Black is named after the first @navymcpon, who served from 1967 to 1971. One year ago, the REV Ocean has touched water for the first time in the VARD Tulcea yard. Now its undergoing the final touches in Norway: when complete, the ship will be able to provide useful research to achieve positive change for ocean health. She is the worlds’ largest research vessel and will have the capacity to hold 60 scientists and 30 crews. Christmas came early at the North Point Lighthouse Museum in the form of a beautiful scale model of the schooner Rouse Simmons, known as The Christmas Tree Ship. ⚓️ The model was built by the late Bob Hegemeyer. A friend found it in his storage locker after he died and was kind enough to bring it to the NPLH Museum. We are honored to have such a great model and piece of Lake Michigan maritime lore. 📟 Saturday 6th June 2020 📟 Whilst on patrol yesterday the team were asked to visit Dover Harbour to offer words of advice to 2 kayakers who had been recovered by the launch Dovorian having been swept across the harbour. On returning to patrol we were then tasked to a yacht anchored off Hythe which was causing concern. Dover Lifeboat was launched and although on arrival the occupant seemed fine, the decision was made with him to tow him back to Dover Harbour for his safety, given the weather conditions and particularly as he was struggling to make comms with the CG Operations room should he have needed assistance. We met him at Dover Harbour to offer words of advice ensuring he communicates with the Coastguard re his intentions and has all the necessary equipment for his voyage. ⠀ ⚓️На Средне-Невском судостроительном заводе (входит в #ОСК) состоялась церемония спуска на воду корабля противоминной обороны Георгий Курбатов проекта 12700 Александрит. 🍾Право разбить бутылку шампанского о борт тральщика предоставили Валерии Курбатовой - правнучке Героя Советского Союза Георгия Дмитриевича Курбатова, чьё имя носит новый корабль противоминной обороны. 👷♂️В июле текущего года, после завершения работ по формированию корпуса корабля, насыщению его системами и механизмами, специалисты верфи вывели заказ из эллинга. Корабелами СНСЗ выполнена установка надстройки, осуществлён монтаж башенно-мачтового устройства, антенного оборудования и общекорабельных систем. Произведена окраска корпуса корабля. ⛴В ближайшее время заводская сдаточная команда начнёт подготовку к первому этапу швартовных испытаний. Передача тральщика ожидается в 2021 году. ❕Проект 12700 Александрит разработан КБ Алмаз (входит в ОСК) для ВМФ России. Эти корабли относятся к новому поколению минно-тральных сил и предназначены для борьбы с морскими минами, которые могут обнаруживать как в воде морских акваторий, так и в морском грунте, не входя в опасную зону. Для борьбы с минами корабли могут применять различные виды тралов, а также телеуправляемые и автономные необитаемые подводные аппараты. ❕При строительстве кораблей на СНСЗ применяются новейшие российские технологии, не имеющие аналогов в мировом судостроении. Корабли этого проекта имеют уникальный, самый большой в мире корпус из монолитного стеклопластика, сформированного методом вакуумной инфузии. Масса такого корпуса значительно ниже по сравнению с металлическим. При этом существенно увеличивается его прочность. Такому корпусу не страшна коррозия, а срок службы, при соблюдении норм эксплуатации, неограничен. Кроме высокой прочности и малой массы к достоинствам композитного корпуса можно отнести его немагнитность, что обеспечивает большую живучесть корабля при поиске мин. 🇷🇺Согласно планам Главного командования ВМФ России, корабли ПМО нового поколения в ближнесрочной перспективе будут составлять основу минно-тральных сил флотов ВМФ России, существенно повысив эффективность выполнения задач. #USC @srednenevskiy - @unitedshipbuildingcorporation on Instagram

It is #CURATORBATTLE 💥 time! This week the challenge is #TremendousTransport and for us that could only ever be a boat🚣♀️. The Sixareen was the grandest of vessels, a six-oared boat that was used by tenant fishermen for haaf (deep sea) fishing, to pay rents in fish to landlords. Sixareens were away for several days at a time and many were lost to storms. We have several sixareens in our collection, including Industry, built in 1891. She has an oak keel and stems, and larch planks, measuring 8.9m long, 2.58m wide and 1.56m high at the stem. She was first used as a mail boat for the island of Foula but later used for fishing. Industry is the main exhibition in our Boat Hall. We were delighted to launch the newly extended 74.5m MY Lady E over the weekend following an extensive refit at our Falmouth facility. A major component has been the addition of a 6m stern extension, meaning future guests on board will now be able to enjoy a brand new 60sqm beach club on the lower deck and additional guest seating and sunbathing area’s on the main deck aft. The project also included a comprehensive programme of engineering and AVIT works, application of top coat, and the installation of a fully equipped health and wellbeing suite. Lady E has moved into our 7,564sqm wet basin, where she will undergo final commissioning work ahead of a series of sea trials over the coming weeks.
