Bobby Jones III and I have had 13 years of friendship, a big chunk of this time being very formative years of my life. A great deal of these memories include laughing until our faces hurt and roasting the ever loving shit out of each other, followed by the Bobby Jones gentle giggle + shoulder squeeze combo. There is so much to say about Bobby. But, in short; he was gentle, loving and kind, obscenely generous-to his detrament, so, so goddamn funny and self deprecating, incredibly curious and extremely intelligent, he had a talent for linguistics, he was a bit ocd, and he was fiercely protective and very proud of those he cared for. He defined a big part of him by the ones he held dear. Someone who knew him very intimately said to me, ‘he had so much love for everyone else, he didn’t save any for himself’. I wish that wasn’t so goddamn accurate. In our last conversation, he’d just gotten home from the hospital, deciding he wanted to come home to pass comfortably. The first thing he said to me on the phone was, ‘I’m sorry that I missed your birthday, what’d ya do?’ I fought back tears as I told him about how I’d spent my day. In some of his last moments, my birthday was on the forefront of his mind. That’s Bobby. When we got off the phone, he said he’d call me back once he got settled in. The last thing we said to each other was I love you. I am forever grateful for that. His passing is complex and tragic and unfair and quite frankly I do not know how to reconcile with it. This insidious disease had it’s grip on him, and the loss of his beloved brother was profound and the sadness that followed for years was debilitating. I will grapple still, with what I could’ve done better or differently as a friend, while I reassure everyone that there isn’t anything that we could’ve done. Because there wasn’t. Bobby was secretive and proud and stubborn and he never wanted anyone to make a fuss over him. True to Bobby, he did things his way and he fought like hell till the end. This still doesn’t feel real and I don’t know when it will. But I am thankful for this friendship, for all of it, even the hard stuff. I love you dumb dumb. - @emirirozu on Instagram

Calm down Karen, it’s just a tube… I get it, a tube coming out of my nose and taped to my face is a lot to take in; but let me tell you more about my NG tube. First things first; “What is an NG tube?” In simple terms, it’s a long tube that gives my medical team access to my stomach and all the fun stuff inside. When I’ve had bowel blockages in the past, or when Olivia’s “fallen asleep” for long periods of time, I’ve had NG tubes placed to decompress my stomach. Having my tube placed was not a comfortable time BUT, having AMAZING NURSES (you know who you are) makes the experience so much better. After one of my surgeries, I pulled my NG out in my sleep; I called my nurse and he was so calm about it all. He ended up dancing and cheering me on as he was placing the NG (if you read this, thank you… I needed that laugh). If you’re getting your first NG tube, this is a general idea of how they are placed. Hopefully, this makes it way less intimidating for you: * Your nurse will come in with a bunch of supplies (don’t worry, it looks scarier than it is). * The NG tube will be measured from your nose to the sternum, this makes sure that it gets placed in the right area. * I’ve always been sitting upright for my tube placements, my nurses have me sip water during the procedure; this helps the placement be more comfortable for the patient. * The nurses will ask you to bend your head forward while 2/3 inches are inserted; once that happens, you will look towards the ceiling while still sipping your water. * Your NG will be taped to your face (I prefer band-aids) and then you will have a chest X-Ray to make sure it’s in the correct spot. Here are my tips for coping with an NG: * Get your nurse to put your NG in the freezer before they place it, it makes it hurt less! * Don’t be embarrassed about your tube! Having something physically attached to your face can 100% make you self-conscious, but you deserve to feel beautiful as you are. I would do my hair every day and wear my own jammies; this made me 10x more comfortable & confident about my tube. * Hard candies, cure dry mouth I hope this helps! 💕What’s your love language? 💕 Remember I asked you that just the other day. Well I resonate with a couple of you! My love language is words of affirmation. The funny thing is a few years ago I would have considered my love language to be 🎁 gifts. That is definitely a close second. I enjoy, and am highly motivated by statements that show true appreciation, gratitude, and a sense of acknowledgement. 🙏 It drives me to want to be better, work harder, and just adds an extra pep in my step. Trauma is the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds ones ability to cope with the emotions involved with that experience. If you let those traumas fester, it can lead to ✖️Night terrors/insomnia. ✖️Anxiety and/or depression. ✖️Extreme startle reflex. ✖️Withdrawing from social situations. ✖️Anger, rage, or mood swings. ✖️Feelings of being numb or disconnected. ✖️Aches and pains. How do you release emotional trauma? 🔹Start with admitting you have some emotional traumas to work through. Meu tratamento está em 2 anos, porém como não consigo ir com a frequência mensal que preciso o meu tratamento está no final já, mas em pouco mais de 1 ano eu já estaria sem ele. What do you get when you cross a road runner in with no races, add in an awesome #spartanathlete @fayemocr who introduces you to some trail running and shake it up? Well, I broke in my first pair of trail shoes, and ran my first trail race ever😳 We’re having a heat wave in SoCal, so the goals were don’t fall, die of a heat stroke, or come in last 😂 Happy to say I accomplished all of those😎🙌 I was not very good at it, but I can work on that. 2,000 + ft of elevation gain in almost 11 miles with some beautiful views was an awesome experience. The lady argued that we can and I argued no, we cant. I argued you have no control over what just pops in your head but rather what you do when they do pop in.- - Heres my thinking and Id love to know yours!- - Its like a song that pops in your head. You didnt even think about it, but it came. Now you cant get it out. Yes you can. Start consciously singing a different catchy song in your head and I can almost guarantee you cant keep thinking/singing the previous one. This is my thought on this. You can do something. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones. But your not in control of what just randomly pops in. She was adamant that you could.- - She is in sobriety like me, though new to it. She said she didnt think about drinking anymore. Ok, neither do I.... in general. But a random thought still pops in from time to time. I have tools to deal with it, but I couldnt just stop it from popping in. She seemed to not realize that she stopped thinking about it, because shes broken the cycle of the addiction and her body and mind are reacting accordingly. I have yet to meet an addict that a random thought does not pop in every blue moon.- - So do you agree, were not in control of what pops in our head or we are? I argue that we are not but we control our overall mindset and attitude that diminishes those thoughts from occurring. We just cant stop them from randomly popping in.
