Feeling kinda fabulous with this photo of me by @jackiedivesphoto in an excellent article by @lexxgill about covid-19 and the unexpected opportunities that have developed, especially for BIPoC folx, who have historically had a harder time finding access in the food industry. I am so grateful to both of these women for their time, energy, and passion to shine a spotlight on these businesses. Its been especially cool to see all the ways that the diversity of cultures in Vancouver collide and are celebrated right now, as I hope they will continue to be, permanently. I had the privilege of participating in the @bipocfoodcouver pop-up last week, and the response was wonderfully uplifting. It can be such a struggle to find a foothold in food, to make it profitable, and to feel like youll find your way. The most beautiful thing about working in a commissary kitchen like @cohocommissary is the community and collaboration that arises. One of my favourite sayings is, a rising tide floats all ships. REGINA UPDATE: 🚨 Regina (nka Truffles) is still hospitalized! We have stalled on the update because to be honest it changes every couple of hours- there were times it seemed we would lose her completely and times of slight improvement, then set backs, and at this point we have some clinical improvements and some aspects that are still worrisome. We need our prayer warriors in full force! Right now she may be in need of another transfusion as the night progresses, but we are hoping and praying she gets back to her incline. She has tested negative for Parvo several times- to be honest we have NOT ruled out that over deworming is a possibility and completely depleted her entire system, nor can it be proven that is the case either; at the end of the day, we must focus on the positives, one being that her pulse ox is much better and her WBC are beginning to regenerate, but the clinical results show she needs to remain in critical care.
