Up, up & away! The Saturn 1B streaks across the sky at 35,000 feet after liftoff of Apollo 7, Oct 1968. The 10-day, 20 hour mission was flown by Walter Cunningham, Don Eisele & Wally Schirra. The mission was the only crewed flight from Launch Complex 34 & would be the last spaceflight to lift off from that spot also. Backup crew for the mission was John Young, Gene Cernan & Tom Stafford; this trio would later go on to fly Apollo 10 in March 1969. #saturn1b #apollo7 #nasa #1968 #aerospace #rocketry #spaceflight #nasasocial #astronauts #spacetravel #1960s #nasa🚀 #spaceexploration #saturnvrocket #vintagespace #astronaut #apolloprogram #spaceprogram #projectapollo #spaceexplorer #saturnrocket #spacerace #spaceage - @astronotmovie on Instagram

Fly-through of the International Space Station courtesy of @nasa. Although I did not film this 😶, I am sharing as I find it beautiful, terrifying and ultimately a strong perspective in this turbulent time we label 2020. The ISS is a powerful symbol. It is a place where different nations of the planet earth come together to explore the space beyond. As with everything, I’m sure there is controversy and deep politics here but in theory, this is such an incredible practice and a symbol of peace. Apollo IE The Orange Dragon #1/10 The wait is over and another long awaited IE has made its first public appearance. Im talking about the newest addition to @barrylskolnick collection, aka The Orange Dragon. This IE contains lots of unique features and details. Lets start with the colour, the livery is related to the owners street legal MC 12 Corsa (pic 9). Its finished in metallic orange with white stripes along side black and orange carbon details. The interior contains a combination of black alcantara with orange leather details and black instruments. Please note: In a few pictures, the shown rims are the delivery rims. The black ones with orange stripes and black wheel caps are the normal rims. The calipers are orange too. I really hope that this IE will be driven well and save. Once again, massive congratulations to the owner of this very unique masterpiece! On this day in 1985: 35 years ago on the 21st September 1985 a monster was lifted from the depths of Loch Ness. That monster was a Wellington Bomber, which ditched into Loch Ness during a training flight on 31st December 1940. It lay hidden at the bottom of the Loch until an American team of Nessie hunters came across it during a survey in 1976. To save the aircraft a salvage operation was launched, led by Loch Ness Wellington Association Ltd. Thanks to public donations and funding from National Heritage Memorial Fund the WW2 bomber was successfully raised out of the Loch and transported home to Brooklands, the place it was built, for restoration. The Loch Ness Wellington, ‘R for Robert’, now takes centre stage in the Brooklands Aircraft Factory exhibition and you can come and see it and discover more about its incredible story every day the Museum is open.
