So, with masks and with the idea of respecting everyone in the group, let’s try this out with a limited number of people first. We ask you RSVP via PM. This isn’t to be exclusive. Just for safety. And we’ll make sure we notify those that make this first meetup this evening. Location will be in #hermosabeach this Saturday at 11:30am (this is in 1 day, folks!) — will involve a #coffee meetup spot, a walk, and another spot to finish at. Beer not necessarily guaranteed at this one, but we’re trying to figure that out (tough with a large group, but there’s a spot, and we’ll try to get in). We’ll have about 15 people on this walk. “WHOOOP it’s Bake Off tonight”, I just said to my two youngest... “why does it matter when it’s on, you can just watch it whenever...” 😳😳 The concept of a programme being on at a certain time and watching it “live on tv” is unfathomable to them. I woke up this morning after 30 hours of no sleep with a heavy heart. While I was making my oatmeal like an old man, I turned on the news. After doing so, I noticed these reporters are solely speaking about, while sounding very, very dramatic, the looting which of course took place. Fear mongering. I do not want to showcase that at this very fragile moment. Though I was there photographing it all, I will share those someday because I do feel like the photographs are important, just not right now. Power in numbers my friends, I hope these images inspire you to get out here with us and march for our black and brown communities as well as an all around systemic change to our nation. Images like the first, where NYPD took a knee in solidarity with protestors which happened all throughout yesterday and Gwen Carr, as seen in the fifth image spoke with profound passion are important in these times. I wanted to end my life. Several times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Around the time I was 15 or 16, I remember standing in my room, more than likely finished having an argument with my mother or grandparents, and I just was done. I was tired of being bullied at school, tired of being unheard of at home, and just really wanted to give up. I wrapped these dice that were on a threaded string around my neck----so tightly. When I couldnt breathe, I chickened out and tried to hurry and get the chord off. That night, I just laid in my bed in silence and wondered. I have never shared that moment publicly until now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The second time was when I first moved to Nashville. I felt like I hit rock bottom and everyday on the road, I fantasized about driving into the opposite oncoming traffic...this is real.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The problem with my story and other stories like mine, especially in Black communities, is that there arent many safe spaces that exist for us to openly discuss these feelings without being condemned and shamed. With this, the likelihood of suicide is higher, especially if that person is suffering from an undiagnosed or ill-treated mental illness like schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thats why its important for us to truly form communities that allow us to truly heal by being open and honest with our internal struggles, and work with one another to build each other up and encourage each other. #nationalsuicidepreventionday isnt just for one day, but its something to be constantly aware of. Check in with yourself and do a self-assessment. Check in with your friends and have deep and real conversations (if they can be trusted of course). Especially during what were facing now, its more important than ever to be vigilant about your wellbeing and getting real with yourself. Recognizing others pain as well to prevent them ending their lives prematurely and getting them the therapy they need. - @odetoselfskincare on Instagram

I would have an endless loop of mind fucking questions that had me constantly speaking approval. “If I say that, how will it be received? Will it be reciprocated? Will they like me? Will they want to move forward?” 😫 - Oddly enough, the same mind fucking questions my younger self would ask after a sales call.😔 - Questions like this kept me stuck in old patterns unable to create the dating or finacial life I desired. 🤦♀️ - Now instead of focusing on outward questions, I focus more on inward truths.🙌 - When we focus questions inward, transformation happens and we create the life we desire.🕺 - In the last six months I’ve created thefionanial and relationship success of my dreams by following these few principles instead. - 1. Stop thinking about what others think and be transparent with my truth.🔥 - So many sales AND dating relationships are built on lies and half-truths. In order to create a deep connection and a respectful, fruitful relationship, do your best to be transparent and communicate your truth as often as possible. - 2. Remember abundance: If you’re afraid of something not working out, remember that “If it’s not this, it’s something better.” 🙌 - When I left a bad marriage, I decided that my situation could only improve from there, and indeed- every single person I’ve dated since has been an incredible person and made a deep contribution to my life. - The same is in sales- If you’re worried about rejection, start training yourself to notice how many people you could potentially help in this world. - Getting excited about that will enable you to carry high intention, low attachment with the people you sell too. Settle in petals, I’ve got a tale to tell… * Back in November 2019, I caught up for a beer with the owner of a pub I’d worked at briefly. I took a job at his pub in 2017 whilst assisting in photography, which was a much needed break from styling. I had only poured a few dozen beers before he joked about the lack of hospitality experience on my CV and offered me styling work instead. * Over that beer, he told me that he was taking over a run down venue in Enmore and wanted an all female team behind it. He offered me the opportunity to conceptualise the re-design of the venue as a 1970’s Aussie Revival Pub, taking it back to it’s origins as The Enmore Hotel 1879. Naturally I jumped at the opportunity, but knew I couldn’t do it alone. So I hit up my old mate @killingmattwoods and asked (begged) him to collaborate with me. True to his style, he said “yeah, ok”. * I then met the formidable female who was to be the Publican. A woman as brash as she is cute, a true humanist with the patience of a saint. * The Pub owner and Publican provided us with one key image as the reference for their new venue, an iconic photograph by Rennie Ellis (second image). We revelled in being given a reference that was more about the ambiance of the space as opposed to the interior finishes. * As the Pub owner had backed my transition from styling to photography from the very beginning, he then asked me to recreate this image BUT featuring females only and shot in the pub once the build was complete. * So, that is the tale behind what you see here… * Thank you to all the girls who came along to the shoot, especially those who drove 18 hours just to be there. Thank you to those who sourced stubby shorts and picked ciggie butts out of the gutter. Thank you @xbabysnakesx (Publican) for walking Bozzy (feature doggo) through the mud on the morning of the shoot just so he’d behave for us. * Above all, thank you @ged.dore, the man behind it who commands no attention and requests zero kudos whatsoever. Road Trip I have always been drawn to the John Ford scenery of Northern Arizona and Utah, the highlight of which has to be Monument Valley. I am clearly not alone in considering the view south from turnoff 13 on the way to Mexican Hat to be one of the most visually intoxicating sights in the US. It was, of course, used in Forrest Gump and then provided the front cover to Ridley Scott’s Thelma and Louise. The US has taken ownership of the term “road trip” as explained succinctly by this stretch of tarmac. Its truly an iconic and timeless vista that shouts “The Wild West”. Gladiator is probably Ridley Scotts finest movie and I have watched it over and over again. Meanwhile, Thelma and Louise is rightly one of the most lauded road trip movies of all time. About a month ago, I picked up the DVD box and had a moment of inspiration. Their use of the convertible car and the head on angle offered a totally different perspective on Monument Valley. Taking my pre-conception through to reality that Wednesday morning was no small task. I want to thank Brawler Productions in LA for collaborating with me and helping secure exclusive use of the road at the key time, around 7.40 am. Its a busy road and the Utah State Police were fantastic. Josie Canseco played her role brilliantly - it was not easy to look that glamorous and in charge with a wolf sitting in Thelma’s seat. It is no surprise that Victoria’s Secret has booked her for its latest show in NYC. We arrived on site two days before the shoot as we wanted to be in control of everything within our control. I can’t remember ever pondering more over camera settings and lenses. I knew I would have a generous amount of light to play with at 7.40 and we had to use it well. The big variable was the wolf’s behaviour - the light gets too harsh from about 8am and therefore there was only a small window to get the job wrapped. It was tight, but we did it. All in all, it was a great team effort in a fairly remote part of the American West. It is a very special image and I think we nailed it. Todos os vídeos de bate-papo costumam ter roteiro, senão acabo falando demais e fugindo do assunto. 😅O roteiro me ajuda a ter foco, coerência e garantir que a mensagem vai ser clara. Dependendo do tópico, a pauta pode ser mais detalhada ou conter só os pontos chaves. 3. Os vlogs (que são vídeos mais soltos mostrando o dia-a-dia) são totalmente espontâneos e não têm roteiro. No entanto, na hora de editar, tomo bastante cuidado pra história ter um início, meio e fim. Aliás, acho isso muito importante pra qualquer vídeo, inclusive de viagens. 4. Todos os vlogs que faço são gravados somente com o celular. 5. Pros vídeos de bate-papo uso uma Canon 70D e uma lente Sigma 18-35mm. Como o auto-foco dela faz um barulhinho, sempre gravo o audio no celular mesmo e depois sincronizo tudo na edição. 6. Eu edito com o Premiere Pro da Adobe, que é um programa pago e não tão intuitivo, mas que te permite fazer muita coisa legal. Pra quem tá começando, sugiro usar programas mais básicos como iMovie ou Movie Maker pra você ir pegando o jeito antes de passar pra um mais complexo. 7. Eu assino o Epidemic Sound, que me libera os direitos autorais das músicas. Se você usa músicas no YouTube pras quais não tem o direito, seu vídeo corre o risco de ser desmonetizado, bloqueado em vários países ou ser tirado do ar. O próprio YouTube tem uma biblioteca de uso público, basta buscar por Biblioteca de Audio Youtube. 8. Chego a passar horas tentando achar “A” música ideal pra cada momento dos vlogs. Acho essencial pra envolver as pessoas e fazer com que sintam o que senti vivendo aquilo. 9. Dependendo do assunto, posso passar até 2 dias no roteiro e até 3 dias editando. Os vídeos mais fáceis de gravar são vlogs, mas são os mais difíceis de editar, porque gosto que a história tenha coerência. 10. Após subir o vídeo no YouTube ainda gasto entre 1 e 2h fazendo a capa, escolhendo o título, adicionando, links, tags, cards, tela final e depois, divulgando. Por fim, vídeo pronto! Bora descansar?
