Have you ever heard of right whale dolphins? There are two species of right whale dolphins and this is a southern right whale dolphin. Both southern and northern right whale dolphins lack a dorsal fin - like beluga whales - but they are actually dolphins. Southern right whale dolphins are one of the least well-known species of dolphins, in part due to its preference for deep, oceanic waters and its distribution throughout the cool temperate sub-Antarctic waters of the southern hemisphere. In addition, they are only one of two species of right whale dolphins, but we think theyre pretty cool! 😎 📷: Pablo Caceres Contreras . . . #rightwhaledolphin #rightwhaledolphins #dolphin #species #dolphins #dolphinwatching #dolphinlove #dolphinsofinstagram #dolphins🐬 #dolphinsallday #dolphinsareawesome #southern #northern #hemisphere #antarctic #antarctica #saveourocean #saveouroceanlife - @whalesorg on Instagram

No matter how many years we spend studying killer whales, well never stop being amazed at how powerful and majestic they are. Here, a northern resident killer whale surfaces for air outside of Robson Bight Michael Bigg Ecological Reserve. Robson Bight was established in 1982 as a sanctuary for killer whales, primarily to protect the smooth gravel beaches on which they rub their bodies. It’s a unique cultural trait not found in all orca societies. The northern resident community is thriving, while the southern residents are failing to recover. It seems as though with all three threats, southern residents have been hit harder than their northern counterparts: not enough fish; too much noise and disturbance; and high levels of chemical pollutants. Do you think we should establish formal marine protected areas, sanctuaries, or ecological reserves for the endangered southern resident killer whales? Let us know in the comment section below. 📸 @ryantidman (image taken with a 600mm lens with a 1.4x extender, and cropped) - @oceansinitiative on Instagram

Khonsu Nok - @zauskush on Instagram

I am celebrating the conservation victory in Russia with this Russian killer whale that checked our boat out in the waters off Kamchatka Peninsula. The marine mammal eating killer whales has been added to the Red List which means that it will now be illegal to capture them for aquaria and zoos. Hopefully this is a road to protection of all types of killer whales in Russian waters also the fish eating types as well as a step towards a global ban of killer whales in aquaria.#kamchatka #conservation #wilderness #orca #killerwhale #powerful #whalejail #oceans @bbcearth - @hannestrager on Instagram

- @paklyanovvictor on Instagram

This shot of a dolphin and her newborn calf racing towards Small Skellig was taken 4 years ago by my then 13 year old niece, Riona. And today is Riona’s 17th birthday. Ive taken thousands of pictures and Im still dreaming of capturing a moment this good. This is the photo thats on my phones lock screen. Riona took it on a little Samung camera phone and I dont know what divinely-inspired timing was at play but I didnt even have to straighten the horizon line of the original photo. Anyone who’s ever taken a picture from a moving boat knows that it’s virtually impossible to get a level shot. Can we give her a like to encourage her to keep taking awesome photos? - F A T F I N - C A 1 7 1 B - is an orphaned adult male killer whale. Born around the turn of the century he has become a favorite of California whale watchers. Orphaned at a very young age when his mother died in the early 2000’s his survival is actually very uncommon for a whale orphaned so young. He is frequently seen traveling alone but is also sighted with other orphaned males, or sometimes with other CA Biggs matrilines. — Fatfin is easily identifiable by his thicc dorito shaped dorsal fin and his unusually slim eye patch. He is most frequently spotted in Monterey Bay, but has been seen as far north as British Colombia. Last seen on Saturday, we are excited to see where this badass whale will pop up next! France is bringing an end to the captivity of dolphins and whales! In a press conference on Tuesday, France’s minister of ecological transition announced that orca and dolphin shows will be gradually phased out over the next 7-10 years. 🇫🇷 Effective immediately, the country’s three marine parks are not allowed to import or breed dolphins or orcas, and no new dolphinariums will be built. “It is time to open a new era in our relationship with these (wild) animals” said the minister, arguing that animal welfare is a priority. . The movement against dolphin and whale captivity is unstoppable. As more countries take a stand for these intelligent animals who suffer endlessly in captive conditions, the need for sanctuaries is pressing!

We just posted Encounter #2 on our website. Encounter #2 • 24-Jan • L Pod - Haro Strait This was CWR’s first encounter with the L12s in inshore waters in over a year. Last year’s calf, L124, looked good and has a rather unique looking left saddle. It is open but the lower back part of it is missing. In addition, an L84 right side looking right side saddle and L108 like abrasions on L124’s dorsal will make it one of the easier whales to identify. Unfortunately, L41 was not present for the entire encounter. Given his age and that he looked a little thin in our January 2019 encounter, we fear he may be gone and will consider him missing unless he shows up unexpectedly in an upcoming encounter. I was raised on the east coast and def not on the sea (sup suburbia). For many reasons, I now call the Pacific home. It’s a mix of luck, drive, & privilege that got me here. Some days we spend hours at sea, searching or chumming, and see nothing. Other days, albeit rare, look like this. I’ll be taking a bit of time off from tourism this year but it only makes me more thankful for the experiences I’ve had and that much more stoked for things to come 💦 - @fakewhiteshark on Instagram

🐬J57 is a boy!🎉 “Updating our recent announcement concerning J35s new calf, J57: we can confirm that it is male. This feisty young boy was seen last evening, September 22, near Point Roberts, Washington. He was photographed rolling, spyhopping, and swimming alongside his mother, who was actively foraging for food. J57 was estimated to have been born on September 4 and is the second viable calf of mother, J35, Tahlequah. J57s brother, J47, was born in 2010. J35 also gave birth to a calf in 2018, which died; she carried her deceased calf for 17 days before letting it go. J57 is a very welcome addition. He is robust and appears healthy.” 📸 @hysazu Sara Hysong-Shimazu/Mayas Legacy and the Pacific Whale Watch Association. 🐬Confirmation: Center for Whale Research @centerforwhaleresearch #jpod #srkw #southernresidentorcas - @pnwprotectors on Instagram

Armed with our cameras, passports, and face masks, we are looking forward towards a sustainable future and I fully believe that, despite how difficult this year has been for all of us and especially those in our world’s most marginalized societies, hope is on the horizon. #косатки - @wild_dolphin_girl on Instagram

What can a bit of killer whale poop tell us about the state of our local orcas? Loads.⠀ ⠀ Just from a sample, scientists were supporting at the @uofwa can determine an orcas identity, sex, how stressed they are, and even where they are getting their salmon. Remarkable, right?!? ⠀ ⠀ Were hopeful this type of information will drive change and help protect one of Americas most endangered species.⠀ ⠀ Link in bio to read our latest piece.⠀ ⠀ 📷: Jane Cogan University of Washingtons Center for Conservation Biology Norris Palmer ⠀ ⠀ /////////⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #nature #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #wildlife #killerwhales #orcas #salmon - @vulcaninc on Instagram

I shot this at ISO 6400, not an ideal ISO for blowing up prints to fill an entire wall perhaps, but pushing my ISO is what enabled me to capture this image (and I’m still able to print it the size of a standard gallery print). Today’s tip: Don’t be afraid to push your ISO when photographing wildlife. Coming from more of a landscape and portrait background, you learn very early on to never compromise your photo by increasing the ISO over a certain point, really if at all. It is always ideal to have the lowest ISO possible and to keep it at 100. To preserve the photo and keep the ISO low, landscape and portrait photographs will make use of a tripod in order to allow them to slow down their shutter speed to let in more light while maintaining a sharp image. In the case of wildlife photography, it is essential to be flexible with your ISO and push it to maintain a fast enough shutter speed to enable your camera to capture a moving subject in low light like an orca in dark water under minimal daylight. Would you ever swim with orcas and humpbacks?! Just so you know we do this every year ;) Gear: Canon 5D Mark IV Canon 16-35mm Aquatica Housing Settings: 1/125 f/3.2 ISO 6400 Shot at 18mm Location: Norway Arctic Ocean Photo by instructor for the Wildlife Photo Course @jenninaturally #UltimatePhotoCourse - @ultimatephotocourse on Instagram

Another favorite from our recent trip to Alaska of an Orca tail slap, also known as “lobtailing.” Lobtailing is a form of non vocal communication and can be heard from several hundred feet both above and below the water. While we can’t pinpoint exactly why they do this, there are many popular theories which include attracting the opposite sex, aggressive posturing, communicating with other whales, scaring prey, defense or play, and foraging. Such an intelligent animal and truly amazing to see them in such large numbers in the wild, a night I’ll never forget. Prince Albert Sound, Alaska - @jqbrantley on Instagram

Продолжение в карусели 👉🏻 - @wild_dolphin_girl on Instagram

Thanks to @wmckenziephotography for this photo and description from a recent trip with us. There’s something mystical about whales. It affects me deeply each time I see one.

For this weeks #WildlifeWednesday we are exploring the frigid waters around Antarctica! Killer whales (Orcinus orca) come in many forms (also called ecotypes) and can be found across the globe. In the North Pacific ocean there are three known ecotypes: Residents, Biggs (formally Transients), and Offshores. Each ecotype has their own unique prey preferences, foraging techniques, dialects, behaviors and social groups. In the waters around Antarctica there are at least five distinct ecotypes: Antarctic Type A, Pack ice Type B (large form), Gerlache Type B (small form), Ross Sea Type C, and Sub-Antarctic Type D. Today we will be investigating the largest of the Antarctic killer whales, Type A. . Type A killer whales can grow to an impressive size with males reaching up to 9 meters and 7.7 meters for females. In the waters around Clayoquot Sound, Biggs killer whales are typically the largest and can reach 8 meters in length. Type A killer whales are found around the entire Antarctic continent, in open water, often in family groups of 10-15 individuals. There is evidence to suggest that they migrate from lower latitudes to Antarctic waters during the austral summer months in pursuit of their preferred prey: Antarctic mike whales. Type A killer whales use sophisticated teamwork between family members to pursue minke whales, often over long distances. Like other ecotypes, they work together in a coordinated effort to bring down their prey and share food amongst members. In addition to preying on minke whales, Type As have been recorded hunting southern elephant seals. A bull elephant seal can weigh up to 4,000kg making them the largest extant marine mammal that is not a cetacean. Analysis of stomach contents of Type A killer whales indicates that 89.7% of their diet is composed of marine mammals, 7.1% squid and 3.2% fish. . Have you ever been to Antarctica? Which ecotype would you like to learn more about? . Exciting news- we have the first match ever made of killer whales sighted off Rottnest Island! Meet George. 🐋 Thanks to citizen science, we were able to identify one male killer whale, George, seen off Rottnest Island in 2016, 2019 and now in 2020- last week. Named by one of our citizen scientists who helped with this match and contributed imagery. This data is invaluable as we continue to build the bigger picture of killer whales seen off Western Australia. 🐋 Thank you to our citizen scientists and contributors: Plaxy, Dan, Ry, Ben and Patrick. Images here credited to: Ry Beaver and Patrick Lane. 🐋 They have all donated imagery that allowed this match of an individual to occur. In 2018 the world watched with heavy hearts as J-35 (Tahlequah) carried her dead calf for 17 days, over 1,600 kilometers, throughout the Salish Sea. On September 4, 2020 Tahlequah became a mother again, giving birth to a healthy and precocious calf according to researchers at the Center of Whale Research. This calf brings the critically endangered population of Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKWs) up to 73 individuals. At least two other females in the population are known to be pregnant as well. . Tahlequahs new calf is the first successful birth since J-56 (Tofino) was first spotted in Clayoquot Sound in the spring of 2019. This new calf, and the hope for two more in the near future, brings us a cautious new optimism for the SRKWs. Nutritional stress, resulting from the decline in chinook salmon availability, is one of the many factors that pose threat to the SRKWs. Because of this, a large percentage of pregnancies end in failure and calves face a 40% mortality rate. For Tahlequah, and the rest of the SRKWs, we hope this new calf is able to thrive. . The conservation and restoration of chinook salmon runs is one of the best ways we can help safe guard the future of the SRKWs. This September, Strawberry Isle Marine Research Society will be joining Tofino Resort and Marina for Fish for the Future, a conservation initiative aimed at raising money to protect wild salmon and the ecosystems they rely on. 100% of the proceeds raised by Fish for the Future will be dedicated to various Clayoquot Sound watershed projects in order to safeguard salmon populations for the future. It is our goal to promote conservation through educational outreach and inspire people to make everyday choices that can help to protect the future of salmon and all those who rely on them. . 📸 of J35 and new calf, J57 by Katie Jones, Center for Whale Research . #killerwhales #orca #southernresidentkillerwhales #srkws #marinebiology #marineresearch #conservation #education #tofino - @simrs_tofino on Instagram

Probably my favourite sight, the moment the surface tension breaks over an orcas head. Each water molecule desperately trying to cling on, finally giving way to up to 6 tonnes of blubbery mass forcing its way through. The precision with which the orcas manipulate this is astounding. In Antarctica, they use this phenomenon to create a pressure wave to dislodge would-be dinner from ice floes. In Argentina, they use it as cover as they sneak up on unsuspecting sea lion pups on the beach. Out here in BC, Ive never seen it used as a means of catching prey (anyone know otherwise?) but Ive seen orcas playing in their own wake from these pressure waves. Sure must be fun. 🌊🌊 • Morning light, silky water. Cant ask for better conditions😊 • Taken at @orcalabbc from land with a 300mm telephoto lens. - @awildsuze on Instagram

T37A “Volker” spy-hopping with one of her young calves, T37A4 “Crinkle”. While Volker is the matriarch and leader of her family, she’s also proven to be a killer whale supermum, giving birth to five healthy calves in just 12 years. Female orcas will typically have one calf every 3-10 years, with an average of 5 years, but Volker has twice given birth to a new calf just two years after the previous one; an impressive feat considering a killer whale’s gestation period can be up to 18 months long. It goes to show what’s possible when an orca population is supported with a plentiful supply of seals, sea lions and porpoises to feed on. T37A’s five offspring are T37A1 Inyo (2007), T37A2 Inky (2009), T37A3 Spinnaker (2013), T37A4 Crinkle (2015), and her newest calf, T37A5 (2019), not yet named. With 2 years between her first two calves, and then 4 years, 2 years and 4 years between her successive calves, there seems to be a pattern emerging! If Volker continues to follow this pattern, she’s due to have another calf next year. Only time will tell! • Caption: @inherentlywild Photo: @_captain_andrew - @inherentlywild on Instagram

Wildlife is something that evokes many different emotions in people. Sometimes excitement rushes through my blood as the sight of a humpback whale breaching out of the water leaves me in disbelief. Other times, thankfulness is felt when a common dolphin turns on its side to lock eyes with me. However the feeling of pure serenity is one that I cherish most. Only a few times have I felt completely untroubled by the bounds of life to really enjoy a moment in pure peace. Time seems to slow to a crawl as these moments of bliss fill my being. One of these times was with the T124A’s last summer. No big seal hunt, or breach fest was needed to make this moment perfect. A female orca known best for carrying her dead calf with her for more than two weeks in apparent grief is now mother to a healthy male. Tahlequah, a killer whale living a pod of whales in Pacific Northwest waters, gave birth in early September. Researchers determined this week that her new calf is a boy, after examining images from a photographer who observed the orca pod on Tuesday near Point Roberts, Washington. The calf, known as J57 to researchers, was frolicking alongside Tahlequah (also known as J35) with other orcas close by, photographer Sara Hysong-Shimazu said in a news release from the Pacific Whale Watch Association. “It was really touching to see how active and social they were together and to see J57 surfacing with both his mom and surrounded by others in the community,” Hysong-Shimazu said. “He certainly seemed spunky and energetic!” Tahlequah made headlines in 2018 for carrying her dead calf, which had died minutes after being born, for 17 days. Deborah Giles, a research scientist at the University of Washington’s Center for Conservation Biology, told HuffPost at the time that she felt it was accurate to describe the behavior as grieving. “This is completely unprecedented, and honestly your guess is as good as ours as far as what is going on here,” Giles said. “I think it’s really easy to put human emotions on it, but personally I think it’s accurate. I think she is grieving.” Tahlequah isn’t the only whale in her pod to have given birth recently. J41, also known as Eclipse, gave birth to a “rambunctious little bundle of baby” on Thursday, naturalist Leah Vanderwiel said in a release from the PWWA. Eclipse’s calf’s sex and overall health are still unknown. Read more at our link in bio. // 📷 Katie Jones, Center for Whale Research - @huffpost on Instagram

27•07•2020 Yesterday I received an amazing gift, I finally saw an Adult male Orca. They are impressive and majestic animals. Look at their size compared to the boat, they are beautiful and enormous. Did you know that males are larger than females, and adult males are distinguishable (sexually dimorphic) by the increased size of their dorsal fin at sexual maturity (about 25 years). Male orcas usually grow to an average of 20-26 feet (6-8 m) and weigh 12,000 lb or more (5,400 kg). Male orcas become fully sexually mature at age 25. Between ages 12 and 15, their dorsal fin begins to grow taller and straighter, indicating the onset of sexual maturity. Male orcas typically don’t mate until after the age of 20. Males in the wild live 29 years on average, to a maximum of 50–60 years. A captive orcas lifespan is typically much shorter, often by 25 years or more. Don’t attend or support shows that keep animals in captivity. It is horrible to be locked up. An amazing orca sighting in Resurrection Bay yesterday!! The orcas were extremely active right out from Lowell Point and one of our passengers captured this epic breach! We’ve been very lucky to have seen killer whales for the past 7 days in a row, very rare for this time of year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷: @alicecaterpillar ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #majormarinetours #seward #alaska #travelAlaska #sewardalaska #kenaifjords #optoutside #exploremore #showupforAK #wildlife #kenaifjordsnationalpark #kenaifjordsnps #sewardalaska #whales #killerwhales #orcas #tbt - @majormarinetours on Instagram

A fun trip in a warm summer rain today with 2 white sided dolphins, bald eagles, puffins, gannets, guillemots and murres. We are in a change over right now where the slower capelin feeders are moving out and the faster squid feeders are moving in. Squid feeding is very fast and exciting to watch! It was too rainy for pictures today so here is a shot of white sided dolphins from another of our trips. #whales #whalewatching #trinitynl #bonavista #bonavistapeninsula #ExploreCanada #ExploreNL #fall #dolphins #bestkind #staycation #StayHomeYear2020 @newfoundlandlabrador @discoverygeonl @NLtweets - @seaofwhalesnl on Instagram

Sept. 20, afternoon tour, 4 Ever Wild: Well, we didn’t see that coming! After watching the T60 family of Bigg’s killer whales sleepily make their way along the shoreline of Salt Spring Island, they suddenly woke up. One of the youngsters breached, and then big brother T60C followed with two spectacular jumps right near our boat! Its been a killer ( 😉 ) month for #killerwhales along the trail, with our resident #orca spotted from many sites - including Ardnamurchan Lighthouse and Glengorm just last night! Pictured are our local legends John Coe and Aquarius, two male killer whales from the West Coast Community. The Scottish gaelic for orca is madah-cuain which translates as ocean-wolf - an apt name for these intelligent creatures as they live and hunt in pods, and have even been known to prey on minke whales! - Killer Whales are some of the most social animals in existence. The base of this is the matriline, the direct descent of the matriarch. A pod may form from one or more matrilines, and share descent from a distant common matriarch. The strong matrilineal bond makes the social order very stable.

Gather your pod! We have something for you to do to help Southern Resident orcas! The petition deadline was extended so you have a few more days to be their voice! We are calling for Congressional leaders to develop a comprehensive solution to restore a healthy Snake River which will benefit everyone - more salmon, more orca snacks, and stronger economies for the communities across the Pacific Northwest. You dont have to live in the Pacific NW to sign and it takes less than a minute. Signed already? Send it to someone in your pod. Its looking like whale soup out there these days! It has been an odd year to date. Between Covid-19 and strange weather patterns that have interupted regularly scheduled tours, it has been a challenging yet rewarding season. Although a bit late, the whales are beginning to pile in in large numbers. With #biggsorca becoming more plentiful, and the #humpbackwhales beginning to migrate in from their prolonged stop over at Swiftsure bank, the whale watching season is really heating up! We had a lovely whale watching tour in Campbell River this afternoon with Aboriginal Journeys Wildlife Tours. We got super lucky and 10 minutes in found the orcas. We watched big fin for a couple hours while he lead us out in to choppy waters. It was a great day for whales! 🐳💙🌊 _____________________________________________ #whales #whale #killerwhales #orca #campbellriver #explorebc #destinationbc #wildlife #wildlifephotography #canada #nature #naturephotography #natgeoyourshot #ocean #oceanlife #imagesofcanada #britishcolumbia #vancouverisland #ourdailyplanet #earth_shotz #earthpix #earthoutdoors #explorecanada #island #islandlife - @jennifer.lynn007 on Instagram

The newest Southern Resident orca, just a few weeks old, has been confirmed to be a BOY. According to reports, baby (J57) and his mom Tahlequah (J35) are both doing well. . It has been two years since Tahlequah lost her young calf who lived for only half an hour, whom she carried for 17 days in a Tour of Grief that garnered worldwide attention. . The endangered Southern Resident population of the Salish Sea continue to face the challenges of their declining food source of chinook salmon, boat noise and traffic, and pollution. The birth of J57 is very good news, bringing the population of these whales to 73. We wish mom, calf and all of the Jpod residents well! 🐳 Photo: @hysazu #southernresidentkillerwhales #tahlequah #orca #jpod #srkw #endangered #wildlife #nature #sanjuanislands #pod #motherhood - @whalesanctuaryproject on Instagram

A New Calf for the Southern Resident Orcas! It has been just two years since Tahlequah (J-35), a member of the endangered Southern Resident orca population, gave birth to a calf, who lived only half an hour. Last week, Tahlequah gave birth once again. And according to the Center for Whale Research on September 6th, her new baby, J-57, appears to be doing well: “Her new calf appeared healthy and precocious, swimming vigorously alongside its mother in its second day of free-swimming life. We know that it was not born today because its dorsal fin was upright, and we know that it takes a day or two to straighten after being bent over in the womb, so we assign its birthday as September 4, 2020. (Ergo gestation commenced in February 2019). . The good news and excitement over the new birth is tempered by the fact that the southern residents are officially designated an endangered population and that the mortality rate for young calves is 40 percent. Their troubles are largely due to three factors: the continuing decline of their preferred food chinook salmon; boat noise and traffic; and the pollution of the waters of the Salish Sea. However, the new baby is the third to be born to the southern residents since 2019, and the other two continue to survive. We wish them all well in the days ahead! Head to our website to read our full blog post about this wonderful news! Link in bio. The Matriarch: A11 was an incredible mother. Not only to her own daughter, A35, who now continues to grow her own family, but A11 took on the role of adopted mother to Springer, A73. After Springer was re introduced into the Northern resident orca community in 2002 she spent many years in the company of A11 and her family until sadly in 2013, A11 passed away. Her legacy lives on in every recording we make. The beautiful delivery of the N4 passed down from generations before her now transfers to the newest member of the family, A52’s baby, born this year! May her life inspire all the matriarchs out there to carry the strength to nurture the way she did! 🥰 To find out more about how you can support Orcalab and wild Orcas head to orcalab.org and listen live now: 👈🏻🎧 Image 📸 by @wild_sky_productions #orca #matriarch #northernresidentorcas #killerwhale #blackfish #mother #family #community #britishcolumbia #bc #nature #wildlife #canon #photography - @orcalabbc on Instagram

Today marks 50 years since the Orca now know as “Lolita” has been living at the Miami Seaqurium after being violently ripped from her family she was just 4 years old. For five decades she’s been confined to live in the smallest orca tank in the world. Despite repeated efforts to free her and send her back to her natal waters of the Salish sea in Washington State, the Seaqurium refuses to release her saying she’d never survive in the wild. But the plan is not to just abandon her in the open sea, but rather to a sanctuary in her natal waters where she’d have more room to swim and interact with her family pod that still lives there. - @louisaguirre on Instagram
