It was @jeffreydeanmorgan ‘s idea that we paint this birdhouse together as a family. Thanks to the generosity of our fans and friends, the two birdhouses we had painted individually for the @rhinebeckresponds auction sold right away, with weeks to spare. This fundraiser is collecting funds to support our local small businesses that have been ravaged by the pandemic and economic shut downs. When asked if I’d paint another, but was unsure what to make of this one, Jeff suggested we let the kids lead the way. It’s pretty much how we’ve handled all of quarantine. Gus painted his side first. It’s him, as a lazy tv loving bird. Not a damn thing wrong with that. Lockdown birds know how to @netflix and chill. George went next. She grabbed her beloved dinosaurs - ancestor of modern birds. They stomped out a pattern before getting a wash in our bathtub, the same tub we have housed countless chicks and ducklings. I went next, taking turns between painting a layer and cooking dinner. I based my “mother hen” on our new Lavender Orpington birds, all of which George named Elsa. Then, as the rest of us snuggled in bed, Jeffrey sketched out and painted his duck. He spends so much time spoiling our ducks, cleaning their pond, giving them treats. We’d had a duck named Norman (named for the @laikastudios Movie @paranorman ) with a wild tuft of feathers on his head for years. He disappeared one day and we cursed the fox or coyote that got our eccentric little duck. But this summer, unbeknownst to us, one of our girls had been hiding a whole nest of eggs. And one miraculous morning there were a whole new flock of babies. One of which had a wild little tuft. Norman #2. So, as different as we all may be, we are birds of a feather and certainly better together. We offer up our “Birds of a Feather” artwork in the @rhinebeckresponds auction link in my bio. I’m going to leave here for a bit. I’m tired, I’m worn out, and I need to rest. This place has brought me more abundance than I could have ever imagined. It has given me the most crystal clear affirmations that what I put into the world has some value and worth. It has given me a level of confidence in myself and in my values, thoughts and opinions that has truly helped me grow as a person and an artist. It has also highlighted parts of myself that, while they’re important that I see in myself, aren’t something that I care to be putting myself through so regularly. I have slowly come to realize that I did not evolve in such a way that equipped me to be the subject of so much critique, praise, attention, ridicule, love and judgement. But more specific to my relationship with this platform is that, while I am aware of my inability to handle it, I have given myself unfettered access to it. And the more alarming aspect of it is that there is little to no consciousness to my level of interaction with it. I feel like the smoker who‘s routine has become so habitual that not a single thought goes into their actions, never once weighing the potential harm this short lived experience of sensation may bring. I feels like an utter disconnect from reality when I find myself doing something so thoughtlessly, knowing that it’s more subtractive than it is additive to my wellness. The sense of authorship and autonomy in my life that I have surrendered to this platform is disconcerting, to say the least. This is something I’m still in the midst of working out as it has become such a big part of my life and identity it’s going to take some real priority evaluation and introspection to understand what role I want it to have in my life. (For guidance with that I am reading ‘Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport) At the end of the day, all I want to do, more than anything, is to share my art with the world and don’t believe that should come at any cost to my mental health. Thank you for bearing with me in this time while I figure out how to take some steps to reconnect with a more genuine sense of myself. AYYY IT’S MY BIRTHDAYYY!! 😎🎉✨Some year it’s been!! While of course this year has definitely had its scary uncertainties, curveballs, and painful moments, I think birthdays are the perfect time to celebrate all the joy life has afforded us. Lol really didn’t leave home all that much this year, but you know what.. I’m still gonna say it was still a good one! Watched some good movies with my family outside, designed my own island in Animal crossing, read some amazin self help books, got some chuckles on Tik Tok😂, took some VERY solid mid-day naps, meditated and reflected (a lot) on this journey I’ve had so far!✨ It’s definitely not the year I imagined having, and yet there was still so much joy in it to be found. I think 2020 has been a huge reminder of the power of conscious gratitude. ACTIVELY looking for and remembering all the things that you’re thankful for.❤️ That’s not to say you’re constantly convincing yourself that everything all rosy and perfect -it’s not. I cant believe its been 3 years since my last release. For several years, I was caught in a cycle of creating albums in under three months, promoting them for three months & touring for 6 months. With the announcement of my wifes pregnancy in 2017, I decided I needed some time off.  Ive had three years to be a father, husband, friend & musician. When I finally felt I had found a balance, my life & everyone elses was thrown off course. Odd Cure was written & produced after I had arrived from a show in Thailand on March, 9th 2020. I had no idea that would be my last show of the year. Worried that I might be carrying Covid-19, I quarantined in my studio for 14 days. It was within those two weeks that I FaceTimed my wife & child, Called my family, House Partied with friends I hadnt spoken to in years & made this record. This project encapsulates where I was mentally & physically at this point in our shared history. Im honored to share this record with you all as well. Photos from album cover shoot by @nateshuls. Main stream media, Right wing patriot, left wing Democrats, conspiracies, anti-conspiracy propaganda, Q movements, fact checker sites, etc. and be mindful of what you’re being fed. Seek out information you want to learn about from every perspective. ⁣ Misinformation is the cause of destabilization. The fact that the AI is set up to create division and chaos and is used to indoctrinate you into a side fueled with anger. People are becoming radicalized through algorithmic suggestions.⁣ ⁣ No matter what rabbit hole you find yourself in, it’s important to take step back and evaluate the information that you’re being presented.⁣ ⁣ Remember, we create the narrative that we live in. Be careful of what narrative you decide to latch on to, to believe fully. This takes a constant practice of awareness.⁣ ⁣ Just think of how we’ve all been pitted against each other even through these last few months.⁣ ⁣ This day in age, how does one believe anything with full conviction? Dear @jntexpressid sudah 5 bulan aku menghabiskan waktu di rumah saja karena rsgm tempat aku menyelesaikan pendidikan drg diliburkan. Untuk mengisi hari hari di rumah agar tidak makan, tidur dan nonton drama korea saja, aku memutuskan untuk membuka online shop ( @gekies.id ) yang berjualan barang-barang ramah lingkungan. Ditengah-tengah menjalankan aktivitas berjualan aku menemukan satu kendala, yaituu memori hp yang terlalu kecil sehingga tidak bisa menginstall sosial media serta ecommerce, dan kadang-kadang tidak bisa melakukan foto/video produk karena memori sudah penuh oleh aplikasi chating yang juga sebagai jalan komunikasi perkuliahan jarak jauh. Alasan kedua aku membuka onlineshop juga agar mendapat uang jajan tambahan dan belajar menghasilkan uang sendiri agar kedepannya bisa mandiri secara finansial. Buat ganti hp, uang tabungan belum cukup, minta ganti hp ke orangtua harus berpikir 2 kali, karena bulan depan juga harus bayar uang kuliah ditambah selama pandemi semua sektor ekonomi mengalami penurunan.
