Happy International Womxn‘s Day! Today I led part of the IWD Run in Berlin. My original inspiration for running came from my an incredibly strong woman: my Mom. I didn’t even know she used to run until recently, because she fought a terminal illness for most of my life. We didn’t get to have the kinds of deep conversations that I wish we could’ve had before she passed away last year. As I sifted through her old photos and belongings, I found pictures of her running marathons and letters and awards for her work as a lawyer. She made a difference in a lot of people’s lives. She fought for the rights of countless women to be able to live free of domestic violence and for children to grow up in safe environments. I now know where I get my passion for running and social justice from. I hope to carry on her legacy. I’m so lucky to have many strong womxn as role models in my life, who encourage, inspire, and empower me and so many others. I celebrate you and am grateful for you today and every day! . Thanks to @katharinahoffmanm @_ballerinas_world @goldtogreen for organizing this wonderful IWD Run to bring Berlin together in solidarity for a more equal future. . As we get into peak season at Freycinet, here are a few top tips for making your visit more enjoyable. The Park is at its busiest in mid-summer, so prepare for delays at this time, especially at the Wineglass Bay car park between 10am and 3pm. Consider visiting before 9am and after 4pm when the day is cooler. Due to the traffic hazard, queuing for a car park to become available is not permitted. Roadside parking is limited because of the narrow roads. If it’s looking busy, try exploring other Freycinet sights such as Sleepy Bay, Cape Tourville lighthouse and boardwalk, and Richardson’s Beach. The Freycinet Visitor Centre has a comprehensive shop and information on local attractions, as well as the popular Discovery Ranger activities. Visit www.parks.tas.gov.au for information. The Coles Bay township and Muirs Beach also offer plenty of activities to help fill the day. As recently stated by Willamette University President Stephen Thorsett, Our hearts have been with these 93 students, who had long-prepared for a year of study and travel in the United States, only to have the pandemic scuttle their plans before they even had a chance to settle in. We especially want to thank all of the staff, faculty and administrators at TIUA and Willamette University that assisted in helping the students have a successful departure. 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙎𝙐𝙈𝙈𝙄𝙏 was created as a workout, health & fitness initiative for kids to be apart of as summer activities got minimized due to the pandemic. As weeks went in, it turned into bringing people together, keeping kids off the streets and providing a safe haven where they can be active in recreational activities and learn the necessary everyday skills that’s needed for today’s youth. This wouldn’t be possible without the support from some of the top coaches, trainers and motivational speakers throughout the city. May Mobilitys autonomous shuttles are set to resume service in Grand Rapids Aug. 31 with added safety features, upgraded disinfection measures, and new operational guidelines. According to a recent article by @forbes, the new safety measures include a plexiglass partition between the front seats where the fleet attendant/safety driver sits and passenger area. Each shuttle is now also equipped with three grēnlite UV-C lamps made by automotive supplier GHSP and a hand sanitizer dispenser. Two of the UV-C lamps are mounted on the roof in the passenger area with the third being in the front compartment. It will take about 5 minutes to sanitize the vehicle between rides. Trips will also be limited to transporting individuals or groups of people who live together. . . I was around 5 years old the first time I went to the dinosaurs. It was one of the few trips I went on with my mom. We lived in San Luis Obispo County at the time. She drove our light blue 1971 BMW to Palm Springs and we went on the sky tram, which had different (scarier) cars at the time. That was the last time we drove that car because shortly after the engine caught fire. Pretty sure the Palm Springs heat (or sky tram hill) killed our car. lol Inside the dinosaur is a gift shop and I bought a magical silver ring with a mini rainbow crystal ball on it. I think I still have the ring in a box somewhere. Years later when we moved back from Alaska we came to the dinosaurs again, but at night. The air was warm and breezy. 2020 Fall Semester & 2021 Winter Intersession Courses As you’re likely aware, the number of COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County continues to increase. With this in mind, and out of a desire to ensure your health and safety, 2020 Fall Semester courses at El Camino College will be held online for the duration of the semester. Likewise, courses for the 2021 Winter Intersession will be delivered remotely for the entirety of the Intersession period. You’ll be able to take the classes you need, delivered safely in an online format. And as always, you’ll have access to the same resources you need to help you succeed. There are still a lot of open Fall Semester classes available, so register today. Even though we remain in this online mode of instruction, Governor Newsom has issued directives regarding training and staffing of essential sectors during the pandemic. That means a limited number of programs that prepare students for employment in essential industries will be allowed to hold face-to-face classes on campus during the 2020 Fall Semester. These classes will be held following all appropriate social distancing and safety protocols. El Camino College programs that are defined as essential under current state directives include the following sectors: Allied Health and Public Health, Emergency Services, and Critical Manufacturing. A jornada foi intensa e cheia de conquistas. Após treze anos de Abril, onde ingressei como estagiário da revista Manequim, eu me despeço hoje da empresa com carinho e orgulho. Por Vejinha e Veja, onde estive entre idas e vindas ao longo dos últimos 11 anos, tive a oportunidade de me encontrar como repórter e de me reconhecer como alguém muito feliz na profissão que escolheu. Foram inúmeras reportagens, entrevistas, notas, vídeos e plantões. Escrevi livro (Biaggi) e ajudei a executar um documentário (Asa Branca) pela empresa. Cachaça pura. Tive o privilégio de apurar e investigar histórias de grande repercussão, de entrevistar de rainha (Silvia, da Suécia) a rei (Pelé). Vi crianças de 12 anos casadas com homens de 50 no Maranhão, testemunhei um rapaz gastar 300 000 reais por mês com baladas da Vila Olímpia e ficar famoso como o Rei do Camarote. Em Orlando, após eu quase ter sido preso por denúncias de seus vizinhos, Silvio Santos enfim abriu a porta de casa decorada com plantas de plástico e me recebeu para uma rara entrevista – e fez a foto lavando louça, pois sua diarista, chamada Erica, fazia apenas meio período. Certa vez, no pancadão do Baile da Gaiola por volta das 7 da manhã, traficantes de fuzil queriam entender a minha presença ali com o fotógrafo. Explicamos com naturalidade – e aval da tia do Rennan da Penha – que queríamos apenas subir na cabine do DJ todo de Gucci para fazer a imagem de abre da reportagem sobre gays no funk. Os exemplos de reportagens são inúmeros. The SBC feels these infrastructures could be customized to help create a better sense of place through art, aesthetic, and recreation initiatives. SURPRISE!!! We’re coming back!!! After a few months of monitoring the evolution of COVID-19, there are ways we can responsibly run together and I feel now more than ever, we need it. I miss this community, and in seeing many of your faces in passing or at the food bank over the past few weeks, I have heard you miss it too. This will not be the same Run Wild Cle that we know. There will not be hugs or high fives, no hand-holding partner exercises, tight packed huddles, or post run brewery hangs. But there will great people, a hard workout, and good vibes to head into your weekend. We have laid out guidelines to make this a safe space for everyone. - We ask that everyone wear a mask as you arrive and gather before the run. You don’t not need to run with a mask on but if you plan to run close to others for an extended period of time, please wear one. - We ask that all body weight exercises are performed with a 6 foot distance. - If you plan to stay after and socialize, we ask you put your mask back on until you leave. - We will have hand sanitizer at the ready for anyone that may want it We will not be at our typical locations - some of our favorite locations are also very popular with Clevelanders so to decrease risk, we’ll be meeting at some other spots that we may not have been to before. Because of community support, we were able to post the full bond for our comrade who has been caged since Saturday’s action. 60+ people showed up for this person’s court hearing today that would determine whether they had bond. Whether or not they would be able to go home. It made a difference. Community support makes a difference. Thank you for the ways y’all have been showing up. It barely happened (I tested false positive for COVID, there were loads of issues getting out of the US for the New Yorkers, etc.), but in the end, @beccastevensbsb, @giselajoaoaberdadeira, @reallouiscato, Justin, and I (plus special guest @schramnate and engineer extraordinaire @nic.hard) pulled it off and cranked out 10 new little babies for a concert tonight that will now be without an audience due to the recent arrival of a malevolent group of music-hating extraterrestrials, so weird that they decided to land here (that excuse sounds way cooler than COVID). It will be filmed and eventually made available for viewing, methinks. ⚡️Mosaic Wellness Initiative Kickoff⚡️ We are piloting a new program to encourage Mosaic members to practice wellness, both physical and mental. All individuals that want to participate in the Mosaic Wellness Initiative are placed in a house. Each house is made of up of a group of members in the Mosaic community that will be competing against one another to see who ends up with the most points at the end of the semester. A little friendly competition to help motivate us to improve our wellness! Points can be accrued through various things such as attending wellness programs, working out, attending classes in the ARC, and much more. Some of our goals are to develop an understanding of how wellness correlates with overall success, cultivate techniques to manage stress and develop mindful practices, provide exposure to a wide spectrum of fitness experiences, and develop positive, sustainable routines and habits. Hasta que un dia dije BASTA. Basta de comer el puré de los chicas para no tirarlo, basta de comer las sobras de la familia o hacer lo que nadie quiere! . Estando en una sesión álgida de terapia mi psicóloga me preguntó: “Fabi porque se pone usted sola en el lugar del tacho??” . Bueno, sencillamente correr es lo que me saca de ahí! Eso. Cuando corro soy de nuevo yo. No como los restos de nadie ni soy el salvoconducto de la humanidad. Soy simplemente yo. Fabi la que corre, la que canta mientras corre, la que baila mientras corre, la que despeja su mente mientras corre. By living according to your word.” -Psalm 118:13 being a christian is not just going to church on sundays. once you surrender yourself to Jesus, your faith should be the first thing on your mind. every single day should be about him, not just when you feel like it. you have to show what you believe in through everything that you do. as proverbs 27:1 says “As water reflects the face, so the heart reflects the person.” the way you act outside of church and events such as fuge camp really shows how pure your heart is. i sure know i mess up a LOT. but that’s okay, if we were perfect Jesus wouldn’t have had to die on the cross for us. something big we talked about this week was the fact that you are never too far gone. it doesn’t matter how deep in to sin you may feel, there is absolutely nothing that our Father cannot do. people often bring up my past and say things like “i know what you did” or “remember how you used to” yes, i remember. and i probably won’t forget it either. but that’s not the point. all of that is washed away. it’s gone. i’m restored. it doesn’t matter what i did then, because i’ve changed. i didn’t just ask for forgiveness, say i believe in God and then go and do it again. i asked for salvation. i asked God to completely wash away my sins and restore my broken soul. and then i set my heart on him and decided to fully follow him. yes i still mess up, yes i still struggle with things. but that doesn’t determine anything. i am God’s. and he is mine. so without further ado, JESUSSSSSS - @lukeaveryy on Instagram
