A few months back we asked you die hard crappie anglers for some direction on a new bait. After a few months of testing, this is what we came up with! The new Ghost Minnow Thump Chubby is now on the website. Each bait will last you a conservative 20-30 fish, they are UV enhanced, scented with garlic/shad oils and are made in America. - @constant.pursuit.outfitters on Instagram

Giant African Millipede* - - Scientific Name: Archispirostreptus gigas . Taxonomy: Animalia -- Arthropoda -- Myriapoda -- Diplopoda -- Spirostreptida -- Spirostreptidae -- Archispirostreptus -- gigas . Status: unknown in wild . Features: This species is the largest living millipede that can grow to be 15.2 (38.5 cm) in length. They have a thick black body with red or sometimes black legs. Some individuals have dark red segments. . Distribution: They are native to lowland parts of East Africa, from Mozambique to Kenya. It is also found in Southern Arabia. However, they often can be found elsewhere in captivity because of their popularity within the hobby . In captivity: this species needs more space than its smaller counterparts, but they require the same needs. Keep in organic substrate with rotting material. It is also recommended to provide fruits and vegetables sometimes sprinkled with calcium for a healthy millipede. They prefer warm, humid conditions. This species requires permits to import in all U.S. states. Check your state laws/US Fish and Wildlife Service for specific requirements. . . Footnotes: *Fun fact, in Africa, they refer to millipedes as Shongololos! . 🐛Personal Notes🐛 I know it seems like Im skipping around but Im actually going through the Spirostreptidae family. Id love to go through every species of a genus, but honestly a lot of them are unverified and are only listed, not confirmed. Therefore, Ill be focusing on getting through recognized species in their respective families before making lists of potential species. Perhaps if I get to the end of verified species Ill do more pages on care and common questions. . . Have any species you want me to cover or have questions on? DM me! . . ~~Tags~~ #agigas #archispirostreptusgigas #giantafricanmillipede #AGB #gianttrainmillipede #millipede #millipedes #myriapod #diplopoda #fieldguide #millipedemanual . -Photo References: YouTube (user bugboyandy), https://sites.google.com/site/africanmillipede/ , Loreto Science, UNL entomology -Information References: wikipedia - @the.millipede.manual on Instagram

Texas Gold Millipede - - Scientific Name: Orthoporus ornatus . Taxonomy: Animalia -- Arthropoda -- Myriapoda -- Diplopoda -- Spirostreptida -- Spirostreptidae -- Orthoporus -- ornatus . Status: least concerned . Features: This species has a gold colored body (hence the name) with dark brown segment lines. Typically has a dark brown head. Has been recorded up to 6 (15.24 cm) but on average is about 4 (10.16 cm) . Distribution: Can be found in the wild in U.S. states of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas as well as the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. . In captivity: This species prefers more arid conditions than that of previous Florida species. In the wild, they prefer more sunshine than many species. Note, desert does not equal 100% sand. Still keep them in a substrate of mostly organic soil. Also to note, dont be worried if your millipedes disappear for the winter months; its completely normal and they should reappear in the spring! . . Footnotes: N/A . 🐛Personal Notes🐛 Sorry for skipping around with species! The reason Im covering the Golds now is because I just got several of my own! They are absolutely wonderful and my biggest species to date. They do spray their toxins much more often than my other species, but of course it isnt dangerous. In my tank, I experimented mixing my usual substrate with childrens play sand (so its non-toxic) to try and aerate the soil better. So far all is going well and they seem to enjoy digging into the sand. Also, as the holidays are here Ill probably be posting less for the next couple of weeks. At the most I might post every other week instead of every week, but it shouldnt be any longer than that. Thanks for reading! . . Have any species you want me to cover or have questions on? Texas Brown Millipede - - Scientific Name: Orthoporus texicolens . Taxonomy: Animalia -- Arthropoda -- Myriapoda -- Diplopoda -- Spirostreptida -- Spirostreptidae -- Orthoporus -- texicolens . Status: unknown . Features: This species is typically darker than O. ornatus with a dark brown/red body and red line segments. However, some places show them as being a light sand color*. Adults average at 6 (15.24 cm). . Distribution: Can be found in the states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. Probably possible to find them in surrounding states in desert environments. . In captivity: This species prefers more arid conditions as a desert species. Keep in a less humid environment. Note, desert does not equal 100% sand. Still keep them in a substrate of mostly organic soil. I mix sand in with my other desert millipedes so its about 90% dirt and 10% sand. . . Footnotes: *I have a feeling the sandy colored texicolens belong to a different group, or it could be vice versa and the darker ones are separate. If anyone can clear that up, let me know! . 🐛Personal Notes🐛 Hey yall! Its been quite a while but Im back from holiday so its back to more millipede reports. Im having trouble finding research papers on lesser known species so if anyone has documents Id love to see them! Most old research reports are either outdated or they have been deleted. . . Here they are!! So today the last 2 came out their eggs Nothing is as cute as little snakes, trust me So little inventory check: 3 wild colour 3 red with yellow and white 1 red with white possibly without yellow 1 handicapped wild colour 1 handicapped red with yellow and white I separated the handicapped little sneks from the strong ones because I dont want them to get hurt in any way by the others, also I want to see if they will be able to pass their food So what did we learn by incubating these eggs? -Some eggs might go bad: 3 of them -Since 4 out of 7 are red, the dad must have a red parent or genome. Otherwise there would have been 4 wild colour and 3 reds. Although, we dont know what the 3 eggs would have been so there is a possibility that those could be wild or red coloured -The genome of a grandparent can possibly come back in the grandkid. We knew the mom has a parent that is red with white. -Some eggs take longer to hatch, even if they stuck out their noses, the longest took 4 days!! -Do NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT move if you are incubating eggs!! I believe this might have caused 2 eggs to die and 2 others to be handicapped.. -Even if someone is handicapped, they deserve all the love their short lives can give them Ofcourse Im going to keep my little handicaps with me to see what will come of them. They are the cutest little babies of the bunch.
