Event 7 Awful Annie and yes it was awful for me 😝 I definitely had the wrong attitude going into this one. Which looking back now I wish I would have had a better one. I gave up before this workout even started and it showed with my time. I hate saying I did but that’s the honest trust: Anytime I see cleans in the workout, I always just tell me self oh gosh don’t get last place. Which is a horrible mindset to have and then on top of that 150 GHDSU ☠️🤯😳 my mindset was just was not there. All I could think about was “I wish there was a time cap and when is this gong to be over with?!” 😅😅 What it comes down to is that I need to works cleans, obviously didn’t get to at all this year but as the years go by these are holding me back from really being a great athlete so it needs to take a priority. At the beginning of quarantine we got on a call with our good friends @limitlessperformance and @the.1440 and came up with a way to keep our community active and connected. We created “The Social Distancing Fitness Challenge”. We said we would be happy to get 40+ signed up. Within a week of registration we had almost 600 registered for our two week online competition. We gave out prizes for winners of each event as well as random participants. Some of these prizes were generously donated to help support the cause. @rpmtrainingco @beechhillsupplyco @trulocal At the end, we asked participants to donate what they could to our local hospital @grhospitalkw to help with fighting COVID-19. We want to thank you all for your donations as well as your participation in the event that helped us all get through this tough time mentally and physically. One sand grain at a time.  Thats my rate of progress, unlike the amazing people I have trained in the past and currently train.  Comparison is the thief of joy and I know this, but when you progress at my rate, it can be extremely frustrating.  I have high expectations of myself.  I expect to get better and strive for perfection, yes perfection is nonexistent. Sometimes, I think, well, youre 40 years old, and you should be content with where youre at, but thats not good enough for me... high expectations. Ive been CrossFitting for 9 years, Olympic weightlifting for 5, and here I am only snatching #85 and maxing out with only 5 pull ups.  Thats my rate of progress.  2.5 years of BJJ, and I still get submitted, swept and crushed by white belts.  Ive been grinding it out without breaks, through fractured C7, bruised ribs, messed up tendons. I was very disheartened and disappointed with myself.  But Im stubborn. One year ago I competed at my first Olympic weightlifting competition! It has made me grow so much as a person and is something that I never thought I would do. Coach Casey has been one of the most impactful coaches I have ever had. He may have not taught me my first cartwheel or cast handstand but he taught me how to be strong; both inside and outside the gym. I post a lot about workouts but I don’t always post about the nitty and gritty of it. I posted two videos, same exercise, different setups. . A lot of people lift weights, and are taught to think about symmetry. Although yes that’s important, and balance is key. Don’t take that too literal. . . Everyone’s worried about muscle imbalances. So let’s tackle that. Our bodies are meant for performance first of all. . . A lot of people out here that lifts weights are thinking like their a bodybuilder, like your going on stage and everything has to be the exact same. News flash, competition judges, are judging way harder than your gym piers. . . Lemme blow your mind real quick. Have you ever heard of a dominant leg or your left or right handed? By nature we’re offset and have imbalances. . . Stop making excuses why you’re not training to your potential. I have a different setup for the second video because my body isn’t as explosive on one side as the other. . . The clean chronicles continue- that’s a lot of C’s for a Monday morning. This Saturday called for squat cleans with a little bit of volume, I started off with 3 sets of 5 at 35kg. It was fun but as it’s Saturday a quick go at 42.5kg to go for a single was needed. I say quick i spent about 30-40 minutes trying to clean that 42.5kg bar and honestly I think I talked myself out of it before I even attempted it. ‘I haven’t lift this in ages, I could barely even lift this before my back and lockdown, don’t lie to yourself you could do 45 for reps, what if I can’t get it out of the squat’ you know the gist the nervous talk. I tried and failed multiple times, and watching it back I’ve done a high pull and all I needed to do was squat under it but fear and tiredness factored in and Saturday wasn’t the day but next Saturday will be and if not that one the one after that ☺️ First video is my 35kgs Second is a 42.5kg attempt Third me wondering around between attempts because this was 5 minutes 50 out of my 6 minute video 😂 Hope you all have a quality day, keep having fun in the gym, lift heavy, don’t let failed attempts stop you, just go for it again when you feel ready. Today’s workout looked fairly easy on paper...those are typically the WORST and this did NOT disappoint!! 💀 😓 Working on a 3rm max hang clean, hit 165# and failed 175# after one (1RM hang clean is my PR, so hitting that at the end of the workout was a pretty big deal for me) Then a simple 10EMOM. 5 cleans, 5 jerks. Holy smokes!! Did it at 145# and it got interesting to say the least!! But I completed it, mostly emom’d it 😏 Then did some DU and BMU work. It’s so much fun when all the work and patience on technique transfers over to lifts. I know I have a long way to go, but man this feels good to be able to hit some of these lifts/movements! My previous 1 rep max backsquat was 200lbs and it was a struggle.. that was just before Covid started, feb maybe?.. I aimed for 205lbs today (first video) it felt good so I kept going up to a new pr of 220lbs! 🤩 like the squat clean pr I stopped before my form suffered. Pretty pumped! (Auch wenn das etwas uncharmante Spitznamen zufolge hat 🙄) #harrypotter Nach dem ich während des Kampfes gegen eine starke Atenea Flores nach Punkten knapp vorne lag, beendete meine Gegnerin den Kampf in der 4. Runde mit einem Ellenbogen, den ich dankend mit der Stirn in Empfang nahm 🤦‍♀️ Da die Platzwunde zu stark blutete beendete der Ringarzt den Kampf sofort. Natürlich die richtige Entscheidung. Auch wenn ich sehr enttäuscht war da ich gerade angefangen hatte mich richtig wohl zu fühlen und warm zu werden. Ich hatte riesen Spaß an dem Kampf und hatte noch viel vor 😅 Danke an dieser Stelle an Atenea für den starken und fairen Kampf und nochmals herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Sieg. Ich hoffe wir können ganz bald den Ring wieder miteinander teilen. Now that my 2020 season has come to a close it’s time for lots of reflecting on a long, strange year. As a human I loved competing in my home gym with all my friends and family around me. However, as an athlete, I found the online format of competition really challenging. Being able to perform without knowing what a good time for the workouts will be, or having people to pace off / push against is something I need to improve on, especially given the current landscape of CrossFit events around the world. However the weekend provided exactly what I needed, to figure out a plan of attack for the 2021 season. Starting with an idea of where I’m at after a wild year and a long time since last competing and also seeing where everyone else is and I can’t stress just how impressive the scores were across the board 😍 I’m excited for a bit of time off but actually really looking forward to getting stuck back into training. Ofta när jag träffar nya kunder så har dom målet att bli starkare. Men innan dom hade träffat mig har dom aldrig ens försökt att träna för att bli starka på riktigt. Alltså våga ta i, dra ner repsantalet, äta för att prestera, våga vila för att utvecklas. Nä snarare gjorde dom tvärt om. Träna för mycket hiit, tränade för många pass på raken och åt för lite kolhydrater. Min vision i träning är att folk ska våga ta i och känna sig som superwomen/superman eller vad man du vill vara super som! 🤩 Mitt mål är att få dela detta med mera personer. When @kieran_hogan is your coach, you do intervals 🔥 And I bloody love them. There is an old saying in CrossFit that one should be wary of any workout with programmed rest, because it means you essentially have to go harder during the work periods. But for me, I love to go hard, push the higher end of my capacity, take some short rest, then go again, and repeat. Plus, intervals are an excellent way to build work capacity 👌 Workout: 60s on / 60s off, alternating between A and B: A) 3 power cleans @ 60kg + 6 toes to bar. Pregnancy is a trip man. The truth that every pregnancy is different is very much based on the fact that before your first born, it was just you. Second rodeo you’re chasing a small human around who goes REAL hard from the moment he wakes up to the moment he sleeps, all while praying he doesn’t stuff any more matchbox cars down the toilet while your cooking. It’s glorious but it’s also exhausting. I’m soaking up the time and often reeling myself back to the present moment, because once baby girl lands, we’re in for a whole new world #cantfreakingwaittho. Workouts this time around are much different. Very early on, moving the barbell felt like crap. Occasionally I flirt with some light powers or front/back squats but the bulk of my training is body weight or slangin KBs/DBs. I’m very cautious about my abs because I was a knuckle head during my pregnancy with Colt and pushed way too hard too soon postpartum, that I didn’t allow my body time to heal. I’m very confident that being cautious now and after baby girl is born will make rehab and progressing back to CrossFit & weightlifting smoother. Any movement that causes my abs to dome or simply doesn’t feel good I scrap and sub for something else. I have reoccurring dreams about muscle ups and heavy CJs but thankfully I’m patient and wise enough to know that the next chapter of training will be the best yet. The modality is different right now but my determination to learn and grow has remained. This chapter is all about strengthening my mental and spiritual game and frankly, learning to move differently is a blessing. My favorite new addition is weekly virtual yoga with my homegirl and personal coach @anna.alm.bran. While my body is rapidly changing and growing this baby girl, it’s very easy to feel out of whack. Anna has helped me stay centered and in tune with my breath and I can’t even tell you how important and powerful it’s been. Here’s a video of 85k back squats from a week ago. Is it humbling to squat what I was snatching regularly? No. Because getting strong and back in shape is easy and familiar territory. When you want to progress, whether it be your performance in sport/gym, after surgery, or getting out of pain, committing yourself to “doing more” is only a small portion of the battle. What matters more, is that what you are doing is the RIGHT THING for you at the RIGHT TIME. This often means identifying buckets that need to be filled based upon your UNIQUE needs. . I know the exercise you saw on Instagram said it would help relieve your back pain. It’s probably a great exercise for the average person, but you’re not average - you’re you. . If you’re reading this, I’m going to bet that you’re not a stranger to hard work. You probably pride yourself in your ability to put your head down and get done what needs to get done. I think this is an admirable trait, but when it comes to moving in the right direction, WHAT you do, and HOW you do it are always going to outweigh motivation. . TLDR: work smart work hard. Since I have videos of all of my games workouts I thought it would be fun to do a little recap on each workout from the weekend. I do apologize for the video quality, my phone was the backup recording device, so we weren’t too worried about its setup position. Workout 1 (friendly Fran): my worst finish (5:26, 22nd place) and my proudest workout. Why? Because I went out hard and I DIED but I didn’t give up. First video you can see me walking up to the barbell for my final set of thrusters, I vividly remember feeling like my body was starting to shut down and I really didn’t want to pick up the barbell. But I said to myself “you have a choice right now, a choice to fight, or a choice to give up.” So I chose to fight. I still fell apart (like legit blackout status) and was doing singles for majority of the final set of C2B. My body may have failed but my mind DID NOT. We learned a lot from this workout and I’m seriously so proud of my effort. Ps this was only the 2nd time in my crossfit history that I’ve gotten sick from a workout🤢 (other time was open workout rowing and thrusters😆). I Also learned to always run to the finish line after the workout🤦🏼‍♀️. At times, going thru the day to day grind you miss the progress you make. Keeping your head in the mud and training isn’t always easy when day in and day out your lifts and body feels shitty. Sometimes you won’t see the progress until you watch old lifts. It’s never the good days that make you better, it’s the shitty days, day in and day out that we grow the most from. On a Saturday I have a fun session in the gym. It’s a session I get to do all the exercises I wouldn’t typically put into my programming however, fun saturday is very much a big part of my training. It’s not a session I take easy or don’t push the weight up. It’s a session to do other things mainly cleans, DB snatches, Slam ball tosses, KB swings, Ski Erg etc. I don’t worry about the volume of the session compared to the week before, it’s a training day I train to my energy level as it’s the 6th day on the trot and my 3rd leg day (sorta), it’s a day I go in and work hard without worrying if it’s 10kg or 40kg. I love training and if lockdown taught me one thing it was I like training if I’m using bands or using a barbell because it’s your intensity and the mindset you have on a session that makes it fun or not. And yes I use the word fun because even though it hurts it is fun 😂 So here is me having fun, swipe if you want to see me not do a squat clean on my first attempt. My Day 1 Mock @crossfitgames Highlights. I don’t have to do these, but I WANT to and I GET to.. Not for anyone else, but for myself. I want to prove to myself I belong there. I’ve worked very hard this year and this would have been where I showcase all that hard work and complete my 2020 season. I miss the first set of progression in lockdown as mentally wasn’t there so was gunning for it this time round. vou deixar aqui essa imagem de 2014 pra falar de uma parada que eu to louca pra fazer textão. atividade física é uma coisa relativamente nova na minha vida (6 anos). Eu era 100% sedentária e como vcs devem saber eu tenho asma tbm, o que não me incentivava a começar algo tbm. Em 2014 descobri o Crossfit e fiquei obcecada, fui fazer educação física e todo o pacote completo. O que aconteceu ali pra mim foi que eu ganhei capacidade de fazer coisas e pensar em atividades que antes eram impossíveis pra mim (o Crossfit tbm me deu uma esposa mas isso não vem ao caso agora). Viajar e conseguir passear andando era uma coisa horrível, decidir fazer por um dia alguma coisa diferente era impossível. Agora eu consigo ir escalar pra ver como é, jogar beach tênis com meus amigos, fazer yoga, andar de bike com o pai da li, acompanhar minha mãe na musculação que ela finge que não gosta, ir no box que ela treina pra provar pras amigas dela que eu consigo levantar peso, participar de um campeonato de LPO pra ganhar a primeira medalha da minha vida e o que mais surgir. Tem diversas coisas q eu não gosto de fazer, tipo correr, e eu não me obrigo nem um pouco, até onde eu sei eu não sou atleta de nada então me dou esse direito de só fazer o q me deixa feliz e me motiva. Tudo isso pra dizer q após longos anos me formei e to doida pra trabalhar com isso e trazer essa possibilidade pras pessoas e garantir que elas sejam independentes e possam dizer sim pros convites e coisas que aparecem na frente delas sem se preocupar se vão dar conta. beijos, se hidratem e se alonguem - @marianna on Instagram

She makes appearances daily but you can never guarantee what time you see her. Nic has been doing CrossFit for about 6 years now, she started because she wanted to get back into gymnastics 🤸‍♀️ and heard CrossFit had a lot of gymnastics involved plus more! So she figured why not! She loves Kipping Hand stand push ups and is looking forward to stringing more pull ups together in the near future. For snart et år siden havde jeg min VL debut på netop dette plateau, det var til vest senior, idag vendte jeg tilbage for at løfte til Aalborg cup. Selvom målet for dagen var en to-kamp på 250kg, må jeg ærligt indrømme, at jeg er pænt fornøjet med 109/140 og en plads på podiet, som på ingen måder var forventeligt. So a rhino and a giraffe walk into a gym... This past weekend @jcummings512 and I did the @caffeineandkilos Battle Royale. 30 minutes of pure fitness! We managed to pull out a win and earn $1000. Jenn isn’t the biggest fan of burpees or thrusters but she did what needed to be done and was able to keep up with me for the whole workout. Then I hit a big power clean at 357 lbs and she stepped up and hit an equally, if not more, impressive 202 lb power clean. • Some days things don’t go well. Sometimes they do. Saturday was a great day for us.
