Read this again and again until it sinks in 👏🏼 I currently have this displayed in my house because it’s something I need to remind myself of daily until it just becomes habit. Becoming a mama of two has definitely had its ups and downs, recovering from my second pregnancy and cesarean, my husband going back to work and me trying to figure it out on my own. I thought I had it under control, then I realised I didn’t. I wasn’t happy, I was cranky or down most day’s for no apparent reason, I felt like mentally I wasn’t really there and I realised it was because I wasn’t looking after myself. I wasn’t eating properly, if at all then binge eating when I got the chance, I wasn’t being kind to myself. I decided to embark on a little self love journey, that I’m striving to turn into my reality, my life I guess! Throwback 😂💕🌸 Two years ago, I was in the final days of nesting and prepping my home-birth space! I was at the point where I didn’t think I’d ever go into labor, cranky and exhausted. SURPRISE I did indeed go into labor 3 days later. Marcus and I were taking walks every night with Mattie before her bedtime. We went team green and had no idea the sex of the baby. Fun fact I had the names picked out pretty early on but hadn’t shared them with Marcus yet in case he didn’t like them because I loved them 😂🤣 , So Marcus spent the final days of my pregnancy on baby sites searching for a boy/girl name. I vetoed all his ideas, and then the day before I went into labor, I texted him while he was at work “ Boy= Johnny Marvel + my girl option (which I’m not spilling 😂). He responded with YES DONE. Today marks 1 full year from the worst day of my life - the day I walked out of the doctors office after being told my baby had no heartbeat. I planned to write a longer blog post today reflecting on this experience, but I still can’t quite bring myself to do it. There is still a lot of hurt there. A lot of trauma. You know that saying “time heals all wounds”? I don’t know how much truth there is to that. Maybe the pain is less excruciating. Maybe it doesn’t continue to keep me up at night. But time can never erase what happened. I feel weird today. Both mourning the life we lost a year ago while simultaneously feeling so excited and happy over the life we are about to welcome into our arms. It’s so strange to me that you can be in a place where pain and grief can coexist with excitement and joy. But here I am. Just existing in this space. Always reminded that life is both messy and beautiful. We had our 20 week anatomy scan today! It went so well. Baby boy is healthy and super wiggly in there, and we feel so relieved with the good news. Now I can barely keep my eyes open by days end. Sleeping in is a thing of the past. Before you I didn’t worry so much. I didn’t know how scary the world could be until I saw your eyes and knew I had something worth protecting. Now every time I open my eyes I become a little more afraid of all the ways I won’t be able to keep you safe. Somedays I miss the life I had before you. Somedays, the really hard ones, I even wish I could go back, just for a day or maybe a weekend. But even on those days when I want a break. The days when I want a mini retreat back to my old life. I still love you like crazy. Mama, it’s ok to miss your old life. Not only have we been dealt different cards in motherhood but in life as well. Going through what I went through with my postpartum journey, I have had to endure some pretty harsh judgements. I have also experienced amazing compassion and unconditional love. The judgement from others only fed the shame inside of me. It was the love that got me through the hardest of times. Let’s be the change! ▪️Let’s give a smile to the struggling mom at the store. ▪️Give a hug to a mom dealing with anxiety you may or may not feel. ▪️Offer help to the mom that is struggling to get out of bed by calling to check in on her or maybe offer to help take her kids for a play date. About to enter my 8th month of pregnancy like 😀 Ooof the fatigue is REAL, but I still have energy that comes in waves so I’m grateful for that. The human body amazes me & I love witnessing it doing its thing. Counting the little victories in my daily routine has been the key to my motivation in this final stretch! 💫 Everyday looks different but here are some things that made today a winning day: I had some much needed quality time out in nature with my man after we dropped teeny off at school, managed to get a 35 min workout in, completed a few work assignments & responded to all my emails, washed and styled my hair (lol that’s legit a win ok!), & I also filmed this makeup look (swipe for a sneak peek). The highlight of my day was enjoying a home cooked meal (c/o my babe!) and having some amazing teeny time 😌 oh and finally getting some fall pumpkins from the grocery store ha! 1 5 W E E K S 🖤 . We have made an informed decision to use a midwife for this pregnancy and birth! This is something we have researched, carefully considered, and prayed about. We feel at peace and so confident about this decision moving forward. We did not use a midwife for either of our first two, but I know this is the right decision for us this time around. If you’d like to read Landon and Adeline’s birth stories, I’ve linked them in my bio. There are a lot of factors contributing to this decision, but one of the biggest ones is how quick my past labor and deliveries have been. They aren’t so fast that I run the risk of giving birth in the car, but fast enough that I won’t have time for an epidural. So why not give birth at home instead? 35 weeks pregnant, which means we only have 35 DAYS until we finally get to meet!! 😭🥰 This little guy is moving most of the day and I’m pretty positive he has bruised my right rib cage 🤣. We have an ultrasound coming up later this week to see if he’s still breech or if he flipped himself around so🤞🏼we get some good news! It’s getting harder to bend over and getting anything off the ground is an Olympic sport at this point (same with rolling over in bed) but I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. 39 weeks!
