Raise your hand if you’ve ever struggled to eat after hard training days 🙋🏼‍♀️ This is something I hear often from athletes, so I wanted to breakdown why this happens and what you can do to combat the appetite suppression that comes from hard training sessions Your body basically has two different states: 🥊fight or flight (during exercise): sympathetic nervous system is activated, stress hormones go up and hunger hormones go down, blood flow moves away from the core towards the extremities, nutrients go to working muscles 😴 rest and digest (after exercise): parasympathetic nervous system is activated, stress hormones decrease and hunger increases. Nutrients go towards rebuilding muscles and replenishing energy stores During hard training sessions, and for a couple of hours after, your body is in the “fight or flight” mode, which works against fueling because your appetite is suppressed The tricky thing is, on hard training days, our fueling needs go up. So what can you do to meet your fueling needs when you don’t feel hungry? 💧 stay hydrated! Replenish both fluids AND electrolytes after training sessions and throughout the day 🍹 use cold drinks like chocolate milk or smoothies. This can help lower your core temperature and help you get in some nutrients, which can stimulate your appetite 🍉 use fruits for carbs first thing after your workout. They can help with hydration and provide easy to digest nutrients 🍿 eat more snacks. Rather than forcing yourself to eat large meals, break them down into several snacks throughout the day For the same reason you feel less hungry on hard days, you’ll most likely feel hungrier on easy days. SERRATUS PLANK PROGRESSIONS FOR BULLETPROOF SHOULDERS Serratus anterior is an important muscle that controls how well our shoulder blade moves as we raise our arm overhead. Without this muscle functioning properly, pain with overhead pressing is a given. This simple bodyweight serratus anterior plank progression can be incorporated into a warmup or as a training exercise to get this muscle going. Its quite literally impossible to not have this muscle engaged when doing this exercise. I love the pike position progression because it really challenges your core and gets you into an overhead position (if you were in pain) relatively pain-free. KEY POINTS: Be sure to let your shoulder blades passively tuck together and not move any other part of the body. MAINTAIN tension! HOW MANY? High repetitions, with lots of holds at the top. 3 Mechanisms of Muscle Growth If your goal is to build muscle, you should understand the mechanisms of muscle growth, right❓ Most people just go off of what they’ve been told - “gotta lift heavy bro”, “it’s all about the pump bro”, “gotta isolate the muscle...bro”. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Here are the 3 mechanisms of muscle growth that you need to know in order to maximize your muscle growth safely and effectively.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ 1) MUSCLE DAMAGE❗️This refers to creating micro-trauma: micro-tearing of muscle fibers. You create muscle damage when you do something new, such as new exercises, new angles, new grips. This sparks new muscle growth.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ One of the most prominent ways to produce muscle damage is by emphasizing the negatives. What does that mean? This refers to the lowering phase of a movement, such as when you’re lower the dumbbell back to the ground after a Bicep Curl. Also known as the eccentric portion, this phase is KEY for muscle growth. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ✅ Emphasize the negatives by slowing down the lowering phase of the movement. Make it HARD! Eccentrics can be added to your routine, but should not overwhelm your routine with them. Start with just a few exercises dedicated to emphasizing the eccentrics. Take 5-10 seconds to lower the weight back down.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ 2) MECHANICAL TENSION❗️This is the one most guys are familiar with - lifting heavy. However, lifting heavy is NOT lifting stupid. Lifting heavy is - moving the heaviest load possible from point A to point B with STRICT FORM! You never sacrifice form for weight...ever! ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ ✅ To achieve maximal mechanical tension, stick to your compound movements, and focus on getting stronger. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ 3) METABOLIC STRESS ❗️This is also known as “the pump”. Building metabolic stress is the process of working the muscle for extended durations to build up lactic acid and blood flow. This produces a strong muscle growth response! The best exercises to build up metabolic stress are the ones you can keep constant tension on the muscle - cables and machines are great for this. Sorry everyone here is the complete video that I manage to cut short on the previous post. Cortisol is our stress hormone from the adrenal glands. ⁣ ⁣ You need T3 to make adrenal hormones. This is where the adrenal-thyroid axis comes in to play. Cortisol is produced by the brain-adrenal axis so is exempt from this thyroid-adrenal pathway.⁣ ⁣ But cortisol reduces our ability to convert T4 to T3. So all of a sudden excess stress or inflammation switches off the thyroid, which in turn switches off the adrenals.⁣ ⁣ In the medical world you treat the thyroid since cortisol is not measured on your blood work, but the high TSH/low T3 is. Therefore a thyroid problem.⁣ ⁣ In the Functional Medicine world you treat the adrenals as that shows up on saliva or urine testing. Therefore adrenal fatigue.⁣ ⁣ In our FHS world they are both downstream symptoms of inflammation and stress, whether emotional or physical or toxicities or infection. Or all of the above. You don’t need heavy weights to really train your posterior chain. . 💁🏻‍♂️Here are some more advance progressions of the kettlebell deadlift. . 1️⃣Double Kickstand Deadlift: 2 bells in kickstand starting position. Back leg is used as a balance support. . 2️⃣Ipsilateral Single Leg Deadlift: Bell on the same arm as the stance leg. The weight is stacked over the stance leg making it a little easier to balance. . 3️⃣Contralateral Single Leg Deadlift: Bell in opposite arm as stance leg. This makes this muscle a top contributor as you run, especially for long distances! - 💎This reflects the importance of this muscle during running. Therefore, it may be key to incorporate exercises that target this area! - 🔑So here are some simple exercises that I use to initially target the soleus muscle: 1️⃣Soleus Wall Sits- This a simple and effective way to isometrically load not only the soleus, but also the quads, which is also a key muscle as you run. Shoutout to @zerenpt for this one! 2️⃣Seated Heel Raise- A simple exercise that requires minimal equipment! Just remember the demands of this muscle and you may need to progress this exercise further to prepare for the demands of running. Incorporating more weight and/or changing the tempo/speed of the heel raise are simple to do that! 3️⃣Bent Knee Heel Raise- A staple exercise that works more on the soleus muscle. Like so many from around the world, our Summer of 2020 did not go as planned. On top of the pandemic and all the heartache and chaos that it has brought, Glen had an unlucky fall at an early summer evening soccer game (a tumble he had while performing an amazing goalie save, he would insist I add, if he knew I was writing about this). The fall was no big deal. He finished his game, went for beers, and biked home. An hour later, Glen was chilling at home with an apres-the-apres beverage. Out of the blue, he started screaming in agony. Still in pjs, I rushed Glen to Emergency. Initially unsure if it was just a tipsy Scottish dude with a sore knee that would self resolve, the doctor watched the knee continue to expand before him, and ordered a CT scan. The scan showed a burst artery. A vascular surgeon was called out of bed and the artery was immediately successfully repaired, literally an hour after the burst was found. The nurse who took his pulse the next morning, Glen would also insist I add, found he was stable and well, and said, Wow, 38 beats per minute. You must be an athlete. (We are becoming more and more desperate for such praise, we find, as we get closer and closer to 50...) Three days later, Glen was back in the hospital to have all the dried blood scraped out of his knee by a plastic surgeon. There was so much of it, they felt the body would never be able to take care of it itself. Leaving the congealed blood would likely reduce mobility and cause pain for the rest of Glens days. Six weeks later, Dob was given the clear to start moving, and 8 weeks later, last Thursday, we went for a ride at Mount Tzouhalem. Glen was a bit out of shape (heart pounding - where was that nurse to take his pulse then!?) but his leg felt as good as new. Thank you, Team Z, for the Recovery Cupcakes. 🍁And THANK YOU to the nurses and doctors and the entire Canadian national health care system. 🍁 The system is of course not perfect. But our total bill for a life saving surgery, a leg saving follow up operation, and all of the post-op care: $0. Llegar es sentir emoción y tristeza a la vez. Es una mezcla indescriptible de alegría por lo logrado y de melancolía al sentir que algo se acaba. Casi todos los viajeros la experimentamos, sobre todo cuando teníamos en mente una meta a la que nos dirigíamos con ilusión, ¿verdad? La mía era cruzar #DelAtlanticoAlMediterraneo en bicicleta. Llegar al extremo más oriental de la Península ibérica tras haber partido de la punta opuesta. O casi... da igual, no vale la pena ser siempre tan estricto con uno mismo. Llegar al Cabo de Creus (la montañita que asoma detrás de mí en la foto, sacada por cierto junto a la placa del hermanamiento entre este lugar y Finisterre -con el permiso de Cabo Turiñán, el cabo más occidental de España peninsular, en realidad-) fue una pasada. Muy emocionante por todo lo logrado durante más de un mes pedaleando y algo más de 1.300 kilómetros recorridos. Un buen tramo sólo y otro con @itziarmarcotegui, la mejor compañera, también de pedaleo. Me queda la espinita de no haberlo hecho todo a pedales, porque desde Pamplona tomamos un bus a Girona, para llegar a tiempo al encuentro viajero @meeting_camper. Pero da igual, lo importante era el camino, disfrutar de la ruta, más que la marca personal o alimentar mi ego de macho al que le gusta presumir de sus logros puros y completos. Por supuesto, al llegar intentamos disfrutar del lugar lo más posible (cosa que hicimos algo más ligeros al dejar algunas alforjas en Roses). Pasamos dos días conociendo el Parque natural de Cap de Creus. Sus calas, olivares, fauna y flora; Cadaqués y su ambiente pijo bohemio; los mil y un recovecos por pistas alejadas del tráfico que inunda la zona los fines de semana... Una maravilla de lugar, un destino increíble para poner como meta en cualquier viaje. Valió la pena el esfuerzo. #celltember2020 Dendritic Cell Dendritic cells were discovered recently, in 1973, by Ralph Steinman. These leukocytes are unique since they do not attack aggressors directly. In case of tissue infection, dendritic cells recognize pathogens and initiate a process called maturation. Along maturation, dendritic cells change their migration properties and do the opposite to most leukocytes: they escape from the injury site. Their mission is to travel to the lymph nodes, where they will encounter and activate “lymphocytes” (see next Celltember). In a way, they are the messengers or sentinels of the immune system, linking pathogen detection to the initiation of a systemic response involving different organs. Thus, Dendritic cells are considered to be the orchestrators of the immune response. Dendritic cells’ discovery filled a huge gap in the understanding of the immune system. Based on the seminal works from Ehrlich and Metchnikoff (see Celltember 19-21), it was clear that cellular and soluble factors were responsible for protecting our organism. Among the soluble factors are antibodies and cytokines, and cellular factors are phagocytes and lymphocytes. However, how the connection between these two responses was missing. Today we know that Dendritic cells eat noxious elements at the injury site and transfer them to lymph nodes. This ensures for lymphocytes to directly encounter the harmful elements that would otherwise not reach these organs. Thanks to this, only specific lymphocytes are activated in the lymph nodes, providing specificity to the so-called adaptive immune response. Due to the relevance of this discovery for the understanding of the immune response, Ralph Steinman received the Medicine Nobel Prize in 2011. TRÍCEPS CORDA NA POLIA E CABO W. MUDA ALGO? Por @pedrotarnowski_personal . Estudo realizado por Boehler (2011) buscou determinar através da análise de eletromiografia (EMG) a ativação muscular da cabeça longa e lateral do tríceps em alguns exercícios e dentre eles o tríceps com a corda na polia e o tríceps W na polia. . Participaram do estudo 15 mulheres universitárias com idade média de 22 anos. Foi determinada a carga máxima (1RM), no segundo dia realizaram duas contrações isométricas de seis segundos a fim de determinar a contração isométrica máxima e realizaram sete repetições para 70% do RM. . O exercício tríceps corda em específico mostrou maior ativação na cabeça longa (81) com diferença significativa em relação à cabeça lateral (67). . O tríceps W na polia também mostrou maior ativação para a cabeça longa (75) com diferença significativa em relação à cabeça lateral (59). . Sendo que o tríceps na corda mostrou ativação um pouco maior nas duas cabeças em relação ao tríceps com a barra W. . No entanto, com a pegada pronada no tríceps W temos maior produção de força em relação ao tríceps corda (pegada neutra), e por isso, conseguimos mobilizar maior carga. . WHATS THE BEST EXERCISE FOR XYZ? . These are a few variations of hip / glute loading that Ive prescribed this past month for various patients and it got me wanting to talk about why and when I utilize them. Almost everyone is familiar with some form of hip abduction or external rotation exercise, be it clamshells, leg lifts, or side steps. This isnt anything new and these are just another variation to potentially be utilized. So what separate these from any of the other options listed above? Ive said it time and time again, but no exercise is inherently special. What makes it special is how and why you use it. So why did I utilize these? One patient had hip pain but couldnt tolerate a lot of movement. So when we tried things like lunges and squats, it just wasnt happening. These were tolerable and are serving as our entry point to loading in addition to some short range of motion work. Well eventually move away from them as more options open up. Another had lateral knee pain and I wanted to work the abduction motion in addition to more high load options. But this patient had told me how the last rehab professional they saw had given them clamshells and side steps, and they said, I go to the gym and am used to pushing myself, and it felt like it wasnt doing anything. So here the prescription was more about taking into account their prior experiences. I wanted to give them something different that didnt have a negative connotation to it and that would challenge them while loading our target. For the last patient, I actually didnt do it for the hip, but rather for the foot. This exercise will make the foot musculature work really hard and create quite the sensation in the arch, so I added it into a program for a bit of a fun way to work balance and the foot. The lesson here is that there are a lot of reasons to prescribe an exercise and it shouldnt be a shotgun approach. The target area is just the start of the prescription. It gives us a lot of options. We then narrow those options based on patient needs, goals, tolerance, preferences, and past experiences. So whats the best exercise for xyz condition? Linear mixed-effects models evaluated differences in change between the ACLR and contralateral limbs. Participants were classified with stable, improving or worsening function relative to previously published minimal detectable change thresholds. Healthy controls completed the three hops (n=41) and one-leg rise (n=31) as reference data. -- Results: The contralateral limb had a significantly greater decrease in functional performance between 1- and 5-years for the three hops, compared to the ACLR limb. Worsening was more common in the contralateral limb than the ACLR limb; resulting in significant improvements in the LSI for the single hop (mean 87% at 1-year to 95% at 5-years), side hop (77%to 86%) and one-leg rise (76% to85%). #celltember2020 Bone cells   Bones are in charge of giving support to the body, being light and solid at the same time. Despite an apparent stability, bones are quite dynamic, being capable of regenerating upon injury with a pretty impressive velocity. On the other hand, and in order to repair damage and maintain quality, aged bones are resorbed, allowing the release of minerals stored in their structure, such as calcium, which is needed for many cellular functions. When this formation/resorption equilibrium is broken, bone structure is disturbed giving rise to disorders such as osteoporosis or osteopetrosis (bones harden becoming denser).  Bone formation is performed by Osteoblasts. Isolated, osteoblasts cannot make bones. They need to act in groups, as they depend on the formation of cell-cell junctions. These cellular groups are localized at the surface of forming bones, where they can be distinguished by their cuboidal shape. On the other hand, bone resorption is performed by Osteoclasts. These cells are specialized in eating and degrading bones, which requires many degradative enzymes.   This function is necessary because it allows bone remodelling and calcium recovery, which is then distributed through the blood. Osteoclast precursor cells accumulate in places where they perform absorption, but to do their job, they must fuse together, generating large multinucleated cells –the osteoclasts. What amazing challenge this was with an outstanding bunch of humans. ⭐⭐FIT FEMALE PHYSICIAN FEATURE ⭐⭐ . Heather @healthy.veggie.meals . As a psychiatrist, I think a lot about wellness. In order to juggle the mental and emotional demands of my work with being a wife and mom of 3 busy boys, fitness is key. I strive to be consistent - it’s not about a certain weight or shape for me - it’s about moving my body in an act of self-care. I just got a @onepeloton bike for an early Christmas and bday gift and so far I absolutely love it. My typical fitness routine is to get up and to work out before my kids wake up. I aim to do this daily, but I give myself room for a recovery day if I need it. I often watch @netflix on the treadmill or when it’s warm I love to jog on a scenic dirt road by my house. Every weekend I give myself time to do yoga classes with @alomoves, and sometimes I can squeeze those in during the week too. I look forward to my workouts and think of them as a way to clear my head and charge for the day. I think the key is to make your fitness routine work for you! In med school, I always went to the gym, took belly dancing classes, went to the yoga studio, and could hop on a bike and ride wherever. Now I workout exclusively at home, and I’m okay with that too. I also focus a lot on plant-based nutrition and think about the fuel I’ve put in my body for the day. Todos sabemos que ningún tratamiento de Ortodoncia y Ortopedia puede iniciarse sin realizarse un correcto diagnóstico, que será la base para una planificación y ejecución certera de cada caso. Muchos pacientes que asisten a mi consulta para el tratamiento y/o retratamiento de ortodoncia, me dicen que en algunos centros le piden solamente una Rx panorámica para iniciar el caso y eso no logro concebirlo🤯. En nuestra formación como especialistas nos hacen ver que desde el caso más sencillo al más severo se deben realizar estudios básicos, que no deben faltar en NINGÚN caso 🧐(historia clínica de Ortodoncia y/o Ortopedia, fotografías extra e intraorales, Rx panorámica, periapical anterior superior e inferior, Rx cefálica lateral y modelos de estudio *por lo mínimo). Yo le hago entender a cada paciente que va a iniciar un tratamiento especializado y por ende debe cumplir con unos estudios y protocolos básicos que EXIGE el tratamiento. Cada vez que me siento a estudiar y planificar el caso 🕑 es algo que me apasiona ya que voy descubriendo a fondo el requerimiento de ese paciente y la naturaleza de sus alteraciones entre otras cosas. También busco con algunas imágenes adicionales que les anexo a las del paciente, explicarles de forma sencilla todo o la mayoría de procedimientos y cambios que buscamos realizar en su caso. Por ende, siempre le recuerdo a personal en recepción que todos mis pacientes esperen al examen de valoración inicial para indicarle los estudios básicos, así como los más específicos según su caso en particular. 📚🔬 Taping for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome ℹ️ℹ️ BACKGROUND: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is characterized by anterior knee pain and/or pain in the retro-patellar and/or peri-patellar region. ℹ️ Pain typically increases with activities such as: Squatting. Kneeling. Stair climbing. Prolonged sitting. ℹ️ The underlying causes of PFPS are multifactorial and may be associated with biomechanical and or neurophysiological changes at the pelvis, hip, knee or ankle regions. ℹ️ Taping is frequently used as part of the multi-modal management for PFPS, including: McConnell Patellofemoral Joint Taping (PFJT). Tibial Internal Rotation Limitation Taping (TIRLT). ℹ️ Clifford et al. (2020), investigated the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping on perceived pain and lower limb kinematics during a lunge and single leg squat (SLS) in people with PFPS. 🔬🔬 METHODS: This cross-sectional study compared the effects of TIRLT, PFJT and no taping, on knee pain and lower limb kinematics during two pain-provoking movements in people with PFPS. 🔬 Participants with PFPS (n = 23) performed a lunge and SLS under three randomised conditions: TIRLT, PFJT and no taping. 🔬 The Codamotion system captured and analysed lower limb kinematic data in the sagittal, transverse and coronal planes. 🔬 Peak knee pain intensity during the movement was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). 📊📊 RESULTS: Participants reported significantly less pain with the TIRLT and PFJT techniques compared with no tape during the lunge and SLS. 📊 There was no evidence of altered lower limb kinematics accompanying pain reductions with either taping technique. ✅✅ CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Both forms of taping may be useful adjuncts as the short-term benefit of pain relief may enable participation in more active forms of rehabilitation. 🧠🧠 Thoughts? Topic: Eccentric vs Concentric Movements -- Are eccentric or concentric concentrations more important in inducing muscle growth? -- Facts: Skeletal muscle contracts by shortening (concentric) or lengthening (eccentric). Gordon’s previous studies show “maximum force is produced when the overlap of the myosin and actin filaments enables the formation of the maximum number of cross-bridges, which occurs at the optimum sarcomere length”. Huxley’s model demonstrates that lengthening, eccentric, produces the greatest force between eccentric, concentric, and isometric due to a greater stretch of myosin. Positive movements (concentric) use up 6 times the amount of energy of negatives (eccentric) showing a greater toll on the body and recovery (Hoppeler). -- A study of concentric v. eccentric only movements observed various hypertrophic elements. Muscle girth, muscle ACSA, muscle volume, muscle thickness, muscle protein synthesis, and muscle lean mass didn’t show any substantial differences between the two movements. The combination of both movements resulted in significant fiber type II CSA increase. While eccentric movements can generate force, the two movements showed little difference in increasing muscle mass with a matched load (Franchi) -- Conclusion: Focus on all aspects of a lift. While eccentric movements allow a greater maximum force, eccentric and concentric movements are now seen to induce similar muscle growth. BUILD YOUR WARM UP BACKWARD . When performing a warm up for a lift, a good rule of thumb is to move from more general exercises to more specific ones, with the ultimate goal being to get to the target movement for the day. . When designing your warm up however, do the opposite. Build backward from the most specific to least specific. . Heres the rationale. . The most specific lift would be the target lift itself. In this case, that is the deadlift. By default, this will hit all the involved joints, muscles, patterns, etc. Sounds like a great warm up to me. So if you want, this could be all you do. Start light and higher rep and work up to your first work set. Super simple. . If you feel like you want or need some other work first, whether it be to get a joint or muscle feeling looser or warmer or you want to expose yourself to some different movement patterns in a low load environment, then moving off the target movement can be good. . So here, build backward again. Start with things that look really similar to the target and build it back to things that simply target similar joints or muscles but dont necessarily relate directly to the target. . In this case, the RDL is more specific than the good morning which is more specific than the bridge variations. Build back as far as you need or want to go. . Once you have them mapped out, then run through them, performing the general work first just to get the joints feeling ready to do some work. Then move into the more specific ones like our hinge variations here. . This general rule of thumb can help you when designing a warm up and by following it you can keep your warm up simple and to the point or build a more complex one that still has purpose and carryover. . Knowing what muscles attach where allows you to better understand movement, and eventually learn about the musculoskeletal system as a whole and how muscle work together (synergistically) to create movement. ⠀ 📍In the side raise exercise, the movement is known as shoulder abduction. The shoulder has many muscles that attach on the scapula and humerus. All these muscle work together to move the arm. ⠀ 📍Scapulohumeral Rhythm The first 30 degrees of shoulder joint motion will purely be your arm only. After that, every 2 degrees your shoulder flexes or abducts, that scapula will rotate upward 1 degree. This creates a ratio of 2:1 which is known as scapulohumeral rhythm. Basically, the muscles that rotate the scapula upward will start getting involved after 30 degrees. ⠀ 📍Muscle Activity 1️⃣The muscle that initiates abduction is the supraspinatus muscle. It is the the prime mover from 0-15 degrees. ⠀ 2️⃣After 15 degrees, the deltoid will take over and become the prime mover while the supraspinatus assists. ⠀ 3️⃣At 30 degrees the scapula will begin to rotate upward and assist abduction. *IMPORTANCE OF LYING DOWN DURING ANAPHYLAXIS* We have it drilled into our heads to Always have our EpiPens with us and administer it immediately, if we feel an allergic reaction occuring. However, a very important step that often gets overlooked due to the panic of administering the EpiPen and getting the individual into hospital, is lying down. During anaphylaxis, the release of allergic mediators or chemicals like histamine, can cause the blood vessels to get bigger & become leaky. As a result, there can be massive fluid shifts out of the blood vessels causing blood and fluid to move into the surrounding tissues and make it harder for blood to return back to the heart. Therefore, blood pressure drops and becomes low. To help prevent blood pressure from suddenly dropping, if your having anaphylaxis, you should lie down on the ground or sit down with your legs stretched out in front of you or legs elevated. This will help ensure blood continues to flow to the heart and to other major organs in the body. Sudden standing must be avoided as this may increase the risk of a fatal reaction. Even after administration when one may feel fine after the adrenaline, it is vital to stay sitting or lying down and get another person to show the paramedics where you are. The paramedics should take you to the ambulance by stretcher. Do not stand up or walk to the ambulance. Once I researched into this, I was shocked at how crucial lying down is, to prevent your blood pressure from dropping. I have heard you should sit down to prevent stress on your body but I did not realise that even walking into the hospital after administration of adrenaline is dangerous. Many people may be aware of this and may initially sit down, calm themselves and administer the EpiPen when having an allergic reaction, however when they start to feel a little better, they may be inclined to stand up and walk themselves to the ambulance or walk from the car into the hospital. This vital piece of information must be shared with all so please share and inform friends and family with allergies. Basic Move Breakdown: SWAN ⠀ ⠀ Pick your part below and Swan dive away! 💙 ⠀ Part I⠀ Lie face down with legs drawn close together and arms extended forward in front of you. Lift everything up - head, arms, legs and balance. Hold for 3 breaths. Lower everything and repeat 2 more times. For many this version is plenty, and you can stop here! OR, move on to the next step.⠀ ⠀ Part II⠀ Place hands under your shoulders and press up high stretching your arms. From the peak, fall into a Swan dive releasing your arms forward. Then pull your hands back under you returning to the initial moment arching up with stretched arms. Repeat this rocking forward kicking the legs up behind you and catching yourself on your hands. Perform 8 - 10 repetitions.⠀ ⠀ Part III⠀ If you feel ready - build on Part II by taking out the part where you prop up on your arms. Instead continue the rocking back and forth increasing the range of motion each time. In boxing, observing the posture assumed by athletes, an imbalance between the anterior and posterior musculature can be very often noticed, with a prevalence of the first over the second.
