work out, unless your form is off, or youre jerking the weights too fast; this can cause bad habits and/or injury. My workouts are not necessarily perfect, but for those asking, it at least gives a guideline of how you can do it. - I also do isolation exercises, which means, focusing on a smaller muscle group, or in this case, a single leg. Pretty happy with how my training has been going over the last 4 weeks of being back in the gym. Ive been able to add 5 to 10 pounds to the bar each week for sets of 6 to 8 reps, soreness has been minimal, and technique is starting to feel smooth again. Ive lost the most strength on the squat, which was surprising considering how much high-intensity dumbbell front squatting and lunging I did during the lockdown, but my last squat session finally felt right, so I should be able to regain a lot of what I lost. How much whole-body strength I can regain will remain to be seen, however, as I weigh about 9 pounds less now than before the lockdown (fat not muscle loss). Shouldnt make a huge difference, but well see. Next week, Ill deload and get back into BBLS 2.0. Have any questions? Lemme know below! - @muscleforlifefitness on Instagram

I purposely kept weight fairly light to avoid injury here before the competition. I also used some self tanner over the weekend so I can see how things are looking with a little color.
