**Artemisia Herba Alba aka Shih aka Desert Wormwood Today, we are excited to begin to commune with plants that are native to the MotherLand. Up until now, with the exception of our post on Rooibos Tea, the plants discussed have been native to other regions. **Artemisia Herba Alba, or desert wormwood, grows wherever rocky areas of the Sahara Desert are found across the 10 countries* it spans. To thrive in such an environment, this plant has developed many excellent properties, some of which activate healing in the human body. y nos vamos al Parque Nacional Sierras de las Quijadas en la prov. de San Luis. Una de sus rutas de acceso al parque es🛣 RN N°147. Se encuentra al noroeste de la provincia y presenta a simple vista un paisaje desértico🏜. 📍Toponimia: Su nombre se debe a la cantidad de quijadas de vacunos encontradas por antiguos pobladores del lugar. 📚Historia: En esta región se ubicaban la comunidad Huarpe. Numerosos hornillos vestigios de los originarios se pueden ver en el parque (pozos cavados para cocinar la comida). También tienen protagonismo 🤠los gauchos de las quijadas que eran bandidos rurales que ante tal terreno podían esconderse luego de haber asaltado alguna carreta en los caminos cercanos por ellos se daba recompensa💰para encontrarlos. 🌏Geo: Hace millones de años existió en este lugar una laguna🏞. Se dio la posibilidad de saber esto por los fósiles de restos de plantas y animales encontrados en el lugar que tiene su gran interés paleontológico👨🔬 ya que podemos ver en el parque tras una larga caminata la huella de pisada de un dinosaurio🐾 que quedó plasmada. Es una zona semiárida con una vegetación de matorrales y bosques adaptados a la sequedad. Hay acantilados farallones y miradores naturales. La erosión 🌬ha tallado relieves en rocas y depresiones. Esta formada por areniscas de color rojo y los faldeos de las sierras descienden en forma de barrancas abruptas de 200 a 300 mtrs. de altura. Fauna: Puma, tortugas, cardenales, halcones, comesebo boquense, guanacos, gato montes, vizcachas, zorros. Flora: este ambiente de poca humedad exige a las plantas poseer hojas pequeñas o transformadas en espinas. Chica, cactus,chaguar, rétamo.🌵🌱🌾 Este lugar es especial realmente pareciera que la dimensión de tiempo se frenara allí e invada el silencio cuando te quedas contemplando, une interes cultural y paleontológico uniendo pasado con presente es como hacer un viaje en el tiempo. Arizona Road Trip: Jerome Jerome was founded in 1876 and was once the 4th largest town in Arizona Territory. The population peaked at 15,000 but is now a mere 450. Most of the honest and liberating work I do is in the unlearning. Seeing the sneaky ways I try to believe I’m too much and not enough or that I’m undeserving of what I have or underserved of what I need. ⠀ It takes continuous work to unlearn things you didn’t know you were taught. Sometimes it feels like a fight to accept it all. ⠀ You know when I started loving my self? When I decided to. And you know what happened? I truly started loving myself. And then I felt free enough to love everything else in my life more. I started standing up for myself and my health and my wholeness, naturally. I look around now and feel love and acceptance from everyone who has a seat at my table. ⠀ We live in a reality where taking care of ourselves and each other is radical. Rest is revolutionary. Believing we have and are enough is rebellious. ⠀ like all of the systems that are falling right now, here is another that must. Just as the others, we continue to learn that the structures that teach us how to be are working exactly as designed. Until we choose to stop buying in. ⠀ What if we didn’t support the systems that tell us we are wrong, can’t trust ourselves, have to worry, be alone, or get sick. Let the walls fall: you aren’t how much or how little or not enough or too much. What you’re going through isn’t tmi for those wanting to know more. You are not cemented to any experience of reality forever, whether good, bad, pretty, ugly or otherwise. Everything is changing, always, all the time. Fight against the current of status quo. Question everything. ⠀ I hope you have and I hope you do. Then we can talk about how grateful we were to have done it. It’s worth it. You’re worth it. Greetings from Benton Hot Springs! We want to reaffirm our dedication to providing a safe and clean place for you and our staff during this current situation with the coronavirus. It has been and still is our top priority. While our remote facilities, generally provide ample space and limited public interaction, we our stepping up our cleaning efforts in the midst of this situation. Currently there is little evidence that indicates the coronavirus can survive in outside elements. Nevertheless, we continue to clean each tub after every use with a strong bleach solution. We will disinfect all portable toilets daily. We have just completed deep cleaning in all the rooms, houses and common areas. Additionally we are disinfecting all surfaces and linens after each use and common areas continually. We hope these further cleaning processes with ease concerns. This situation is fluid and we will reassess our procedures and operations as conditions warrant. We understand everyone is in a different place when it comes to this situation. However, we would like to reiterate that the director of the CDC stated that the risk is low and encouraged people to go about their life with a common sense approach. Founded in 1881, Calico grew quickly after the discovery of various deposits of silver, borax and gold. Over the years, it has come to have up to 1200 citizens, 500 mines and 22 saloons. The town was soon abandoned and left to gradually decay, to became a ghost town in 1907. . ANTIGUA ALDEA DE TULOR La aldea de Tulor, ubicada por San Pedro de Atacama🏜️, evidencia lo que ya hemos mencionamos para otras aldeas ya publicadas (las subiré a las historias igual😁): como las sociedades luego de miles y miles de años habitando un espacio se van adueñado de éste, conociendo sus recursos naturales a tal punto de modificarlos geneticamente : un proceso histórico que conllevará a la domesticación de animales🦙 y planta🌱. Es así que de la mano con la intensificación de la agricultura y pastoreo fuimos teniendo formas de vida más sedentarias que guardan relación con las primeras aldeas y con el excedentes de diversos recursos para su almacenamiento🌽🌶️🥜🥒🥔. Estos excedentes fueron claves en la aparición de las primeras jerarquías sociales y también en las dinámicas de intercambio que se fueron creando con otras poblaciones, algunas muy alejadas. Desde la arqueología sabemos por ej que en las Aldeas de San Pedro llegaron productos desde muy lejos, de la costa 🐟 y de la actual Bolivia y Argentina. Esto respondiendo a una de las bases de la cosmovisión Andina, vigente hasta hoy en dia: la reciprocidad, donde el intercambio de cosas (comida, cerámica, metales, tejidos y diversos adornos) desde distintos pisos ecológicos forma parte de esa lógica y ha sido fundamental para la subsistencia de las comunidades Andinas. Un rol clave para concretar estos intercambios fue gracias a las caravanas de llamas 🦙que cargaban los distintos productos dentro de estas dinámicas de tráfico de cosas para intercambiar 🌽🥒🌶️🥜🥔⚱️. San Pedro, al ser un oasis en el desierto 🏜️ fue un lugar estratégico de convergencia de muchas rutas caravaneras. La Aldea de Tulor, construida en barro y con un patrón de recintos circulares (otra lógica de vivienda respecto a hoy en día), fue creada y utilizada desde hace 2500 años atras y hasta hace unos 1500 de antigüedad. En la actualidad está cubierta por dunas. Una de las máximas expresiones de forma de vida sedentaria son las ciudades🌇, y pensar que todo partió con la aparición de las primeras aldeas cómo Tulor y otras hace más de 2000 años atrás. This Saturday is the last day to see INSIGHT at Mood Room from noon-4pm — !!! Eye Lounge collective presents INSIGHT, an exhibition highlighting the collective’s current eleven artists and their individual approaches to ways of seeing. Utilizing photography, painting, installation, fibers, ceramics and multimedia, the artists explore the concept of sight and reflections through time. Originally scheduled for March / April 2020, the physical exhibition was canceled due to COVID-19 and instead appeared on the collective’s website. In the past four months many of the artists have expanded upon the work presented in the online exhibition and created new work. INSIGHT at ARTLINK‘s Mood Room Gallery is both a physical manifestation and an evolution of the original exhibition. INSIGHT features the work of Susan Allred, Kat Davis, Gina DeGideo, Mikey Foster Estes, Lena Klett, Charles Kurre, Amy Sansbury Manning, Kristen Miologos, Tess Mosko Scherer, Cyd Peroni, and Christy Wittmer.
