Many kids might enjoy the chance to sink their teeth into corn on the cob over scooping it up with a spoon. Add some colorful corn holders for added novelty and a little yellow butter for added fat (and taste). - 2. CREATE SHAPES. Foods that lack form (like rice, casseroles, etc) can be off-putting for some kiddos. So instead, use a cookie scoop or small dish to make shapes and reinforce some boundaries (read: added security) around such foods. - 3. FIND COLORFUL VARIETIES. Color is a universal love language with kids. Does your kiddo have a favorite? Find beautiful ways to also boost nutrition, like with tumeric rice instead of more basic versions. Or purple cauliflower instead of white... etc. - 4. USE A FOOD SKEWER. Kids might not taste it...they might not touch it...but we can usually invite them when they know they can poke it. Be it a kabob or fun food skewer, encouraging kids to use a food tool can help that food make its way around their plate and maybe even into their mouths! - 5. PATTERNS. Feeding can feel all or nothing. But that mentality adds pressure and force, not playfulness and fun. So consider how you can include both preferred and non-preferred foods. Your child might help you do a pattern of yellow peppers, yellow onion, and yellow pineapple on chicken kabobs.
