(YES WE ARE STILL IN A PANDEMIC PEOPLE 😷). So as recommended by most medical professionals and people in general, aside from staying 6ft apart, masking up, and keeping your hands clean, we must boost the immune system! During pregnancy this looks a little different, especially when trying to take the most natural routes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are a list of some things to incorporate now as you prepare to boost your immune system during flu season, pandemic, and winter months! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Decaf Teas (natural herbs if you can) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Fresh ginger and garlic in everything! 😩 This May be easier for some than others lol ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Vitamin C ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Prenatal Probiotics (or probiotics through food like yogurt) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •Plenty of Water and PLENTY OF REST! These type of habits are the leading cause to gestational diabetes’s, which leads to stress and sudden strict limitations in your diet that are uncomfortable to manage right away! If you have to drink store bought juice, try half of a juice that has from 14-18 grams of sugar. Add water and save some for later or another day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BE WELL. BE SAFE. 💗 WHAT IS LINEA NIGRA?? 💗 ⠀ Ever wondered about the dark vertical line which often appears on the abdomen during pregnancy? This is called Linea Nigra (Latin for black line) and is occurs for around 75% of expectant mums. ⠀ ⠀ We actually always have this line that runs down our abdomen, but we just dont notice it. It is usually called the Linea Alba or white line. During pregnancy, the hormones (oestrogen, in particular, affects melanocyte-stimulating hormone) darken the pigmentation of the Linea Alba, causing it to become darker and more visible, hence Linea Nigra. ⠀ ⠀ For some expectant mammas, the Linea Nigra shows up as a faint line and others it is much darker. Finding out I was pregnant was so exciting! But that excitement was short lived when the morning sickness quickly kicked in at week 6-7 and it’s been a rollercoaster of a ride ever since. I know everyone’s experience is completely different and majority of women have really enjoyable pregnancies, but unfortunately thats not always the case for everyone. My morning sickness quickly turned in to Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is more severe. My symptoms included persistent vomiting, severe nausea, loss of appetite, feeling faint and dizzy, fatigue, anxiety the list goes on. It felt like the worst hangover/food poisoning imaginable, and I was bed ridden with my head in a bucket for months because of it. Every day I thought I could not do one more day of this. The hardest part was feeling incredibly alone, as I had never heard of a lot of the pregnancy side effects I was having. And seeing how glorified pregnancy can be on social media, I was wondering why I was the only person struggling? Once the Hyperemesis Gravidarum stopped around weeks 18-20, I really started to struggle with energy, breathlessness, feeling dizzy, faint, emotional, extreme fatigue. This turned out to be due to my Iron levels dropping dramatically, which resulted in an iron deficiency. For another 12 weeks I really struggled with my iron even after an iron infusion and taking iron supplements. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s definitely not to compare my pregnancy to anyone else’s because we all have different experiences. Throwback 😂💕🌸 Two years ago, I was in the final days of nesting and prepping my home-birth space! I was at the point where I didn’t think I’d ever go into labor, cranky and exhausted. SURPRISE I did indeed go into labor 3 days later. Marcus and I were taking walks every night with Mattie before her bedtime. We went team green and had no idea the sex of the baby. Fun fact I had the names picked out pretty early on but hadn’t shared them with Marcus yet in case he didn’t like them because I loved them 😂🤣 , So Marcus spent the final days of my pregnancy on baby sites searching for a boy/girl name. I vetoed all his ideas, and then the day before I went into labor, I texted him while he was at work “ Boy= Johnny Marvel + my girl option (which I’m not spilling 😂). He responded with YES DONE. That was easy!! Also keeping the name choices a secret from my mom was probably the HARDEST thing ever. I legit tell her everything 😂🤣 - @wearingmomjeans on Instagram
