#repost @itstashhaynes: One is 18 months out, while the other is 18 weeks in 😍  What a privilege to have this picture of me, in real time, providing nourishment for two of my babies, both in and outside of the womb.     When Wisdom was born, I nursed for 2 years and was shamed by most of my family because no one before me had chosen to breastfeed and it didn’t make sense to them. With Courage, I have nursed for the last 18-months and I have served as a milk donor, helping to provide supplements for my girls and 3 other babies. Although I love the benefits of feeding in this way, so much more has come from my experience.     Growing up in foster care, without the nurturing of a mom and being completely detached from what it meant to be a mother, it was a very slow and hard journey for me to connect. The utter reliance that a baby has on you when you’re nursing taught me to surrender my own longings for a mom and to step into the role of being one.     Breastfeeding was and has been my saving grace.     I struggled so much those first couple of months as a mother, learning, healing and growing, but nursing quickly became my most cherished time with my children. It taught me what mothering was all about, an unspoken lesson that I needed so badly that could only come by experience and it has been instrumental in helping me to bond with my babies.   I can’t wait to meet #3 + to start this journey with them. - @womenirl on Instagram

I didn’t know it was possible to hold your breath for nine months, now I’m realizing in so many ways I did through Ozzie’s pregnancy. I would say to myself “I will get excited after a darker line, after bloodwork, after seeing the heartbeat or once we make it to 12 weeks.” I cried in Jason’s arms one night for living the first part of my pregnancy guarded, in deep fear of my heart being shattered again. Thankfully with leaning into the Lord, trusting his plan and recalling His past faithfulness, I was able to celebrate my growing belly, the baby kicks and I started to bond with my daughter and dream about her sweet face. Then the Gestational Diabetes diagnosis sent me right back into a state of fear. I spent the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy listening to care providers list off every possible risk, complication and possibility for babies born to mothers with GD. At times it felt impossible to not get swallowed up in it all. Now here in all the rawness of postpartum, it hits me! All the walls crumble, the tears of relief uncontrollably roll down my cheeks onto her head and I breath again! I breath in the sweet goodness of her fresh baby smell and I soak up every ounce of her being. She’s here, really here, safe and whole! I wake up at 6am, pour my coffee and sit outside under a dull grey dawn lit sky for 10 minutes peace before the working day starts. I reach the dregs, they dissapoint and remind me its time to head out. Running upstairs I give Jax a kiss on his sweaty head, accidentally waking him, plant one on Soph and apologise as I head out the door. 10 mile cycle, 5 hours labouring. My hands are cut to pieces, Im starving. 10 mile ride home. . The sun is shining, golden hour. I walk in the house and theres the little man, in his little gym, with his little trousers and little top on his little body. He doesnt see me but he hears me walk in. . I dive into his gym, get right up in his face and say Hello my baby boy!! He lights up, we light up, he smiles, we laugh! Im full to the brim. I feel so special I can hardly understand it. The best thing I have ever seen is happy to see me too. Recovery is always a triggering experience, because I worry that maybe my fibromyalgia or CFS symptoms will come back. Today is my 2 years remission anniversary from fibromyalgia and severe CFS/ME. No symptoms or medications. . . Pregnancy recovery has me worried that Ill be debilitated and trapped in suffering again. I have had to work with my mind/body therapist on this to release immense fear. Thankfully any symptoms I have had have been normal and do pass (minus the severe preeclampsia post birth). I just keep telling myself, I have so much evidence now that my body can heal. . . The things that have been critical for maintaining my health are sleep and stress reduction. My family has been very supportive of me being able to get sleep. Stress reduction has come through my relationship with God and my therapist. I do many things to maintain being in remission. Its a lifestyle...eating well, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, etc. . . Do symptoms trigger anxiety for you? We made it!! 😍 6 months of breastfeeding my baby girl & Im so proud we made it this far😍 We havent had an easy journey, but Im so glad I can continue breastfeeding Violett as I have such a special bond with her & I really love breastfeeding🥰 I am continuing to have a dairy free diet due to Vi having CMPI. We introduced formula about 2 weeks ago to assist with her excessive vomiting, causing poor weight gain. Which is now be ruled down to ger intolerance to cows milk protein (hopefully nothing else, but trial & error at this stage). She has only been having the bottle at night time & the day bottle every now and again.
