Если пролетарии не в курсе, то биде - небольшая ванна с фонтанчиком для мытья наружных половых органов 🚿 Есть мысль как спасти эти лавки, на которых сидеть можно максимум полминуты - приделать деревянные сидушки, спинки и подлокотники. Но непонятно зачем... И если уж делали из гранита, то могли бы выбрать породу максимально повторяющую постамени мемориала Борцов за власть советов... This Memorial Day, I ask Americans to pause for a moment and offer a prayer of thanks for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for you and every freedom-loving American. Unfortunately, many of us never take that important moment to really appreciate the sacrifice that was made. Let me tell you my story. A few years ago, as a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I traveled to visit the American cemeteries in both Europe and North Africa. On that Memorial Day, our committee participated in the Memorial Day ceremony at Netherlands American Cemetery. It was a beautiful day, and the ceremony was moving. A Dutch men’s choir sang ‘God Bless America,’ the Royal Netherlands Air Force did a ‘missing man formation’ flyover, and local residents and their children placed flowers on each grave. Stories were shared of the heroism of American and Allied soldiers who defeated the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge. After the ceremony, my wife and I walked past every grave to pay our respects. The white crosses and Stars of David glistened in the sunlight. At one of the graves, I paused to read the inscription, and it brought me to tears. In simple black letters etched in the marble cross it read, ‘Private Roy C. Irwin, New Jersey, December 28, 1944.’ The day Roy C. Irwin died fighting for America was the same day I was born. All of a sudden, the meaning of Memorial Day became clear. On the day my mother gave me life, Roy C. Irwin sacrificed his life for the freedom I have enjoyed and cherished for 72 years. On this Memorial Day, I say, ‘God bless Roy C. Irwin, and God bless America’s veterans.’ - @senatorisakson on Instagram

De acuerdo con el Halajá (reglas religiosas judías), los judios no deben destruir tumbas judías, y tampoco se les permite transportar una tumba a otro lugar. Cuando el “El antiguo cementerio judío de Praga” quedó sin espacio y era imposible conseguir tierras para enterrar a los muertos, simplemente se colocaban capas de tierra y tumbas sobre tumbas. Este cementerio tiene aproximadamente 12.000 tumbas de judíos, la más antigua de 1439. El cementerio acumuló más de 12 capaz de tierra. Aquí tampoco vas a encontrar las típicas coronas flores, sino pequeñas piedras, siguiendo las costumbres judías. Para ellos, poner una piedra contribuía simbólicamente a la formación de la tumba. Es un tributo al muerto. La piedra, a diferencia de las flores, tiene la particularidad de ser una creación muy antigua y de vida muy larga, de cierto modo las piedras son “eternas” ¿no?. Esto representa la forma en la que los judíos se enfrentan a la muerte, sabemos que el alma sigue existiendo y lo único que se fue es el cuerpo. ✡️ ¿Que te parece un entierro junto a 12mil almas más? After a fruitful few years of learning how to run and operate a design studio, it’s with the utmost excitement and pleasure that we announce that, well, we’re done. As a studio, we have always strived to make honest and interesting work for clients and ourselves. We had the immense privilege of learning everything from the fine art of proposal writing to creating identity systems that react to music. And we tried to share what we learned, too. 1881 is the earliest burial at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, H.H. Bowen, followed by Eveline Tracy in 1883. In 1888 John Durbin surveyed the cemetery and named it Fallbrook Cemetery. 1904 the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #339 purchased the cemetery. Later The Masonic Lodge #317 took over ownership and care of the cemetery but the name remains Fallbrook Odd Fellows Cemetery to this day. J.L. Durbin was the homesteader who formed the land as a cemetery. P.G. Hindorff was an early homesteader in Rainbow. Albert & Carrie Clemmons deeded more land to the cemetery. George Westfall was a busineesman and County Board of Supervisors in the early 1900s. La fontana di Lungotevere Testaccio fu eretta nel 1869 sotto il pontificato di Pio IX per celebrare le campagne di scavo condotte dallarcheologo Pietro Ercole Visconti. La fontana è composta di una quinta scenografica in laterizio incorniciata da lesene e volute in travertino e coronata da festoni che sorreggono lo stemma pontificio. Today we remember the six UNC alumni lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001: Karleton Fyfe ’92, Mary Lou Hague ’96, Andrew King ’83, Ryan Kohart ’98, Dora Menchaca ’78 (MSPH) and Christopher Quackenbush ’79. Each year on the anniversary, the GAA places flowers at the 9/11 Memorial Garden on Stadium Drive between 8:46 and 9:03 a.m., the times when hijacked planes struck the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. During this current difficult period, we reflect on that tragedy, steadfast in our remembrance of that time, of this place and of the lives of the alumni and thousands of others cut short. - @uncgaa on Instagram

In high school I would often go to cemeteries at night with friends. They were never frightening places. They were comforting. . . . I took a random ramble today and found myself at St. Michael’s Cemetery which is a massive mid-19th century cemetery. . . . It was the perfect day to peruse the tombstones and statuary. To trace the migration of people into the community based on the shifting family names through the decades. . . . While I love cemeteries as the site of historical significance, I do think it’s a waste of space. I want to be a biodegradable tree pod. It’s makes so much more sense. It would a biologically more cyclical. I wish more people would do it. And you still have something to visit. Sure it’s not as gothic as a tombstone but to become a tree. Thoughtful Thursday. Thankful Thursday. Therapeutic Thursday. All of the above indeed. My maternal grandfather died on Monday at age 101 in Seoul, S Korea. These photos show the funeral process in S. Korea plus the #tbt photos of him (and my grandmother who died a few years ago) at my wedding in 1998. I’ve been processing all week what I’m feeling and able to share it now in words. It feels like the end of an era. He was the last of my grandparents to go, and lived a very long, fulfilling life! I am at peace not only about his death, but my upbringing. I am thankful to say, I am proud of my family, Korean heritage, and what my grandparents have done and signify in my life. Yes, I did struggle greatly with my identity and know that I was definitely not a favorite mainly because I was the third oldest grandchild, second girl and didn’t compare with the other two cousins! 😭 However, a poignant moment I will always recall was the time my grandfather told me in 2002, I was raising my kids very well. That. Was. A. Moment. The first, the last, the only positive affirmation I had ever received from my grandfather. We were in Seoul visiting over the holidays and my son at the time was only 8 months old and never cried. :). So, he called him an “angel” in Korean and acknowledged that it must be from my parenting. 😂. In all honesty, my son was just a really good baby. 🤣However, I graciously accepted the compliment and owned it because it was so IMPACTFUL. It was then that I realized I had finally come to a reconciliation in my self-identity crisis. Transformed from that day on, and so passionate about the work I do today in mental health. 🤗 Grandfather 왜 할아버지wrote a book last year and he chronicles his life and includes his grandchildren. Yes, me too! And, he makes me sound much more accomplished than I am. Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery has approximately 57 acres, making it one of the largest existing Roman Catholic cemeteries in Baltimore. This cemetery houses 67,000 bodies and still has room for about 10,000 more. The most famous people buried there include Babe Ruth’s mother, Catherine Ruth, and Henry Gunther, who is known as the last casualty of World War I. Today is National Police Remembrance Day. A small, socially distanced ceremony was held at the police memorial on St Kilda Rd today. People were able to attend virtually. As part of our walk today we took it in this afternoon. It is well within our 5km. Here are some pictures our walking companion took. During todays ceremony a plaque was unveiled in honour of the four police officers who died during what was supposed to be a routine car compound on the Eastern Freeway, near Kew. It was an awful night. Early in the pandemic and many of us watched TV as is unfolded. Killed in the accident were officers Josh Prestney, Glen Humphris, Kevin King and Lynette Taylor. Kevin had strong links to 3121 and many people know the family. Josh attended Xavier. His mum worked at Burke Hall. People in and around 3121/3122/3101 may be familiar with the family. Travel Tuesday – Miller’s Park Sculptures, Lucas, Kansas Roy and Clara Miller created their park as a rest stop and recreation area along Kansas Highway 18, both for the citizens of Lucas and the public. They welcomed travelers, offered fresh water, eventually built cabins, and added playground equipment and picnic tables. Most importantly, they shared their small sculpture-filled park with visitors. They built miniature buildings for a tiny town and fashioned a rock garden of rocks and shells they gathered on their travels. During the 1920s, it was a Lucas gathering spot. Time passed, and the property was eventually sold in 1969 to settle the estate. The sculptures were moved to Hays, Kansas and became a tourist site known as Frontier Village. Initially a popular attraction, the effort faded and the sculptures were left to languish, but through the generosity and vision of Henry Schwaller IV, Miller’s Park returned to Lucas, Kansas. In 2012 and 2013, Kohler Foundation took on the preservation of Miller’s Park. The foundation was joined by a team of enthusiastic local volunteers, art conservators from Houston and Los Angeles, and preservation technicians to preserve the remaining forty-five sculptures. Miller’s Park now has a permanent location adjacent to the Garden of Eden in Lucas at 317 E. 2nd Street and is open daily. माणिकदुर्ग - चिपळूण तालुक्यातील मांडकी गावाच्या मागील डोंगरावर असलेला माणिकदूर्ग लोकांच्या विस्मृतीत गेला होता. पुण्याचे इतिहास संशोधक सचिन जोशी यांनी केलेल्या संशोधनामुळे हा गड प्रकाशात आला. प्राचिन काळी पालशेत बंदरात उतरलेला माल घाटमार्गांनी कर्हाडच्या बाजारपेठेत जात असे. या घाटमार्गावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी माणिकदूर्गाची योजना करण्यात आली होती. माणिकगडाला दुर्गेचा डोंगर या नावानेही ओळखले जाते. विजयनगर साम्राज्यात माणिकदूर्ग किल्ला होता. पवार नामक व्यक्तीच्या ताब्यात हा किल्ला होता. पालशेत बंदरात उतरलेला माल विविध घाटमार्गाने कर्हाडच्या बाजारपेठेत जात असे. या मार्गावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी नवतेदूर्ग, कासारदूर्ग, माणिकदूर्ग, भैरवगड इ. किल्ल्यांची मालिका होती. आदिलशहाने विजयनगरचे साम्राज्य जिंकल्यावर हे किल्ले त्याच्या ताब्यात गेले. हे किल्ले त्याने पाडले; यामुळे आज हे किल्ले इतिहासात जमा झाले आहेत. मांडकी गावामागील गर्द झाडी असलेल्या डोंगरावर माणिकदूर्गचे अवशेष विखुरलेले आहेत. किल्ल्यात प्रवेश केल्यावर उजवीकडे गेल्यावर किल्ल्याच्या टोकावर सुकाई देवीचे मंदिर आहे. या मंदिराकडे जाताना ठिकठिकाणी झाडांच्या बुंध्यात अडकलेले व गवतात लपलेले किल्ल्याच्या तटबंदीचे अवशेष दिसतात. सुकाई देवी मंदिराच्या मागिल बाजूस एक गोलाकार उंचवटा दिसतो. तेथे गाडला गेलेला बुरुज असण्याची शक्यता आहे. या बुरुजाला वळसा घालून किल्ला उजवीकडे ठेवत अवघड वाटेने काही अंतर गेल्यावर ५ लेणी पाहायला मिळतात. तिथून परत किल्ल्यात प्रवेश केला त्या ठिकाणी येऊन डावीकडे गेल्यावर (किल्ल्यावरील सुकाई देवीचे मंदिराच्या विरूध्द बाजूच्या) टोकावर पाण्याची २ टाक आहेत. त्यापैकी एका टाक्यावर यक्ष प्रतिमा कोरलेल्या आहेत. याशिवाय गडावरच्या गर्द झाडीत विविध प्रकारचे पक्षी व फुलपाखर पाहायला मिळतात. #gadvaari #raigadfort #shivnerifort #monsoontreks #lovetrekking #trekdiaries #trekwomen #trekkers #kothaligad #trekkingfamily #mahulifort #kalsubai #kalavantinfort #petervangeit #maharashtra_trekking_memes #sahyadri_kille_official #laibharimanus #dongaryatra_official #dongaryatra #maharashtra_desha #jiddimaratha #trekkinglife #gadvedetrekkers #gadvede #jkv #_the_great_maratha_96_k #trekkingntravelling #trekking.lover #nustabhatkantii_ #maharashtra_forts - @gadvaari on Instagram

This marker is a bit confusing for me. John O. Martell was killed in 1861 at age 18. I can find zero information on him. Even his FindaGrave entry says he was a civil war soldier (note the Union carved into his stone and the flag) BUT the civil war didn’t start until April of that year, he was killed in February. Freisener Wegekreuze und Gedenkstein zur 750-Jahr Feier Liebe Mitbürgerinnen und Mitbürger, in den letzten Wochen wurden verschiedene Wegekreuze innerhalb unseres Ortes gereinigt. Der Gedenkstein zur 750-Jahr Feier in der Schulstraße / Ecke Stäbelstraße wurde vom Moos befreit und der Schriftzug erneuert. Auch die Kreuze wurden neu angestrichen, vom Moos befreit und die Schriftzüge erneuert. Hierfür einen herzlichen Dank an die Mitarbeiter unseres Bauhofs! Allen Bürgerinnen und Bürgern, die an diesen Kreuzen das Unkraut zupfen und für Blumenschmuck sorgen sei ebenfalls herzlichst Dank gesagt!
