The underappreciated rodent. 🐿 From 2011-2013, we worked with local partners to relocate California ground squirrels as part of a long-term recovery effort for western burrowing owls. Collapsing of the Wall Arch proves gravity does work. On August 4th it was standing fine then the next second it had fallen to the ground. The rock had become too heavy for the base to support and the sediment finally collapsed. Found a Great Horned Owl nest yesterday. Also known as The Tiger Owl because of it’s hunting prowess and talons. Came back this evening and discovered one of the babies had left the nest. This owl will spend the next 24-36 hours on the ground under watchful eyes of the mother. Then the owl will transition to branches at head height. Hiking has always been an important part of my life. When Johnny shared that he had a similar vision, of sharing the outdoors with the community, it was evident that it was the perfect person to join forces with! And then HIKEscapeLA came to life. 2. Most memorable experience: There’s no one specific moment, because each hike had something special. For example, seeing the children’s reactions as they witnessed such amazing views, struggling side by side with someone, witnessing someone reach their goal - joining a group for the first time, getting outdoors after so long, reaching the summit of a peak, and the bonds that were created on the trails. 3. Funniest moment/Memory? One of the funniest moments for me was when we were exhausted and wanted to be off the mountain. It was one of the peaks, can’t recall which one right now. We started singing Selena, Juan Gabriel, etc. to help make time go faster! 4. What is the biggest takeaway from HikescapeLA? Biggest take away is the incredible amount of support we have received over the years. It is an honor to have met so many amazing people and witness the unity among the hikers when the going got tough. I am really grateful for all the memories shared. 5. What is in store for the future? Definitely continue hiking, it’s a must for me. Family time. We are very proud to announce we have been offered an exhibition of all our collaborations at our local gallery Firstsite in Colchester. This is a big deal for us! We are regular visitors. The 6th edition of the H&D Summer Academy: ‘Network Imaginaries’ will take place remotely from July 20-25, 2020 🕹 Without rendering the current events as an opportunity we restructured the annual H&D Summer Academy into a distributed workshop programme—taking place in one dedicated week in July 2020! Our proposal is to collaborate with smaller groups in different places in the world, help each other with developing and facilitating remote learning formats that will be presented and shared online, with a bigger group of participants. Trainingslehrgang in Samorin. Der ÖRSV veranstaltete letzte Woche den ersten Lehrgang im Ausland seit März dieses Jahres. Hierfür wurden die hervorragenden Beziehungen nach Samorin/SVK genutzt. Die Anlage @xbionicsphere bietet alles was das Sportlerherz begehrt. Ein großes Dankeschön an Radovan Valach für die Organisation der Matten und an Richard Ungerhofer für die Betreuung vor Ort. Die AthletenInnen hatten eine außergewöhnliche Woche in der Slowakei. Insgesamt waren 18 AthletenInnen beim Lehrgang vertreten. Die Trainer, um die Sportdirektoren Jörg Helmdach und Benedikt Ernst, organisierten eine intensive Trainingswoche für die SportlerInnen. Neben Trainingseinheiten auf der Matte wurden auch diverse Trainings im konditionellen Bereich durchgeführt. Abwechslungsreich und mit einem großen Spaßfaktor verbunden war sicherlich eine Frühsporteinheit auf Stand Up Paddles zur Schulung des Gleichgewichtes im Aqua-Sphere der Anlage. Am Mittwoch standen seit langer Zeit wieder einmal offizielle Trainingswettkämpfe am Plan. Diese wurden im Anschluss entsprechend analysiert und individuelle Ableitungen getroffen. Das Trainerteam konnte auch abseits der Matte wichtige Gespräche bezüglich der weiteren Vorgehensweise im Verband führen. Die aktuelle Zeit erfordert enorme Flexibilität in der Planung und dies wiederum erfordert einen erheblichen Mehraufwand für die Verantwortlichen. Die weitere Planung der Stilarten unterscheidet sich ab jetzt wesentlich von einander. Die Frauengruppe reiste unter der Leitung von BT Lubos Cikel direkt von Samorin nach Hennef/GER zu einem Trainingslehrgang mit der deutschen Nationalmannschaft. Gleiches wurde eine Woche später für die Freistilmannschaft in Heidelberg/GER organisiert. Ab dem 20.09.2020 wird dann das Griechisch-Römisch Team nach Deutschland reisen, um endlich wieder Kontakt zu anderen Athleten zu bekommen. Der Österr. Almost 300 of us went to the biggest ranch in Point Reyes on Sunday. We wanted to show what 30% of the National Park looks like: isolation pens, degraded soil, and the words of @shameofpointreyes a Biodiversity Graveyard. . We have less than 30 days before @pointreyesnps signs their final plan which would expand industry in the park and kill the Tule elk. . We will continue to push for wildlife defense, for ecosystem restoration, for phasing out industry off public lands. . We are asking people to call the California coastal commission to step in and demand supplemental environmental review, and water quality testing to be done before the plan gets signed. . We are also asking @gavinnewsom and @repadamschiff to step in and pressure the park to do these environmental reviews and water quality tests. . The corona pandemic is having a huge impact on research and education across all disciplines. For archaeology one of the larger disadvantages is that excavations as usual can no longer proceed. At Leiden University, we are testing corona safe protocols to allow students and researchers to continue their work in a social distancing society. Right now, Prof. M. Soressi and her team are running a pilot excavation at Quinçay cave in France - following international requirements for excavations with social distancing. Ok a couple days late but THANK YOU to the @televisionacad for producing a fun, safe and smooth Creative Arts Emmys!! Cooperative Extensions throughout the United States are managed by the land grant university of that state, and CE offices are present in just about every county across the nation. Here in California CE falls under the University of California Ag & Natural Resources. In Orange County, programs like 4-H, Expanded Food & Nutrition (EFNEP), Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers are just some of the CE programs housed at South Coast. County CE can also have academic advisor led research programs serving the needs of the respective county. ⚡️Mosaic Wellness Initiative Kickoff⚡️ We are piloting a new program to encourage Mosaic members to practice wellness, both physical and mental. All individuals that want to participate in the Mosaic Wellness Initiative are placed in a house. Each house is made of up of a group of members in the Mosaic community that will be competing against one another to see who ends up with the most points at the end of the semester. A little friendly competition to help motivate us to improve our wellness! Points can be accrued through various things such as attending wellness programs, working out, attending classes in the ARC, and much more. Some of our goals are to develop an understanding of how wellness correlates with overall success, cultivate techniques to manage stress and develop mindful practices, provide exposure to a wide spectrum of fitness experiences, and develop positive, sustainable routines and habits. @michaelleagueplaysmusic - The last week and a half has been a creative firestorm thanks to fellow Snarky Puppy @justinmstanton, who had the idea to lock 5 musician/producer/songwriters together in a remote location to compose 10 new songs as part of a residency in the incredibly beautiful Alentejo region of Portugal. It barely happened (I tested false positive for COVID, there were loads of issues getting out of the US for the New Yorkers, etc.), but in the end, @beccastevensbsb, @giselajoaoaberdadeira, @reallouiscato, Justin, and I (plus special guest @schramnate and engineer extraordinaire @nic.hard) pulled it off and cranked out 10 new little babies for a concert tonight that will now be without an audience due to the recent arrival of a malevolent group of music-hating extraterrestrials, so weird that they decided to land here (that excuse sounds way cooler than COVID). It will be filmed and eventually made available for viewing, methinks. I can’t thank @alentejo.ert and @municipiodeportalegre enough for making it happen, and the beautiful winery @casa_da_urra for being such wonderful hosts. As we get into peak season at Freycinet, here are a few top tips for making your visit more enjoyable. The Park is at its busiest in mid-summer, so prepare for delays at this time, especially at the Wineglass Bay car park between 10am and 3pm. Consider visiting before 9am and after 4pm when the day is cooler. Due to the traffic hazard, queuing for a car park to become available is not permitted. Roadside parking is limited because of the narrow roads. If it’s looking busy, try exploring other Freycinet sights such as Sleepy Bay, Cape Tourville lighthouse and boardwalk, and Richardson’s Beach. The Freycinet Visitor Centre has a comprehensive shop and information on local attractions, as well as the popular Discovery Ranger activities. Visit www.parks.tas.gov.au for information. “A riot is the language of the unheard,” as well as the oppressed and the desperate. For those of you who don’t know what it’s like being black in America, or being black in general (because the hate for us is universal), it is like walking on pins and needles. It’s going above and beyond just to prove your competence in the work place. It’s being shut down because your frustration is deemed trivial and exaggerated. It’s that fear of your loved one not returning home. It’s constantly being questioned and interrogated. It’s being wrongly arrested and convicted. It’s watching your culture be stolen and rebranded as something “new.” It’s turning on the TV only to find out that another one of your brothers or sisters has been murdered at the hands of the same people who took an oath to uphold the constitution and never abandon their integrity. Being black is a blessing and a nightmare. It’s exhausting living your life in constant fear and frustration. I can’t even articulate the pain I feel, and this post doesn’t do it justice. If you know me, you know that I am a very pro-black person, but often times I am dismissed, mostly by my own people because I sound like a broken record. It’s because of this that I have to pick and choose my arguments. I’m just using my platform to voice my concerns, and you should too. Silence is the greatest betrayal to your race. If you were TRULY conscious, then you wouldn’t be content with the way things are!! This is why we protest. This is why we “riot.” Because our concerns are swept under the rug and no other route has been effective. I don’t ask for my rights, I demand them because I shouldn’t have to ask for them in the first place. Is treating us like the human beings we are that difficult, or is it easier for you to watch a man die beneath you as you suffocate and taunt him? Taking all of these innocent people away from their loving families. Please hear me out, whether you’re black or not. Reposting simply isn’t enough. Sign a petition. Donate. A jornada foi intensa e cheia de conquistas. Após treze anos de Abril, onde ingressei como estagiário da revista Manequim, eu me despeço hoje da empresa com carinho e orgulho. Por Vejinha e Veja, onde estive entre idas e vindas ao longo dos últimos 11 anos, tive a oportunidade de me encontrar como repórter e de me reconhecer como alguém muito feliz na profissão que escolheu. Foram inúmeras reportagens, entrevistas, notas, vídeos e plantões. Escrevi livro (Biaggi) e ajudei a executar um documentário (Asa Branca) pela empresa. Cachaça pura. Tive o privilégio de apurar e investigar histórias de grande repercussão, de entrevistar de rainha (Silvia, da Suécia) a rei (Pelé). Vi crianças de 12 anos casadas com homens de 50 no Maranhão, testemunhei um rapaz gastar 300 000 reais por mês com baladas da Vila Olímpia e ficar famoso como o Rei do Camarote. Em Orlando, após eu quase ter sido preso por denúncias de seus vizinhos, Silvio Santos enfim abriu a porta de casa decorada com plantas de plástico e me recebeu para uma rara entrevista – e fez a foto lavando louça, pois sua diarista, chamada Erica, fazia apenas meio período. Certa vez, no pancadão do Baile da Gaiola por volta das 7 da manhã, traficantes de fuzil queriam entender a minha presença ali com o fotógrafo. Explicamos com naturalidade – e aval da tia do Rennan da Penha – que queríamos apenas subir na cabine do DJ todo de Gucci para fazer a imagem de abre da reportagem sobre gays no funk. Os exemplos de reportagens são inúmeros. Agradeço aos tantos amigos com quem dividi desafios, como Adriana Dias Lopes, Alecsandra Zapparoli (🌷), Alvaro Leme, Amanda Maia, Ana Celia Aschenbach, André Petry, Carol Giovanelli, Daniel Bergamasco, Fábio Altman, Mário Rodrigues, Maurício Lima e Tiago Faria. Consiste en el uso de compost y compuestos orgánicos con diferentes preparados (hierbas, abono, entre otros) y el uso de calendarios lunares y biodinámicos. Este principio filosófico fue propuesto por Rudolph Steiner hace casi 100 años. ¿Saben estos vinos diferentes a los demás? ¡No! Existe una creencia popular de que estos vinos saben diferente a los vinos tradicionales pero te soprendería saber que reconocidas marcas tienen este tipo de prácticas (Champagne Cristal, de Louis Rederer, por ejemplo!) Para identificar este tipo de vino encontraremos en la parte de atrás de la botella las certificaciones Demeter o Bodyvin. By living according to your word.” -Psalm 118:13 being a christian is not just going to church on sundays. once you surrender yourself to Jesus, your faith should be the first thing on your mind. every single day should be about him, not just when you feel like it. you have to show what you believe in through everything that you do. as proverbs 27:1 says “As water reflects the face, so the heart reflects the person.” the way you act outside of church and events such as fuge camp really shows how pure your heart is. i sure know i mess up a LOT. but that’s okay, if we were perfect Jesus wouldn’t have had to die on the cross for us. something big we talked about this week was the fact that you are never too far gone. it doesn’t matter how deep in to sin you may feel, there is absolutely nothing that our Father cannot do. people often bring up my past and say things like “i know what you did” or “remember how you used to” yes, i remember. and i probably won’t forget it either. but that’s not the point. all of that is washed away. it’s gone. i’m restored. it doesn’t matter what i did then, because i’ve changed. i didn’t just ask for forgiveness, say i believe in God and then go and do it again. i asked for salvation. i asked God to completely wash away my sins and restore my broken soul. and then i set my heart on him and decided to fully follow him. yes i still mess up, yes i still struggle with things. but that doesn’t determine anything. i am God’s. and he is mine. so without further ado, JESUSSSSSS - @lukeaveryy on Instagram

Te pasó alguna vez de comer lo que tus hijos dejan en el plato para no tirar? Te paso alguna vez de tomarte el yogur que les compraste y los chicos decidieron que “no les gusta mas” y para no tirarlo decís me lo tomo yo? . Te pasó de tener un plan armado para salir con una amiga y suspenderlo porque tu hij@ tiene prueba y tenes que estudiar con ellos así ponen la cola en la silla y se concentran? Te pasó de ser la hija que NO tiene hijos y que en la familia asuman que por ese motivo sos la mas “desocupada” y la que se ocupa siempre de los asuntos familiares ? A mi SI me paso! Hasta que un dia dije BASTA. Basta de comer el puré de los chicas para no tirarlo, basta de comer las sobras de la familia o hacer lo que nadie quiere! . Estando en una sesión álgida de terapia mi psicóloga me preguntó: “Fabi porque se pone usted sola en el lugar del tacho??” . Bueno, sencillamente correr es lo que me saca de ahí! Eso. Cuando corro soy de nuevo yo. No como los restos de nadie ni soy el salvoconducto de la humanidad. Soy simplemente yo. Fabi la que corre, la que canta mientras corre, la que baila mientras corre, la que despeja su mente mientras corre.
