Há 1 ano o meu Guga partiu. Eu nem sonhava no quão meu amigo este cão se tornaria, até porque foi o meu primeiro, mas foi a melhor surpresa e alegria dos meus dias. Consegui entalar-lhe o rabo numa porta logo no dia em que o trouxemos para casa e ele ainda assim escolheu tornar-se meu protetor de todas as ocasiões. Por outro lado virava Cinderela quando ía até ao veterinário: rabo entre as pernas, muito medo, muitos tremores pelo corpo. Numa dessas suas últimas visitas ao veterinário teve de lá ficar em observação cerca de 1 hora depois de serem realizados alguns exames. Torci o nariz. Expliquei que o meu Guga ficava extremamente ansioso naquele local e deixá-lo sem mim era arriscado. Disseram-me para não me preocupar que ficaria em boas mãos. Despreocupada não fiquei, mas mais não podia fazer e ausentei-me pelo tempo que pediram. Ainda nem 1 hora tinha passado, quando me ligam a pedir que lá fosse, porque o meu amor estava numa jaula aberta tamanho XXL num canto assustado, recusava-se a ir ter com as auxiliares e rosnava-lhes quando se tentavam aproximar. Ri-me, quase que previa aquilo. Fui a voar até ao meu patudo e assim que me viu voou até ao meu colo. Lambeu-me a cara, as mãos e não descolou mais de mim como se implorasse que não o voltasse a deixar sozinho. Meu Guga... as saudades que tenho dele! Foram 8 anos de aprendizagens, dele e nossas. Muitas coisas roídas, muitos pássaros e ratos assassinados pela boca do mesmo. Nos últimos tempos já muita dor e algum sofrimento que por mais que quiséssemos, não lha conseguíamos tirar. So why did North Carolina not ratify the 19th Amendment in 1920? 🤔❓🤔 Though many leaders in North Carolina supported womens suffrage (Governor Thomas Bickett didnt personally support it, but saw it as inevitable and wanted NC to join the cause gracefully), there was also a strong anti-suffrage sentiment in the state. Many of the states leaders thought that granting women the right to vote would mean trouble for the states powerful textile industries. They thought that women would be more interested in labor rights, as well as the rights of children. • • State leaders also believed that granting women the right to vote would inevitably enfranchise African Americans. Jim Crow laws passed at the turn of the twentieth century were specifically designed to bar African Americans from voting and holding public office. This anti-suffrage document is blatantly white supremacist and expresses Lost Cause ideaology (notably evoking Reconstruction horrors, a common talking point of Lost Cause sentiment). The document tells men of the south to BEWARE, because womens suffrage will lead to the enfranchisement of African Americans. Of course, that was not directly the case. The 19th Amendment only guaranteed white women the right to vote. “Ever since my treatment, my plan was to be a pediatric oncology nurse – and that’s exactly what I went on to do. I admired the nurses who cared for me and knew that I wanted to do the same when I grew up. I’ve been on 10South for eight years and my heart is definitely with the kids.” Growing up, Shari was an avid gymnast. She started complaining of pain in her hip and it quickly progressed to the point where she was unable to sleep at night. After imaging, she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma when she was 10 years old. She underwent 14 cycles of chemo, six weeks of radiation and a bone marrow transplant at @UMNChildrens.
