Symptoms usually include pain, swelling, joint stiffness, limited range of motion and difficulty with many functional tasks. Severe pain or functional loss associated with OA of the knee or hip often leads to joint replacement surgery. . 🔎In a study by Deyle GD et al (citation below), investigators aimed to discover the difference between subjects with OA performing a home exercise program and another group of subjects performing a home exercise program with the addition of several visits of manual therapy. Outcomes were measured at 4 weeks, 8 weeks and one year. The results demonstrated that the addition of manual therapy provided greater symptom relief temporarily and that by 1 year, both groups had improved almost equally as compared to baseline. . 🧠Maybe the main takeaway from this research is that a simple home exercise program can have a dramatic impact of the life of an individual with OA of the knee. While manual therapy provided by in-person physical therapy helped in the short-term, it did not significantly alter long-term outcomes. . ✅Swipe left to see a few of the exercises that were included in this study. . 1️⃣Heel Slide with Strap - Slide as far as tolerable. 10 reps with a 3-second hold. 2️⃣Calf Stretch - Perform daily (3x30 secs). 3️⃣Hamstring Stretch - Raise as high as tolerable. [ PODEMOS TRATAR CONSERVADORAMENTE FRATURAS DOS OSSOS DA PERNA?] As fraturas da diáfise da tíbia estão entre as fraturas mais frequentes dos ossos longos. Uma porção considerável delas são expostas e geralmente consequente a trauma de alta energia acometendo um grupo de pessoas jovens e ativas. Para essas situações, o tratamento cirúrgico está bem estabelecido através da osteossíntese interna, quer seja com placa quer seja com haste intramedular. Quando a cobertura cutânea apresenta lesão mais complexa, a fixação definitiva pode ser feita com fixador externo (linear ou circular). Entretanto, em situações especiais, podemos lançar mão do tratamento incruento preconizado por Sarmiento, chamado de tratamento funcional (imobilização gessada permitindo carga e mobilidade do joelho precoce). Atualmente, para o tratamento incruento, a fratura deve ter pouco desvio, não ter lesões cutâneas e reservada a pacientes com pouco demanda funcional. Sarmiento preconiza inicialmente gessada cruropodálica com possibilidade de carga de acordo com a tolerância do paciente, por um período inicial variando entre 3 a 6 semanas, dependendo da estabilidade da fratura. Após esse período, troca-se essa imobilização gessada por um gesso PTB (Patellar tendon bearing). Esse gesso circular, usa uma pequena quantidade de algodão ortopédico nas proeminências ósseas, moldagem no tendão patelar de tal forma que permita extensão e flexão total do joelho, tornozelo mantido plantígrado e carga estimulada desde o início. Unless you are a nurse or you’ve sat at a bedside watching a devoted nurse work for 12 and a half continuous hours to care for your loved one, it’s hard to grasp what this noble profession entails and how it breathes life into others. Contrary to medicinal and societal advancements, we’ve got a long way to go when it comes to understanding the unique and pivotal role nurses play in patient care. I come from a culture like many others where the taboo stands that nursing is a woman’s profession. There are others that reduce the profession to someone who only renders hygienic duties. It’s important to educate and show the world the behind the scenes. I don’t mean sharing filtered pictures. I mean sharing narratives. Such as the nurses that perform 3-4 hour dressing changes on complex burn patients, the nurses titrating medications drop by drop to keep a dying person’s heart barely alive, the midwife who stands all night to assure the birth of a new born, and yes, the nurse that cleans your loved one multiple times a day and night to restore their dignity while you return home in confidence that they will be okay and taken care off. I’m talking about the unsung heroes. So yes, we clean our patient’s bowel movements, clean up their vomit, bathe them when they are incapacitated, but we also love them like our own families, we also wipe away tears, we also pray with them, we also console fearful families, we also speak up and give them a voice and empower them. Guarulhos continua a realizar teste rápido para Covid-19 A iniciativa tem por objetivo testar as pessoas que já tiveram contato com pacientes infectados pelo novo coronavírus. Aqueles que apresentam resultado positivo para Covid-19 são encaminhados para acompanhamento na Unidade Básica de Saúde onde são cadastrados. Até o final do mês mais quatro dias de mutirão serão realizados na cidade, todos eles das 9h às 15h. Nos dias 20 e 21, a testagem será realizada no CEU Pimentas, localizado na estrada do Caminho Velho, 351. E nos dias 27 e 28 será no CEU Presidente Dutra, situado no final da rua Maria de Paula Motta. Para fazer o teste no mutirão não é necessário agendamento prévio, basta levar documento de identidade e cartão do SUS. A única restrição é não estar com síndrome gripal no dia do exame. No entanto, as pessoas que já tiveram contato com pacientes infectados pelo novo coronavírus também têm a opção de agendar o teste rápido nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde. O agendamento deve ser feito de forma presencial. Assim como no mutirão, a testagem na UBS é feita por meio de uma picada no dedo e o resultado fica pronto em aproximadamente 15 minutos. - @guarulhoshoje on Instagram

What a day yesterday. I got to spend some time with @teagueholmes and were both injured. We came upon a parking attendant who told us that we could park over there and run over to the other side of the building. We both cant run, so I drove him over there and he hopped out of the car to do his errand. After that I went to the doctor for my 6 week checkup and he said that I could now sleep without my back brace on We both immediately started reminiscing about the time we got to ski the Grand Envers with Cédric Aubert.
