This Red Fox is in care at our wildlife hospital and being treated for sarcoptic mange. Look how improved she looks, even after just one week in care! Mange is caused by sarcoptic mites and causes extreme irritation, which often leads to hair loss. Severe infestations commonly cause emaciation and dehydration as the animal is so desperately itchy, that they become unthrifty and not able to hunt at a self-sustaining level. Many patients admitted with mange also have secondary skin infections or lesions. It’s notoriously challenging to get these patients in for care - they don’t know we’re trying to help them, so safely capturing them is difficult. Luckily, a caring resident was able to safely live-trap this individual to get them into us for care. PHILADELPHIA - ADOPT US Former fosters Toby and Chipper need a new home. They are not adjusting well with the resident cat and need a home together with no other cats. Sadly, this past July, their mom passed away and their teenage sister went to live with family and was unable to take her cats. Zoe Welham developed an interest in bowel cancer while she was working on a complex scientific research project in graduate school.⁠ ⁠ As the inaugural PhD recipient of The Penn Foundation Scholarship, Zoe’s research will provide valuable new knowledge regarding the biological rules that govern bowel polyp growth – something which is still not fully understood.⁠ ⁠ Comparing the microbiomes of polyps at different risk levels for developing bowel cancer, Zoe’s research aims to better understand how the gut microbiome influences the growth of bowel polyps. A huge thank you to our supporter Lorna Stanger, from Caithness, for raising an incredible £5,142 to help people living with cancer find their best way through. Lorna endured a jaw-dropping duathlon, running and cycling 755-miles over five days - starting from her home, running from Thurso to Inverness and cycling the famous North Coast 500. Wow! 😮 The original plan of running back to Thurso after cycling the North Coast 500 had to be changed, due to a knee injury. Determined to finish the challenge as planned, Lorna ran from Inverness to Thurso covering 112 miles in one day, only two weeks after completing the duathlon 🚲 🏃‍♀️ Covering the 755 miles of remote landscape, Lorna certainly wasnt alone. She was cheered on by friends, family and car horns tooting in support. Lorna is pictured here in our Macmillan greens: Wearing my Macmillan t-shirt made a huge difference. This amendment will protect UK farmer from low standard imports by ensuring they meet or exceed domestic standards. Elle était enfin en sécurité et ne manquait pas de nourriture et de caresses. Mais les années sont passées et aucune famille adaptée ne sintéressait à elle. ⏱ Trop peureuse, fuyant les inconnus, elle ne provoquait pas de coup de coeur. Jusquau petit miracle... Elle découvre enfin la vie de famille, la vie tout simplement. ❤️ Une vie quelle mérite, elle qui est si douce et gentille une fois en confiance. Meet Reign & His Mama! ⁠ ⁠ SMA has taught me that I would unconditionally love my child through anything. I mean, of course I knew or told myself that before, but you never expect anything like this. Reign has taught me that you dont have to say or do much to make a huge impact, just be yourself. He is so charismatic, master of the eyeroll and hand wave. He also finger paints!! Such a trooper. This baby has gone through CONSTANT medical intervention and is now stronger and braver than me ⁠ Reign was diagnosed at 4 months but displayed symptoms shortly after birth. None of the doctors we went to could tell us why his chest was so sunken in and why he wasnt moving at all. He had many many tests and we were told that he was fine and not to compare him to other babies. ⁠ Issues continued such as a severely curved spine as well as super fast breathing. Our current pediatrician took one look at him and sent him to the stollery right away, she told us it was floppy baby syndrome. After a week of being in the stollery we had a confirmative blood test for SMA. ⁠ ⁠ One complexity of SMA that I find difficult is the loads of medical machines and equipment that follow him everywhere he goes. 24/7 bipap, oximiter, food pump (and all that comes with it), suction machine, bagger, all his cords. Its quite a challenge and a workout to get Reign out of the house but well worth it to see his face light up at the outdoors. Reign was hospitalized for 7 months after a cardiac arrest in the middle of Buffet Royale at 5 months old so being home is fantastic! I hope that one day Reign can be free of all these machines and have the mask of his face. Something you may not know...⠀ ⠀ The kids were not 💯 last week and I’m totally neurotic about their health (if you’ve seen my stories in the past 24 hours, you know what I’m talking about!) so I took them and all of us for #covid tests.⠀ ⠀ I did the responsible thing.⠀ ⠀ It’s not easy at all waiting in line for almost 2 hours with 3 small kids. I’ve heard other lines were even longer, we got lucky! ⠀ ⠀ It’s also not easy at all getting the kids to actually take the test.⠀ ⠀ I was so proud at how brave they were. Recuerdan que los carnívoros silvestres nos ofrecen servicios ecológicos al controlar las poblaciones de roedores, conejos y liebres.   Aluminé es noticia nuevamente por el rescate de un joven gato montés (Leopardus geoffroyi) que quedó atrapado en trampas metálicas. Una vez más la comunidad demuestra la gran red de personas que piensan la atención y contención de la fauna silvestre. En estos contextos se renueva una pregunta muy recurrente por estos lares ¿Somos capaces como seres humanos de compartir el territorio con otras especies? El animal fue víctima de dos cepos que le produjeron graves heridas al prenderse uno en cada pata trasera. Esto sumado al cuadro de hipotermia generado por las bajas temperaturas y las horas que permaneció inmóvil en la nieve, le generó un estado crítico de salud. El pasado jueves 9 de julio, una vecina del paraje de Abra Ancha avisó al equipo de Guardafaunas que había encontrado un Gato Montés atrapado en dos trampas que ella había ubicado para capturar a un ejemplar de Visón Americano, mamífero exótico que también visita gallineros. Sin embargo el hallazgo fue otro, el felino correspondía a un macho joven muy delgado que debe haberse visto forzado a acercarse a asentamientos humanos para buscar comida. Según comentó la vecina, el mismo Gato Montés ya le había atrapado gallinas antes. Ante el aviso se hizo presente Martín Salazar, de la Dirección Provincial de Fauna, la veterinaria de la Reserva Natural Urbana Quilquelil, Carolina Marull, que cuenta con una vasta experiencia en manejo de fauna silvestre y el Director del Museo municipal El Charrúa, Titi Ricciuto, siempre disponible para estos desafíos Se encontró al Gato Montés con graves heridas en sus dos patas traseras y en estado de hipotermia. Fue sedado y medicado en el mismo gallinero usando instrumental y medicamentos provistos por la veterinaria Gilda Vallejos. Wolfie (fostered in NC)s Story... Say hello to this gorgeous little pup that we rescued in NC on Christmas Eve morning from a high kill shelter - wed like to introduce Wolfie to you. Hes a great little guy, very dog friendly - just had him neutered.....but he is HW positive. The rescue will be treating him for that while he waits for someone to find him and fall head over tail in love with him. He was listed as an owner surrender (we cant figure out WHY...hes a doll!!) and they say hes fine with cats as well as dogs - but we havent been able to test him. If youre looking to adopt - a foster to adopt situation might work out for you. During his HW treatment he will need to be kept inactive with short leashed walks only. The rescue will cover all expenses for his treatment and care. Timone is not a domestic pet and is part of the animal program at a local college. Meet #mightycat Ray. This tiny kitten was rescued from the middle of a busy intersection by a Good Samaritan and brought to our partner organization @tinypawsok in Stillwater, OK. Ray was already blind with juvenile glaucoma (eyes so enlarged he could not blink), emaciated and listless. Ray was cared for by the Tiny Paws team & under the direction of their veterinarian, he was treated with eye drops & oral meds to control pain, infection and ocular pressure. Last week he was taken to Oklahoma State University’s Ophthalmology Specialist, for a double enucleation. The surgery went smoothly and today Ray is recovering and even playing with other kittens! All the volunteers love to hold him and he welcomes all the attention he gets. Meet Leo @leo_the_2nd_chance_lion. Leo is my personal pup. We were looking for a new best friend for Gibson @gibsonthegoober and I came across @cj_littleangels photo of Leo. I knew at that moment he was perfect for us. I could imagine giving him treats in the kitchen and watching those two rumble. Poor Leo had been hung and blowtorched at just 2 months old. Not only did he have to overcome these gruesome burns, he also had parvo. After months of rehabilitation, he was flown to me in Montana. He is the sweetest most loving Pineapple you will ever meet. (Yes, I said pineapple, its a joke as we say he thinks he is a pineapple and not a dog due to his brain damage) everyday I wake up and see him and know he is the reason I make bows to rescue dogs. Agradeço a Deus pela força para ele vencer a doença e nos manter firmes na fé , com esperança e confiança no tratamento. Agradeço a todos os profissionais da saúde que ainda cuidam dele e de tantos outros pacientes nos hospitais do mundo. Aos familiares e amigos pelas mensagens de apoio e orações, foram calmantes da angústia na distância do isolamento. Parabéns pai! My friend @dewoodpatricia found this kitten a few months ago. She called me frantic and needed to bring him to be ASAP. Did she did. He was so sick and honestly I wasn’t sure if he’d make it through the night. He was also very distrusting of hoomans. So I gave him all the love and Medication. He was sick for so long!now look at Christopher today. We learned when taking to get neutered that Christopher is a girl! Hunter was taken to the vet and was diagnosed with severe gingivitis. Thanks to just one very generous donor, Hunter raised $500 and was able to schedule his surgery to extract all of his back teeth. He is set to see Dr. Miller at Macon Veterinary Hospital on July 2nd. We are so happy Hunter can now get this life changing surgery. #wagglesuccess - @waggleforpets on Instagram

- About 2yr ago on a 3 month business trip in Italy I managed to get an extremely scared and shy stray dog to become people friendly. Took me 3 weeks to gain his trust but after many, many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches he was my bud for the next 9 weeks. Sad to leave him behind.

💙 Ethan chegou!! 💙 Ter um menino sempre foi um sonho nosso. Não que o gênero da criança importasse mais que outra coisa, mas queríamos vivenciar o mundo azul. Nossa casa é rosa, as cadeirinhas de casa são rosas, as bonecas vivem espalhadas pela casa e mais que isso, o feminino vem com aquele lado amoroso e acolhedor, é como se já nascecem mãe, não só no cuidado das suas bonequinhas, mas também nos relacionamentos. Vivenciar essa mudança nestes últimos meses foi quase uma ruptura. É como se portas fossem abertas pra uma nova realidade. Engraçado que me peguei falando “princeso” ou invés de “príncipe”. E pior, agora que aprendi que não é “calção” que as meninas usam e sim “shorts”, vou ter que reaprender a usar a palavra “calção”. Também é um momento misto de alegria e responsabilidade. Especialmente pelos desafios que vem com um novo bebê em casa e uma nova vida que está sob nossos cuidados. Mas a sensação de pegar ele no colo e observar seu olhar reconhecendo de onde vem a voz que ele já conhecia é indescritível. Só passando por isso para saber. E sem palavras para descrever esta mulher @nanaspires que Deus me presenteou. Com ela eu teria mais de 100 filhos, viajaria o mundo inteiro, a pé, só eu e ela!! Uma mãe, esposa, amiga e minha companheira dos desafios e das vitórias. Não consigo nem compreender como ela consegue fazer tudo o que faz, mas o fato é que faz! As meninas ansiavam este encontro com o Mano. Já prepararam histórias e dividiram as tarefas para ajudar porque querem participar deste momento. Może ktoś ma po swoim psiaku, może jest taka zabawka którą Wasz pupil się już nie bawi, a może ma za dużo i może podzielić się z naszymi psiakami. Będziemy ogromnie wdzięczni a nasze psiaki przeszczęśliwe. Stare zabawki są już na tyle zużyte, że niewiele z nich zostało ale nadal próbują się nimi bawić. Patrick precisa de ajuda - URGENTE! 🚨 📍São Paulo, SP. Alguém se lembra desse mocinho que já foi publicado algumas vezes para adoção há meses atrás? #PatrickIAPA sempre foi cheio de energia e muito amor para dar, várias pessoas se interessavam por ele, mas, o receio sempre era sua energia! De repente, tudo mudou! Patrick vivia solto em um lar temporário em Cotia, junto com seus amigos peludos, até que, ele apareceu com uma das patas inchadas (aparentemente picada de algum bichinho), foi tratado para melhorar a inflamação, mas, com o passar dos dias, ele começou a perder peso. Foram feitos vários exames, o reviramos de ponta cabeça e estava tudo bem, não encontrávamos nada que justificasse a perda de peso. Sua situação foi piorando e ele teve que ser internado, fazer transfusão de sangue, mudar toda sua alimentação e, MESMO ASSIM, todos seus exames davam negativo. Patrick esta internado há mais de 30 dias, o único fato que mudou em seu quadro foi a confirmação de diabetes. Foi colocado um free style (um dispositivo na pele para regular a dose da insulina), mas, a diabetes não é a “vilã” da história. Aparentemente, é apenas uma “consequência” de alguma outra doença que ainda não conseguimos descobrir. 😔 A maior suspeita do Endócrino é Leish, porém, seu exame deu negativo. Hoje ele foi ao Hematologista e a possibilidade de uma doença autoimune é grande. Vamos iniciar um novo caminho de exames bem específicos e com alto custo. O que nos move em seu caso é a VONTADE DE VIVER que ele tem. A GENEROSIDADE que mesmo nos dias que não consegue parar em pé, demonstra seu amor por nossa equipe. O peludo que tinha muita energia, hoje, tem muita vontade de viver... 🙏 Patrick precisa de você, não temos condições de arcar com todo o custo de seu tratamento que já está altíssimo. 😢 Precisamos que cada um ajude com o que puder, Patrick não é o nosso único caso sério em internação e, a cada dia, está mais desesperador a manutenção destas vidas.
