A few weeks ago, the cops showed up at my house. I came into the house after Scott dropped me off to run to the store. My hands were full of groceries and stuff from the car. I went through the basement so I could set my stuff down and the alarm system went off. I set the stuff down, locked the door, slipped my shoes off and ran upstairs to turn it off. But it didnt work. I tried to deactivate it from my kindle and the alexa and the computer Didnt work Scott had already pulled away and his phone (the main key) was dead...so no luck there The security company called my phone because its the backup number. I said yes I was in the house and needed them to turn it off. They asked me the code….which code? They said its a word. I started throwing out passwords and names and dates and inside jokes. No luck. We had only had the system set up for like 10 days at this point and since we rarely leave the house, I didnt know the freaking EMERGENCY PASSWORD. The alarm kept going off and I sat there in my home wondering if the police would show up and kill me for b&e in my own bed. Luckily Scott came home in time to meet the cops outside. I had to slow my breathing and wipe my tears and immediately go on zoom to teach my night class. I wouldnt have been so scared if I didnt know you could be killed for less.
