What is a hot coffee?☕ Unless you wake up at 4am before anyone else to have your breakfast and get yourself ready, you really do just get used to your iced coffee and stale toast🍞 . Sleep? If its not a full 4hrs you get a really broken 6-7 hr sleep. And if kids are feeling unwell or teething .... what day is it, it feels like Ive been awake for weeks. (Youd be surprised how much still can be accomplished while you are 💀zombie-fied) . I dont know about anyone else but since the quarantine/lock down I have got used to the free-ness of no bra 😁 to point where I leave the house only to bolt back in remembering I need to strap them in so Im not sweeping the pavement 😩😂 (Its surprising how often I forget🤦‍♀️) . I snapped these photos a year ago today. I was “a little bit in labor” as I refer to my multiple days of early labor (though I wasn’t totally sure of it at the time) and I sensed that this might be my last chance to capture the two of us together like this. I didn’t take a lot of photos when I was pregnant with Otis. Most days I felt big and bloated and not at all beautiful. How silly that all seems now, to judge a body that is literally creating life. I am endlessly grateful to this body for growing and nourishing my baby - and for keeping me functioning while doing it. À faire les 100 pas dans tout l’appart, en culotte, Trop chaud pour ouvrir les volets ou sortir dehors, Ella dans mes bras, le téléphone dans l’autre pour répondre aux mails et aux appels (je bosse à fond sur un nouveau projet que j’ai hâte de vous dévoiler très bientôt ... ) Et sinon je mange aussi toute cru cette bouille d’amour entre deux réveils, en attendant que mon grand garçon rentre de l’école. S’en suit alors un harcèlement de question pour qu’il me raconte sa journée , en vain. Et le soir, c’est sportif. Eddy s’occupe de Ella pendant que je prépare le repas et passe du temps avec Edan mais ça ne dure jamais bien longtemps, car mademoiselle veut bien souvent les bras de sa maman. 😲 Who knew hours after that first shot Id be in active labour.... I still find it just fascinating what a womans body can and will endure as we move through pregnancy. I have looked at these shots taken mere hours apart at least 100 times since that day. It blows my mind.🤯🤯 From the second pic to his birth was exactly 3 hours apart... even crazier to me. This was moments before I went and told Chris it was time to put our labour plan into play... call my parents, wake my neighbour to be with the girls, and load the van! I was definitely concerned about mom shaming and mom policing when I found out I was pregnant. But I thought I’d have 9 months to prepare for it. Little did I know, the judging and shaming starts the second you announce that you’re pregnant. It was pretty shocking to me. So, to all the new moms and moms-to-be: I want to assure you that you’re doing great. You’re doing the best you can. You can do your own research, talk to your doctor and make your own decisions. EVERYBODY will have an opinion and some people will try and shove their opinions down your throat. If you didn’t ask for their advice and feel that it’s forced upon you, you are under no obligation to take it. You can let it roll off your back and move on with your day! I wish the mom shaming would stop and I really hope it will. But for the time being, let’s just support and empower each other. Throwback 😂💕🌸 Two years ago, I was in the final days of nesting and prepping my home-birth space! I was at the point where I didn’t think I’d ever go into labor, cranky and exhausted. SURPRISE I did indeed go into labor 3 days later. Marcus and I were taking walks every night with Mattie before her bedtime. We went team green and had no idea the sex of the baby. Fun fact I had the names picked out pretty early on but hadn’t shared them with Marcus yet in case he didn’t like them because I loved them 😂🤣 , So Marcus spent the final days of my pregnancy on baby sites searching for a boy/girl name. I vetoed all his ideas, and then the day before I went into labor, I texted him while he was at work “ Boy= Johnny Marvel + my girl option (which I’m not spilling 😂). He responded with YES DONE. That was easy!! Also keeping the name choices a secret from my mom was probably the HARDEST thing ever. I legit tell her everything 😂🤣 - @wearingmomjeans on Instagram

Finding out I was pregnant was so exciting! But that excitement was short lived when the morning sickness quickly kicked in at week 6-7 and it’s been a rollercoaster of a ride ever since.⁠ ⁠ I know everyone’s experience is completely different and majority of women have really enjoyable pregnancies, but unfortunately thats not always the case for everyone. My morning sickness quickly turned in to Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is more severe. My symptoms included persistent vomiting, severe nausea, loss of appetite, feeling faint and dizzy, fatigue, anxiety the list goes on. It felt like the worst hangover/food poisoning imaginable, and I was bed ridden with my head in a bucket for months because of it. Every day I thought I could not do one more day of this.⁠ ⁠ The hardest part was feeling incredibly alone, as I had never heard of a lot of the pregnancy side effects I was having. And seeing how glorified pregnancy can be on social media, I was wondering why I was the only person struggling?⁠ ⁠ Once the Hyperemesis Gravidarum stopped around weeks 18-20, I really started to struggle with energy, breathlessness, feeling dizzy, faint, emotional, extreme fatigue. This turned out to be due to my Iron levels dropping dramatically, which resulted in an iron deficiency. For another 12 weeks I really struggled with my iron even after an iron infusion and taking iron supplements.⁠ ⁠ If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s definitely not to compare my pregnancy to anyone else’s because we all have different experiences. 7 days postpartum 💕 (I forgot to take a pic on day 3 🤪) I’ve seen so much negativity surrounding postpartum body image and people saying “babies ruin your body” and as someone who heard all of that and worried my entire pregnancy about postpartum recovery and body image I am here to tell you stop! Don’t worry, nourish & trust your body & focus on healing. I’m not saying your body won’t be different but I am here to say be kind to yourself and your body! I have lost 20lbs so far and have another 15ish pounds to lose to be back to pre-baby weight. I’m not worried about it. I am more concerned with how I feel vs how I look. I will put in the work to get where I want to be when I can but until then I’m focusing on my amazing perfect baby girl and healing/ resting. Isn’t it funny how there’s some things that you juusssstt know in your gut? I knew this baby would be late. Even when everyone around me told me stories about their seconds coming early and fast. Going on 40 weeks and 5 days now and this may sound negative and over dramatic, but there’s no end in sight. Lol. 😅 Baby is still high, and I have no indications of labor (aside from some contractions on Tuesday that didn’t last). I know that all can change quickly, (as everyone and their mother has reassured me), but that naggy gut feeling is saying I’m still going to end up with an induction. But maybe I’m just cranky and pessimistic and too pregnant to see the light. I hope I’m wrong but we’ll see 👍🏼. Either way, I keep reassuring myself that it’s nice to have a few more days of uninterrupted sleep and in the end, all that matters is that baby is healthy.
