The glove is custom-made for Michael Jackson by Bill Whitten and is covered with over 800 Swarovski rhinestones crystals. Michael Jackson had many trademarks; the iconic moonwalk and the fedora hat to name a few. However, he was without doubt most famous for his sparkling glove. Jackson found his way to the glove in the late 1970’s and was forever associated with it. During his career, the iconic glove was made in some variations, with the one being offered here as the one he used the most. The gloves were handmade by his two costume designers Bill Whitten and the duo Tompkins & Bush. Vienna is 1! She made her first trip around the sun and a year later she continues to shine brighter each day. Vienna loves fresh air, waving to strangers, yelling DOG at all the good boys of the neighborhood. She loves to laugh and dance, she eats everything on her plate, wants to read at least ten books a day, and will play any musical instrument, toy, or pan she finds. I love that when we walk out our door she always wants to hold onto my finger. For a girl so independent and always determined to discover something new she still lets me cuddle her and will take the occasional afternoon nap by my side. Sweet girl, to quote one of your favorite books. “Everything is mama according to you. But one day you’ll see mama’s everything is you.” (For the record, Vienna says dada about 10 to 1 to mama!) We just heard this morning that our beloved friend, artist, mentor and musician Alan Kozlowski has passed on. All those who knew him will probably agree that he was a rare, hugely soulful and spiritual being – always so full of love and warmth and kindness. Always. So so loved by so so many people in Santa Barbara and elsewhere. He was kind of like the tallest Redwood in our little forest. Always supporting and participating in our local music scene and taking us to spiritual places. Even just by his presence. His home was a regular gathering place for spontaneous after hours jams and he brought his wonderful friends to our humble shop for music and merry making and story telling events when we had his spiritually-enriching photography all over our walls. He invited his dear friends like Jeff Bridges, Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, Jeff Postell, Erich Reidl, Johnny Irion and others to come to our stage and jam. And they all came because they Love him. Our friend David Wexler introduced us to Alan and he said today that he’s probably jamming with his dear friends Ravi Shankar and George Harrison now. ART ALL DAY My oldest son, Bo, wants to be an artist when he grows up, so of course we had to jump into the Chester County Open Studio Tour today. I let him look through the catalog and select the artists that he wanted to meet, and then we hit the road and made a day of it. This was the best art education one could imagine, getting to interact with artists, learn about what inspires them, the process of art making, getting demonstrations, talking through so many important subjects around creation and mediums--it was a blast, which inspired a lot of fun conversations. And we saved his top pick, a glass art studio, for last, and we were not disappointed. He went home with a few new pieces of art to add his own collection. Couldnt have asked for a better day. What a whirlwind these past couple months have been. Launching a contemporary art exhibition was quite the challenge, and I could not have done it without my amazing support system. Thank you to all of my family and friends who made the trip to San Diego to see the exhibition and toast a glass (or two) of wine. It means the world. And to my indentured servants (especially my rockstar husband) who sacrificed weekend time to help me, and as a result will never look at Velcro the same way again, words cannot express my gratitude.
