Mai 2018 in Merced, Kalifornien, nach einem langen Kampf mit Hautkrebs, der Metastasen gebildet hatte. Scott war ein amerikanischer Bodybuilder, der in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren Mr. America- und Mr. International-Titel gewann. In den 1990er Jahren und im Jahr 2000 nahm er am IFBB Masters Mr. Olympia-Wettbewerb teil. Wilson wurde in San Diego, Kalifornien,als Sohn von Mitchell und Gwen Wilson geboren. Er wuchs in Lakeside, Kalifornien, auf, wo er als Kind mit Krafttraining begann und in der Highschool Fussball spielte. Nach seinem Abschluss meldete er sich beim United States Marine Corps an. 1973 nahm er mit einer Wette am Mr. San Diego-Wettbewerb teil und gewann diesen. Im folgenden Jahr, 1974, gewann er den AAU Mr. California-Wettbewerb. Damit war Wilson auf dem Weg zu einer Karriere im professionellen Bodybuilding. Nachdem er 1974 Mr. California gewonnen hatte, wurde Wilson Profi. 1976 gewann er den WBBG Pro Mr. America-Wettbewerb, 1981 den IFBB Mr. International-Wettbewerb und 1983 den IFBB Portland Grand Prix. In den späteren Jahren seiner Karriere nahm er dreimal am IFBB Masters Mr. Olympia-Wettbewerb teil. Sein letzter Wettbewerb war im Jahr 2000, und 2001 trat er formell in den Ruhestand. Wilson nahm eine Zeit lang auch als Powerlifter teil: Bankdrücken 263 kg (580 lb), Kniebeugen 340 kg (750 lb) und Kreuzheben 333 kg (735 lb). Let’s go. Astronaut Tom Stafford surveys things during water egress training for Gemini 6, Aug 1965. Mr. Stafford flew the near 26-hour mission with Project Mercury veteran Wally Schirra. He later flew on Gemini 9A in ‘66 with Eugene Cernan. The pair would fly again on Apollo 10 (also with John Young). Stafford commanded the historic mission, which was the first to fly a Lunar Module & the 2nd to orbit the moon. A10 came within 9 miles of the lunar surface. In 1975, he commanded the Apollo Soyuz Test Project. Astronaut Stafford logged an amazing 507 hours in space during his career. I joined the military as a young man, strong and keen, and wanting to rescue people in need. I had studied battles and wars as a history undergraduate; I had listened in awe to the stories of men, relatives even, who had fought in the dank jungles of New Guinea and Vietnam. As a kid, I decided my mission in life would be to join the Australian SAS. I eventually passed Selection to join the revered unit. Over six years, I fought alongside my mates in Australia’s longest war – the 12-year Afghanistan Campaign. I was professionally trained in warfighting by then, so I believed I knew enough to survive – how wrong I was. The cost was higher than I anticipated. I spent years afterwards rebuilding my life and searching for new purpose. My journey took me from the USA to the jungles of Samoa to, finally, home. A memoir, written in my own words, will be published by @macmillanaus in 2021.
