This genus of the Salticidae is widespread in Germany, but it is easily overlooked. This spider here was about 1.5mm tall and you only notice its true beauty when you look closely: If sunlight hits the abdomen of this spider, it glows metallic/copper. Not all members of the genus assemble large aboveground nests, but those that do are fantastic builders. A colony of these tiny invertebrates can produce a dome-shaped nest that can reach nearly 10 feet in diameter and 4.5 feet in height. ABUNDANCE AND GRATITUDE I look around outside and the offerings are so abundant! We have so much gratitude for all our sweet mother earth is offering us this time of year and also for our students ~ their dedication to the plants and Rosemarys course. This time of year can feel a bit like springtime to me, the hustle and bustle to get the garden preserved and our winter medicine chests full.
