Born to a family of vaudeville performers, Reddy was on stage by four, and by twelve, her rebellion manifested in wanting to be a “normal” housewife. After a brief marriage at 20, Reddy returned to Showbiz as a single mother and went to LA with her toddler in the 1960’s all the way from Melbourne. 😫but also 💪 Her 1972 hit ‘I am woman’ became a global feminist anthem, earned her a Grammy and she was the first Australian to top the US charts!!! She had 15 Top 40 hits as well as an acting career well into the 90’s. She was diagnosed with dementia five years ago and was 78 when she died.
