I ran out of guacamole for the pic ( used all my avos for my breakfast pudding hehe) but its also delicious with a little guacamole 🥑 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I absolutely love a good burrito, and there is nothing wrong with having either of these options. 🤗I just find the option on the left often leaves me feeling bloated and sluggish! I also love that the option on the right adds in some extra fiber, veggies and the squash is honestly so filling! A great option if you’re gluten intolerant or trying to go grain free!!🙆‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Yes, I know that this is technically not an eat more for less post ( as the butternut & the burrito are technically a similar size). 😜BUT the best part about this is that you can eat your butternut burrito bowl and have a little dessert ( like my healthy choc chip cookies that are only 83 cals each) and STILL have less calories than the burrito🙆‍♀️🙆‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👈On the left we have one burrito. It has 1 tortilla, 1/2 cup refried beans, 1/4 cup corn, 3 tbsp sour cream, 3 tbsp guac, salsa, 1/2 cup cooked rice and 40g cheese. Coming in at around 614 calories. (PS: don’t shout at me for this burrito looking so sad! I didn’t make it 😂it was bought!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉On the right we have one of my butternut burrito bowls. I make it by slicing a butternut squash in half (around 280g per half) and taking the seeds out. I then bake in the oven ( i just put it in as is, no oil) at 180 degrees census until soft ( 20-30 mins). I then fill it with a mixture that i make in a pan by mixing 1/2 cup crushed tomatoes, 1 cup mushrooms, 1/2 cup kidney beans (canned), 1/4 cup diced green pepper, 1/4 cup corn, and 8g cheese. Flavour it with some sea salt, garlic & spices of choice. I then bake in the oven until cheese has melted and enjoy! 3 WEEK TRANSFORMATION! As some of you know I decided to do a quick little body re-comp which focused on burning fat and gaining a little muscle. I really just wanted to reset my metabolism and get my hormones/gut health in check so that I can have a much more beneficial offseason period. I decided to add in minimal cardio, eat cleaner (no snacks), and just focus on being more mindful with my regimen. It worked out that I was able to book a photoshoot in that time but all I needed was a couple weeks and to be honest, had I taken it more serious, I could have seen a lot more change. But that wasn’t the point. I simply just wanted a quick re-comp to put me in a better position to build. Covid really hit me hard in the sense that I lost motivation and my confidence about myself as a bodybuilder so I really wanted to do this to get my love for the sport back and just after these 3 weeks I don’t think I’ve ever loved the sport more. I am so excited about this upcoming year and my motivation is sky high again. As you can see, we are all capable of literally anything. The body CAN be so easy to change if you know what you’re doing and if you’re not just regimented, but you’re bodybuilding with INTENT! Next goal - get the necessary size on needed to win a show in classic. I understand my weaknesses and I’m not delusional. I was a top amateur and that’s not all I ever want to be. I’m not where I need to be if I want to be a top pro and it’s time that I start working toward that goal now. Is it not that one simply consumed food bereft of micronutrients which may be less likely to satiate them? But what if such consumption supports to one’s caloric needs and the next meal is nutritious? What if nutrients have already been attained? Is it still bad?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The long term key to taking control of one’s dietary outcomes is to understand that there is no good or bad, only difference. I NEED TO STAY AHEAD OF MY DEPRESSION 🙏⁣ ⁣ My husband and I got into a massive argument a couple days ago. This was my little physique a couple weeks before all the gyms closed and the world exploded. I was actually pushing myself pretty hard and it wasn’t easy going straight from a 14hr workday to the gym but hey, gotta have balance and preworkout lol. 15 year body comp. In both pictures I’m 315lbs. On the left a 21 year old college Junior playing football (and Cupid) on the right a 36 year old has been trying to feel good. It’d be interesting to see data on the muscle mass added in this time. During this time I recall yo-yo dieting about every other year weighing: 335, 260, 285, 308, 335, 365, 400+, and now 315 again. This is the healthiest my body (aside from my spine) has felt since right after college. I don’t know what’s next, if I’ll ever compete, if I’ll ever train normally, if I’ll ever hit goals I set almost a decade ago I was dead set on reaching that now seem impossible. What I know: I won’t be 400lbs, and if I yo-yo in weight it’ll be because it was planned and good for me. I’ve relied on a team to push me and hold me accountable, now I’m accountable to me and the team is ready at all times if I need a spot. What I was able to accomplish in only 10 weeks. This just goes to show what a little hard work can do for you. As many of you know, the show has been canceled due to the virus. Well this is kinda how my week has gone both mentally and physically shown through pictures. Swipe to see ➡️ . Explanation below⬇️. . Sunday (first picture)- feeling great really excited to take my check in videos for @freakmaker1 as I feel we’ve made substantial progress together already. Mentally and physically I feel amazing and ready to crush another week after dropping 8.2 lbs from the previous week. . Tuesday( second picture): I felt great heading into the day super focused and ready to crush my chest workout. Do my regular warmup at the gym and feel really good still. I get into the workout and the first exercise I feel incredible, stronger than I have in the past weeks and bigger pumps already one exercise down. Next exercise up is flat barbell bench and little did I know it would be the end of the workout from there. With barbell bench I always work my way up to working weight so still warming up with 315 on the bar. As many know this is a pretty routine warm up set for me and should be no issues at all. Unraack it do a few reps and I believe it was rep 5 or so I go down press up and hear/feel a “pop”. Well end of the workout off the the hospital I go. Result is Torn pec as shown in the picture I took immediately after it happened. I thought I may have gotten lucky with it. Surgery scheduled for October 15th. . Today(final picture): workout done✅ Ive been in my head since it happened and I had my “pitty party” for a moment but I’ve got goals to achieve. Immediately I messaged my coach and communicated what happened to him and figured out how to work around it with a plan in place and now knowing what it is and what’s going to happen with a surgery date I feel back on track with what I want to achieve. I have been very fortunate to have a great support system with numerous messages to my story posts at the hospital and I’m grateful for everyone in my corner. . ❇️Why I prioritize the 5 main compound lifts with novice clients regardless of whether their goal is strength, weight loss, or hypertrophy.❇️ The major compound lifts include squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, and barbell rows, as well as various variations of those. (Remember there are regressions, and progressions for just about everything) 1. They recruit the most muscle mass, over the greatest range of motion. 2. More muscles used at once = greater energy output opposed to isolation exercise such as curls, leg extensions, etc. 3. Learning perfect execution of these sets the greatest foundation for both strength and technique in other exercises to be incorporated in the future. 4. K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) simplicity is often the hard pill people need to swallow when starting their fitness journey. Your favorite influencer/ bodybuilder didn’t build massive legs hitting drop sets on leg extensions or leg curls, they built them doing the hard heavy shit first. 5. They expose your weaknesses, poor movement patterns, muscle imbalances, which allows for more personalized programming. 6. Every now and then I like to look back through my photos. I used to delete just about every unflattering pic because I was like “Do I really look like that???”. I’d be lying if I said I don’t still feel like that every now and then. But I made a goal to move forward. I was 348 at my heaviest, today I’m sitting at 278. It doesn’t feel like I’ve lost 70lbs but at the same time it feels like I’ve lost 70lbs 😂. The biggest change I made was cutting out soda and not gorging myself with the food that I love. Weight and Crappy Physique update: 233.4lbs 9/23/2020 15lb weight loss since last Monday, 9/14. Last one of these I posted was on May 30th when I was nearing the 200lb mark on the scale. Slowly getting back down in weight while working on putting the strength back on. Cutting has been going good so far, definitely better than when I was binging on food last month. I’m really proud and grateful today. The heaviest I’ve ever been is 400lbs and today I’m 310, DOWN 90! Ten from my goal I set two years ago! In fact the scale went to 400 and got an error message because i was too heavy. The next week I was 396. It’s a bit odd to go from breaking records, setting goals, and being an athlete to being full time injured and having powerlifting be a business and not a hobby i get to enjoy. In the two years since I’ve competed I’ve mentally had a tough time and my confidence dwindled and my weight shot up. My identity taken. No longer an athlete. Bored. Not proud. About 14 months ago, @hunter_marie24 wanted to know where @steficohen got a pair of leggings. So I message Stefi and ask, like a good person Stefi asks about my injured back and health and I tell her I’m in rough shape, recovering from a surgery, trying to open a gym, and really struggling. Stefi gets me a coach, @f_catalano and the top row pics are my before photos when we started working together. May 2019, I’m about 390lbs there. At some point I stopped being a good athlete for Francesco and hired a very good friend @what_the_heck71 who I knew I could be open and honest with things that I was really ashamed and self conscious about and I needed that to go further, to break through. Now we’re sitting at 310lbs, I’ve entered my first powerlifting meet (bench only) in two years, I’m working on rehabbing my squat and deadlift, and I’m starting to feel more like myself. Along the way there’s been too many amazing supportive people to list everyone but if you’re on “my team” and you’re reading this, I love you and you helped save me from me. Thank you. At some point during my lifting journey, you would have classified me as an ecto, meso, and endo based on my current physique at the time. Can I really be all 3? Or are somatotypes just another stupid myth? - Body types definitely do exist. The issue is that the three somatotypes are a very simplistic way of classifying body types and most people dont fall perfectly into any of these. We are all unique beyond three rigid classifications and most people have some characteristics of all three of these. - There are undoubtedly people who are predisposed to storing fat easily, people who can gain muscle more easily, people who have much faster or slower metabolisms, people who are naturally thinner or stockier as well as a bunch of other characteristics. You can label it however you want but to deny the existence of these similarities and differences is just false. If you’re predominantly an ectomorph, you will probably find it nearly impossible to get big enough to become a 350 pound NFL lineman whereas a predominant endomorph likely could. - Having said that, any body type can gain muscle and lose fat. I see so many people call themselves an “endo” and they have a preconceived notion that they will never be lean. I see others call themselves an “ecto” and assume they can never add size. This ends up becoming a self fulfilling prophecy and you actually convince yourself it can’t be done. This morning I woke up and thought, “Why am i so close to my goal and so complacent towards it when it’s this near.” I’ve been sitting at 305-310lbs for weeks and just not pushed through to hit 300 and 100lbs lost. It’s not because I’m satisfied. I’m far from satisfied with my stomach, tits, back fat, etc. I am satisfied with the changes mentally, emotionally, but there’s more work to be done. Maybe it’s a fear that when I hit my goal I won’t be done working on me. You can’t be scared to grow, learn, and gain discipline, you have to be open. I’m open, I’m ready, I see the finish line for one goal that opens up opportunities for many more, I’m sprinting towards it, physically, mentally, emotionally. Well, 2020 has thrown us some crazy circumstances... I’m thankful that, despite those circumstances, I have had a great opportunity to focus on myself. I took the top pictures in Jan 2020 after I had hit a peak weight in my life and realized I needed to make a change.. I was still eating like a lineman, and working out far less, not a great combo... fast forward to yesterday, I have learned so much about nutrition and balancing my diet. I still eat some of the foods that I love, I enjoy myself, I don’t have “good” foods, and “bad” foods, I’m just overall healthier. I’ve lost 30 lbs in the last 6 months and I know I still have a long way to go, but I could not be prouder of the progress that I’ve made this year so far! You determine who you are, and who you can become nobody else! I’m years into this journey, but to me I’m just getting started. Top left: Freshman year of HS Top right: Sophomore year of HS Bottom Left: Junior or senior year of HS Bottom Right: about a month or two ago Throughout this journey I battled depression, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, injuries, deaths of friends, and family. I’ve had many wins and many losses, but one thing has always stayed constant. I never stop working. When I said I wanted to be a trainer some applauded the idea, and even more laughed at it. I have now been training and coaching others for about 5 years, and am daily taking the time to grow my knowledge to be an even better coach. While doing so I have been able to support myself, my wife, buy a bad ass mustang, travel the country, and even go to Thailand. Who is laughing now?? When I said I wanted to be a bodybuilder, and competitive lifter again people laughed. I haven’t accomplished either of those but for damn sure I am closer today than I was yesterday, and everyday less people doubt me. I never stop, I never fold, and I never back down, I am relentlessly chasing the person I want to become. 🛑 Read for a HUGE announcement at the end 🙏🏼⁣ ⁣ I have spent the last 5 years trying to do one thing: Become a better and happier person⁣ ⁣ ⚠️ Right before I started my journey (top left), I had low self-esteem, no true direction for what I wanted to do, and was convinced I would live my life in a state of apathy, just getting by.⁣ ⁣ ⚠️ About 6 months into my journey, having lost 40 lbs and dealing with a lot of disordered eating (bottom left), I had even less self-esteem than when I was 40 lbs heavier and I thought that I would be happy when I reached a certain physique.⁣ ⁣ ✅ Flash forward to today, I am happy, driven, and so optimistic for my future and what I can accomplish. However, the improvements I’ve seen isn’t because I’ve gotten bigger or stronger, it goes far deeper than that.⁣ ⁣ 🙌🏼 I am who I am today because of these things:⁣ ▪️Growing up overweight for most of my life.⁣ ▪️Comparing myself and feeling inadequate to those around me.⁣ ▪️Developing disordered eating and dealing with the fear of food for years.⁣ ▪️Going through binge eating phases throughout my journey, where I gained anywhere from 10-20 lbs of fat in less than a month, 3 separate times.⁣ ▪️Going through countless setbacks and injuries in the gym and learning the only person worth comparing myself to is me.⁣ ▪️Being told by those around me and some former close friends, that what I was trying to accomplish was unrealistic or a waste of time.⁣ ⁣ Having hit and overcome low point after low point has given me the ability to be empathetic towards others and along the way, acquire the knowledge to help others.⁣ ⁣ I want to help you and anyone else I can to avoid the major struggles and setbacks I went through, and provide a voice in the fitness industry that is centered around your success and not just making money.⁣ ⁣ 🚨 I am officially starting up my online coaching business and am starting out by opening 7 spots with a few already taken 🚨 ⁣ ⁣ Please like this post, share it to someone you feel could benefit from my services and shoot me a DM if you’re interested.
