‘Inner War’ is a recent piece created after a friend committed suicide completely out of the blue. I was having my brain scanned for a voice study and I asked to use the MRI to capture a portrait instead of payment. The portrait shows me attempting to hide, and stop the view of my expressions. Of course the radio waves pass right through me revealing not just what’s beneath my hands but my skull and brain. I am transparent and seen with intense truth. Mental illness is on the rise, and more than ever we need to talk and support each other. We are so much more complex than we can give light to, many quietly at war with themselves. We must offer guidance and encourage sharing. Normalmente, el daño cerebral que se produce conduce a un deterioro mental de intensidad variable, llegando en ocasiones a provocar lesiones y secuelas muy importantes en el sistema nervioso central. Hay que tener en cuenta, que cuando se produce una lesión cerebral severa como consecuencia de una sacudida de la masa encefálica, bien tenga como base un maltrato infantil intencionado o como causa de maniobras de reanimación en las que el niño es zarandeado de forma inconsciente, siempre va ocurrir antes de los tres primeros años de vida, y en su gran mayoría, en el transcurso del primer año. En cuanto a las personas que cometen el maltrato, por orden de frecuencia son, los padres, los compañeros sentimentales de las madres, las mujeres que cuidan a los niños en sus casas, y por último, las madres. El cuadro clínico más habitual entre un 40% y un 70% de los casos debuta con crisis epilépticas. De la misma forma suele ser frecuente: . ✔️ Irritabilidad ✔️ Letargia. ✔️ Alteraciones del tono muscular ✔️ Falta de apetito ✔️ Vómitos ✔️ Pérdida de conciencia ✔️ Incluso trastornos respiratorios Ante la sospecha es necesario posterior a la evaluación clínica la realización de una TAC de cráneo, de igual forma los estudios oftalmológicos serán imprescindibles desde los primeros momentos, para la detección precoz y seguimiento de las hemorragias retinianas. As per a report on DNA (27th September), all four named accused in the case have been arrested. On social media, not many people are talking about this case, no prominent calls for justice were made. No prominent calls for the arrest of these criminals were heard. Sometimes I wonder, why this kind of selective approach is taken on social media where people speak about any injustice only when it suits their political narrative. That is the dead body of a kind, beautiful brother named Ronald Greene. The Louisiana State Police literally beat Ronald Greene to death AFTER A TRAFFIC VIOLATION (which police won’t even name - by the way). This is not hyperbole. I just released the audio from one of the police officers saying “we beat the ever-loving fucking out of him...then he went limp.” In the police reports, 7 different officers said Ronald died from a car accident. Little 2-year-old “Mariana” was born with club feet, a seizure disorder, and a heart condition that made doctors in her country hesitant to perform surgery. We sent out a message looking for doctors in the states who would be willing to help, and a team leader in Utah asked his roommate if his father, Dr. Nelson of Cache Valley Hospital, would be willing. He and Dr. Daniel Huff gladly obliged to help. This incredible act of service would not have happened without our amazing network of volunteers! My journey with heart failure is still so young at this stage. I’m 28 years old, and was completely healthy until the end of 2018. I got a chest infection early November which cleared up quickly but then mid December I started getting similar symptoms. I ignored it over the festive period but ended up back on antibiotics again just after Christmas. Skip forward to the 19th Jan and I got my mum to take me to A and E because I could hardly breathe. It took a whole plethora of tests and needles to make the decision that I may have dilated cardiomyopathy or Myocarditis. Docs still can’t give me a reason for this- could be a viral infection but it couldn’t be proved! We tried to get me home on tablet medication but I went down hill again very quickly. Now I’m confirmed active on the urgent transplant list and I’m waiting for a new heart at hospital. September is #nicuawarenessmonth so I wanted to share about the lead up to the 3 and 4 weeks Sam and Zelda spent in the NICU. We were shocked to find out that we were having twins, but the idea of holding two babies in my arms at birth was something I dreamed of doing. Every twin pregnancy is high risk (especially with my history of needing bedrest) so we knew we had to be prepared for a likely NICU stay. At 31 weeks pregnant, I found out that I had gestational diabetes AND that Baby B (Zelda) was IUGR. So after a myriad of appointments and an eventual failed BPP scan and stress test at 32 weeks, I was sent to the hospital for a possible c-section. Things stabilized overnight, but I contracted the flu! So I spent 8 days in the hospital hoping and praying to keep these babies inside while living in isolation. Thankfully, my mom had flown in the week before so she was there to help Michael with the girls at home (who were only 21 months and 3.25 years old at the time). After my discharge, I was home for 5 days before returning back to the hospital for the real delivery. That morning both Baby A (Sam) and Baby B (Zelda) failed their BPP scans so straight to the hospital I went. Here I am meeting Sam (5lbs - top photo) and Zelda (3.5 lbs - bottom photo) for the first time, about 3.5 hours after they were born. Of course I never got the experience of holding the babies together in my arms after birth since they were immediately whisked away to be put on oxygen. I would have to wait a few weeks before getting to feel the joy of holding two newborns at once! Our time in the NICU feels like a distant memory now that it has been 2.5 years; however, I’ll never forget what it felt like to have my heart split in half with two toddlers at home and two preemies in the hospital (and then it was even harder once Sam was discharged 5 days before Zelda).
