Teraz, gdy już nie ma tam w środku dzieciątka, to wszystko potrzebuje czasu, aby wrócić do stanu sprzed. I najlepsze, co możemy dla siebie zrobić, to dać sobie ten czas. __ Na zdjęciu widzicie mój poporodowy brzuszek po jednym (zdjęcie 1 i 2), trzech (zdjęcie 3 i 4) i dziewięciu dniach (zdjęcie 5) po porodzie. I’ve been shelling in a bit lately. 🐚 Head down, eyes on the prize, shut everything out, survival mode. Pregnancy is tough. Pregnancy after loss is tough. High risk pregnancy is tough. Pregnancy during a pandemic is tough. The last month in particular, alllll of those truths have really centered themselves. I’ve felt a lot of guilt around having a hard time. We are one week away from meeting our baby boy. One. Week. Our miraculous, wild, never ever expected rainbow baby boy. The physical effects of carrying 30+ pounds of extra weight on a fused spine alongside a tumor have really ramped up. Alongside that, the anxiety that comes with being a loss mama has ramped up, too. The closer we get to meeting his living, breathing, pink-cheeked wiggly self, the more fear likes to nip at my heels, attempting to convince me something will go wrong.⠀ ⠀ I speak about using social media to authentically CONNECT, not compare, all the time. And yet, I’ve been shelling in, trying to shield everyone from my often Eeyore-like current self 💙🐑🎀 (closest emojis I could find to symbolize Eeyore 🙈)⠀ ⠀ I’m sharing this because: it’s ok to be grateful AND in pain. It’s ok to be joyful AND grieving. I’m giving myself grace to admit that, holy moly, I’m in a lot of pain. Grace to grieve the natural home birth I’ve always wanted, while being grateful for the immensely caring hands that will bring him into the world via c-section, the safest possible route for both his little body and mine. Grace to feel overwhelmed at the state of the world, while feeling hope in knowing we will raise this wild little kicker to be a beacon of light. A world changing champ.⠀ ⠀ There’s a lot going on right now. If you’re shelling in too, if you’re having some slumped around “lost my tail” 🐑🎀 moments too, it’s okay. It’s human. It’s healthy. Admit it to yourself and give yourself grace. Be joyful AND. Hopeful AND. Grateful AND. But whatever you do, shed the tempting shell and be all of those things out loud. 35 WEEKS. I’m excited to meet this little girl but I’m SO anxious about losing it again. The recovery, sleep deprivation, feedings, 2 kids 17 months apart, a pandemic... It’s a lot. I know how lucky I am and I know each stage is temporary, but I’m still feeling stressed about how I’ll cope mentally. I think it’s important to share that I have always had help. I never want to pretend that I do it on my own (I am completely in awe of women who do). That being said, I still felt overwhelmed, embarrassed/guilty that I was struggling, and not at all like myself after I gave birth. Let’s get REAL❣️ A classic case of insta vs reality here ! I mean both are me and real and I love to put makeup on and present myself all glam HOWEVER 90% of the time I’m the girl in the the other 3 pics 🤣👏🏼 . Nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to either scenarios but I do want to point out that whilst I get daily messages saying how I make pregnancy look easy and how am I so glam still ect please remember my blobby body on that sofa eating an ice lolly powering through exhaustion 🤣 I get so tired, hungry, agitated, angry and emotional several times a day for no reason. I feel drained by 6pm most days and whilst I DO have to admit I think I’ve had an easier time than others when it comes to health, energy and sickness - carrying a little human takes it toll! . Pregnancy has been a real journey for me (if you’ve followed our series on YouTube you will know all about the ups and downs) I do want to say I have honestly enjoyed it so much though. Throwback 😂💕🌸 Two years ago, I was in the final days of nesting and prepping my home-birth space! I was at the point where I didn’t think I’d ever go into labor, cranky and exhausted. SURPRISE I did indeed go into labor 3 days later. Marcus and I were taking walks every night with Mattie before her bedtime. We went team green and had no idea the sex of the baby. Fun fact I had the names picked out pretty early on but hadn’t shared them with Marcus yet in case he didn’t like them because I loved them 😂🤣 , So Marcus spent the final days of my pregnancy on baby sites searching for a boy/girl name. I vetoed all his ideas, and then the day before I went into labor, I texted him while he was at work “ Boy= Johnny Marvel + my girl option (which I’m not spilling 😂). He responded with YES DONE. THIS IS 32✨🍰⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I can’t believe this is my very last birthday before I officially become a mom. This past year and 35 weeks (& counting!) of pregnancy have taught me so much about myself that I never knew. I’m stronger, wiser and capable of more than I ever thought possible. I am so proud of the women I have grown up to be and I cant wait to share all of my experience and knowledge with this little human growing inside me.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ I have always believed that if youre not happy with something - change it! You have so much more power to take control of your life and the choices you make than you know. Everything that I have accomplished up until this point has been a result of hard work, determination and making certain choices - whether that be sacrifices or just being aware of life’s possibilities and the doors open to me. 😲 Who knew hours after that first shot Id be in active labour.... I still find it just fascinating what a womans body can and will endure as we move through pregnancy. I have looked at these shots taken mere hours apart at least 100 times since that day. It blows my mind.🤯🤯 From the second pic to his birth was exactly 3 hours apart... even crazier to me. 26 weeks 🤰🏼 Im pretty sure this means its my last week of the second trimester and only about 14 weeks left until we meet the baby! 🤯 This week has mainly been about reminding myself Im not invincible (as much as I like to think I am), and reminding myself of all the positive things about being pregnant during these weird times. My body is definitely starting to feel stretched, especially after a big meal. Im using body oil to keep my skin nice and stretchy (it also really relieves itchy nipples!). I took a break from training and reduced my length of walks, and that seems to have helped reduce the pain around my pelvis, so Im ready to get back to training this week. Oh, I also got a birthing ball. Not being able to go see my family was a bit gutting, however we did a family zoom call and theres some other perks about the current lockdown (trying to look on the brightside): the 10pm curfew means I get to see my friends and still get to bed early 😉 I spoke to my midwife this week to find out the current guidelines with partners being allowed in the birth and was reassured to know my hospital is now allowing partners in for labour AND the birth. Visitors in the postnatal care have visiting hours, but at least Tommy can be there for birth. Could be worth a message to your midwife as I know every hospital is different (also if its not good news, remember things might still change and we cant control the future so worrying wont change anything). 💕 I bought some shelving from @notonthehighstreet and we put those up this week... Its got the babys name on so lets hope we dont change our minds now. I love this little part of the room now, and love that my mum posted the Steiff teddy bear my Gran bought when I was born. Its in such good condition despite being over 30 years old because we come from a family where we keep good things for good so they never get used - anyone else relate? This bra is a nursing bra but is EXCEPTIONALLY comfy, and also has padding which helps with the nipple pain in the cold weather. Wow! Thank you everyone for all of the LOVE 🤍 It might sound strange, but it’s actually the first time in the last 17 weeks that I’ve let myself feel excited about this little miracle baby... the first time it’s felt real. The path of fertility hasn’t been a cakewalk for us, which is something I have never shared with really anyone. Not because I was ashamed or embarrassed, but more because it is such a sad and hard thing to go through, that I just didn’t want anyone else to have to go through it with me, or to feel like they needed to apologize or sympathize. The reality is, miscarriage is so common, and maybe it would help if we talked about it more. Experiencing four myself, some more traumatic than others, the physical and emotional effects is something no one should have to go through. The only way I have been able to find peace with all of the pain and confusion is through my trust in God.. that the timing wasn’t right, and maybe I wouldn’t have been able to handle a baby all of those times I had one in me... I mean, it was my very first miscarriage that kicked me in the butt and gave me the courage and fire to open my business. I couldn’t even imagine what my life would be like without VDV! About a month ago I shared that I was suffering from prenatal depression. Releasing all that I had been holding so close was difficult and full of shame. I didn’t know how it would be received, or how I would process moving forward. ⁣ ⁣ Last week, for the first time together, we saw our little girl in an ultrasound. Everything felt like it shifted. Suddenly she was real, present, and we were watching her, holding hands and experiencing it as one. I felt relief. I felt hope. ⁣ ⁣ At the end of week, I began therapy…and by “began” I mean, I had my intro intake appointment. ⁣ ⁣ So that morning I felt like maybe I didn’t need therapy or help after all, maybe I’d just *healed* because well, it was a really good week! I considered cancelling but didn’t want to be rude. So, I showed up.⁣ ⁣ When the intake appointment began and the therapist and I were just diving into what was going on, to my own surprise, I began to sob.⁣ ⁣ I wasn’t ok.⁣ But, I can be.⁣ ⁣ The work isn’t over yet. We had a really good week. ⁣ I look forward to more of them.⁣ ⁣ As I move forward I recognize that I can’t just paint over the past with new experiences, I can’t just pretend it’s all ok and ignore the parts that aren’t, that I CAN acknowledge my fear, frustrations, AND acknowledge my hope. ⁣ ⁣ Parenthood isn’t designed for exclusively for those who only have perfect mental health. Finding out I was pregnant was so exciting! But that excitement was short lived when the morning sickness quickly kicked in at week 6-7 and it’s been a rollercoaster of a ride ever since.⁠ ⁠ I know everyone’s experience is completely different and majority of women have really enjoyable pregnancies, but unfortunately thats not always the case for everyone. My morning sickness quickly turned in to Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is more severe. My symptoms included persistent vomiting, severe nausea, loss of appetite, feeling faint and dizzy, fatigue, anxiety the list goes on. It felt like the worst hangover/food poisoning imaginable, and I was bed ridden with my head in a bucket for months because of it. Every day I thought I could not do one more day of this.⁠ ⁠ The hardest part was feeling incredibly alone, as I had never heard of a lot of the pregnancy side effects I was having. And seeing how glorified pregnancy can be on social media, I was wondering why I was the only person struggling?⁠ ⁠ Once the Hyperemesis Gravidarum stopped around weeks 18-20, I really started to struggle with energy, breathlessness, feeling dizzy, faint, emotional, extreme fatigue. This turned out to be due to my Iron levels dropping dramatically, which resulted in an iron deficiency. For another 12 weeks I really struggled with my iron even after an iron infusion and taking iron supplements.⁠ ⁠ If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s definitely not to compare my pregnancy to anyone else’s because we all have different experiences. I snapped these photos a year ago today. I was “a little bit in labor” as I refer to my multiple days of early labor (though I wasn’t totally sure of it at the time) and I sensed that this might be my last chance to capture the two of us together like this. I didn’t take a lot of photos when I was pregnant with Otis. Most days I felt big and bloated and not at all beautiful. How silly that all seems now, to judge a body that is literally creating life. I am endlessly grateful to this body for growing and nourishing my baby - and for keeping me functioning while doing it. OH HEY 39 WEEKS (+2 days) 🍉 Ive been getting so many signs for labour but this baby girl does not want to come just yet 😂 shes just teasing me! I cried when I first saw my body in the mirror after I gave birth to Izaac (6 hours before I took this pic). It wasn’t because I didn’t like what I saw, it was because I was IN LOVE with my body & was in complete AWE of what it had just done. Here’s an update! 🤰🏼 Thanks to your good vibes and wishes I started feeling much better. The pain is fading away and I have energy again to continue doing yoga and morning strolls down the beach with @stramhacks We are finally agreeing to a name we both like but keeping our options open until we meet the little guy — who btw is the size of a cucumber #18weeks The room is also coming along! We partnered with @macainteriors for the design, with @littleguycomfort for some of the baby furniture, with @cossetteproductions for the wallpaper that is looking FAB, and @wassersfurniture for the bassinet and the recliner (learning all of these terms as I go!) Will show you the room later, when things come together! No cravings really, in fact, no appetite still 😰! No sickness either which is great 😅.... Sleeping comfortably is no longer part of my life but at least I’m sleeping 💤! For now, enjoying the bump, Adam’s face every time he sees the bump, and being intentional daily to connect with the baby at least a few hours a day. Apps I love: 🙏🏼 Expectful — for pregnancy weekly meditations ♥️ Flo — for their “secret chats” where you get to read what other women are ACTUALLY going through without filters Books: 🙈 I don’t really read but I will!!! I have a stack of books, so I will get back to you about it later 🙋🏻‍♂️ Adam is reading this really awesome book I recommend all hubby’s to buy “We’re Pregnant! 16 tc vs. 29 tc. vs. dziś ( jutro początek 40tc😱) Nasza brzuszkowa podróż powoli (no dobra mega szybko🤣) dobiega końca.... Zapamiętam okres ciąży, jako jeden z najlepszych w moim życiu🙄SERIO! Nigdy nie sądziłam, że noszenie pod swoim serduchem, drugiego maleńkiego serduszka przejdzie mi tak gładko. Zero załamań, zero kryzysów. Oczywiście bywaly dni, kiedy energia spadała do zera. Jednak takie momenty wyliczę na palcach u ręki. Życzę KAŻDEJ przyszłej mamie, aby miała takie szczęście jak ja i przeszła te 9 miesięcy z uśmiechem na twarzy, z książkowymi wynikami badań i mnóstwem pozytywnej energii☺️ Chociaż zawsze jednak powtarzam, że lepiej się nastawić na gorsze i być miło zaskoczonym, niż dostać młotkiem w łeb, bo się miało nadzieje na bóg wie co! 😋 Arbuzik🍉 wierci się jak szalony, kocham to uczucie, choć czasem na niego narzekam - będę tęsknić okrutnie za tymi kopami, teraz już to wiem🙈 Bilans? Na wadze około +9, więc bosko🤩 Rozsądne, zbilansowane jedzenie (w ostatnim jednak wpadło ciut grzeszków🙈), hektolitry wody i litry pokrzywy...dużo ruchu - recepta na mały sukces i zdrowie ☺️ Rozstępów brak (narazie😋 - wrzucę Wam post co używam do pielęgnacji skóry☺️) Czekanie to cholernie męczące zajęcie. Szczególnie jak czeka ze mną cała rodzina, rodzina mojego męża, wszyscy przyjaciele, znajomi i nieznajomi, wszyscy Wy🥰LOVE! Cholernie miłe i wzruszające jak tyle ludzi czeka na kogoś, kogo noszę pod sercem, a wydawałoby się, że czekamy tylko My...
