Cat is the Assistant Director/Curator for the McClung Museum of Natural History & Culture at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. One word to describe your quarantine time? Intense Where are you working from now? I am working from home in a makeshift office in my attic bedroom How has your daily working routine changed over this time? On the one hand, I am much more able to be productive without office interruptions and as many in-person meetings. On the other hand, I miss those organic hallway meetings and the energy of students in our museum. Whats one virtual event you have attended that you are still raving about/reminiscing on? To be honest, full-time work and full time childcare have kept me from being able to do as many webinars and online events as some museum professionals. However, one of the most productive virtual events I’ve been to are virtual coffee chats with other area museums to see how they’ve been dealing with pivoting to new types of work during the pandemic, exhibition calendars in flux, and re-opening to the public. Any new hobbies/skills developed/created during quarantine? I have finally committed to my long-term goal of fitting in a run, yoga, or a few minutes of meditation most days because of the efficiency of working from home! The final #SurvivorSaturday of #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth is very special because its one of our own! Lauren Peyton was treated at #MSKKids, our pediatric program, when she was fourteen and is now a Clinical Nurse IV at #MSKMonmouth. She was first diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma and later had myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia. Lauren needed a stem cell transplant and was matched with a donor from Germany. They were able to meet in person and are now close friends who text every day and even have matching tattoos to symbolize their connection! Lauren was inspired by her own nurses to become a nurse. She said, Every day I’m really grateful for everything MSK has done for me. Having that support behind you as a patient inspired me to provide that to people.” Lauren also added, What COVID has taught us, and what being a survivor has taught me, is that you can plan as much as you want but you cannot control what happens. My clever friend @felicityboevink (a self described “Covid-safe evangelist”) designed the pattern for this face mask in response to the recent resurgence of the virus in Australia. She has been inundated with orders for these beautiful and functional pieces so encouraged me to join the effort in an attempt to get as many of our lovely clients covered as possible. It looks simple but is deceptively clever, with the perfect angle to sit snuggly over the nose, a wired nose piece and a flattering line around the chin and jaw. More importantly it follows guidance from Vic health with a minimum of three layers including a non-woven poly inner layer and breathable cotton lining against the face. This is the prototype that I have created for myself and I will start posting masks for sale in the next couple of days. What a week crazy week here at @natprodexpo in Anaheim, California ☺️☀️ From all my years, coming to #expowest I thought this year I would come early and be super prepared for the setting up our booth and getting organized for our new product launches 🚀 💁🏼‍♀️✅ My eagerness for being ready didn’t help me this time! 😔💚There’s been so much controversy for the cancellation of Expo West due to the Coronavirus 💚 I arrived last weekend, we thought the show would go on, but as time past vendors and buyers were dropping out of the show💚 It brings sadness that the show was canceled but I 100% agree with the decision to cancel the show due to concerns over the large gathering of ppl and COVID-19 💚 My only disappointment is as a small company the large financial and time investment we make for a show like Expo West, and the show not going on 😔💚 For smaller companies, like us @healthycrunch we spend tens of thousands of dollars on Expo West and it to be canceled is hard to take in 💚After shipping all our products down to the show, flying down to #california , purchasing furniture, putting together the furniture, we sat in our booth waiting for the news of whether the show would be canceled 🤔💚 I have attended many trade shows and I have never seen such an empty show floor the day before the show starts, and as time past, we made a company decision that we would not attend the show even though we were already there💚As an #entrepreneur you learn how to deal with ups and downs and difficult situations like this, and ultimately smile and says “it’s just another day in my #entrepreneurlife “ 😆💚💁🏼‍♀️On the brighter side, since the show was canceled that means our team gets a few free days of rest and soaking in the beautiful sunny California sun ☀️☀️☀️☀️ Happy Crunching! 💚☀️💚☀️ #entrepreneurship #expowest2020 #newhopeexpo #business #tradeshow #life #womeninbusiness #business #coronavirus - @julieswholelivingkitchen on Instagram

Esta indústria pode ser emocionalmente desgastante, podemos ter um dia em que vemos muitos cachorros e gatinhos saudáveis ​​e felizes, e depois ter consultas em que temos de tomar decisões difíceis ou ter conversas difíceis. Realizamos plantões, temos uma extensa carga horária de trabalho, trabalhamos de casa, estamos sempre estudando e buscando atualidades para o diagnóstico e tratamento do seu animalzinho. Não ficamos satisfeitos com o básico, queremos ir além. 🌸So some of the things I have learnt this week are ... . 1. Ripping your mask off when you get in the car is the new kicking your heals off when you get home. . 2. I keep seeing people climbing mountains and biking extreme trails, and I feel good getting my leg through my underwear without falling over. . 3. I stand in the supermarket carefully inspecting the avocados because someone is standing in front of the strawberries that I actually want . 4. I Push the button on an elevator multiple times as if it’s going to make any difference at all . 5. When I forget to answer an email I reply by apologising and saying it had ended up in my spam folder . 6. I am always reading the directions on a food packet and then throwing it in the bin only to have to fish it out 5 minutes later when I can’t remember the instructions. . 7. Sometimes I will take an item to the till to pay for it. It doesn’t have a price on but I want it and how expensive can it be, right? Then you get to the till and when they put it through you realise it’s eye wateringly expensive, but you buy it anyway because it feels too late to change your mind. For some time now I have been part of a Dutch campaign together with researchers and other upstanders. A campaign that strives against discrimination online. And it officially launched today!  I think we can all agree that discrimination is not an option, also not online. However, it exists, can be very hidden and there is relatively low attention to online discrimination even though it can harm a lot too. All the reactions on my own content is is only positive and heartwarming but occasionally under a repost of my content I see negative comments too. From my studies as an anthropologist, it interests me a lot how people behave, also online. And being placed in a different sphere online (through reposting), exposes me to a new field of people, with sometimes a different behavior.  Now, let there be no mistake, I don’t take any of the BS that can be written about my exterior personally. I appreciate myself well-enough and know that whatever others say about me says more about them than me. Ebookowcy, czy u Was była to miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia czy relacja z tą formą książki budowała się z czasem? ✨ Moja relacja z ebookami to dość długa historia. Ale zauważyłam ostatnio, że czytam zdecydowanie więcej książek na czytniku niż w wersji tradycyjnej. Zwyczajnie szybciej mi idzie, gdy książkę mogę mieć cały czas przy sobie i przeczytać kilka stron jeśli mam na to chwilę. Z papierowymi wersjami nie zawsze jest to możliwe. Przyznam się Wam szczerze, że gdy kupiłam czytnik nie mogłam się przez dłuższy czas przekonać do tej wersji książki. Miałam kilka podejść zanim naprawdę mi ebooki „siadły”. Z audiobookami mam trochę love-hate relationship i ciągle się do tej wersji książki przekonuję. Słuchałam ich dość często gdy pieszo chodziłam do pracy, ale odkąd ją zmieniłam nie słucham żadnego. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mimo wszystko na dłuższą metę wygrywa zdecydowanie papier. Czytnik to w dalszym ciągu jednak ekran a ten czas staram się ostatnio ograniczać. Hi there 👋   So it’s my birthday week and I thought what better time to introduce myself to you! 🥳   I’m Lorraine, the founder of PomPom Paddock @pompompaddock . Having only launched PPP in November 2019, I wanted to share with you a little about me and why I set out on this wonderful journey that is PomPom ☺️   We are a family owned Aussie business, proudly manufacturing all of our products here in Australia. My passion for the humble cauliflower was inspired by my daughters love for my home-made cauliflower pizza bases. After A LOT of time consumed grating and cleaning the mess made, I set out to solve this problem by creating a more convenient, simpler way to indulge without the guilt and of course with the nutrients! Pursuing my passion meant I decided to embark on my own journey which took me out of my executive role in a corporate life I had for 18 yrs and in to the life of an entrepreneur in a new industry. Luckily, I did have a taste of what was to come as I had recently worked with a leading international start-up school, d.school at Stanford University during my corporate time. This really helped ease the transition in to starting up my own venture! I’m a strong believer in surrounding myself with people that are like-minded, have different skill sets to mine and share my drive + positive energy. So I am grateful to have worked with the same group of talented people for over 2 years to perfect our signature @pompompaddock Cauliflower Flour Mix. This is a story I will share with you later! Hi there! Today I changed my handle. So along with a change, here’s 10 random things about me so you can get to know @your.neighborhood.dietitian just a little better. Come say hi and let me know if we have anything in common! 1. My day job is working as an outpatient clinical dietitian for a hospital. Every day looks different, I’m rarely ever bored, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with and learning from thousands of wonderful clients over the years. I truly ❤️ my job! 2. I love learning. Yes, huge nerd alert. I can’t stop reading and digging myself deeper into new subjects in my field. I’m currently investing a lot of time in understanding nutrition management for neuroendocrine and pancreatic tumors. The body is miraculous and I always find myself in awe of it. 3. I love food. Duh. I will never take it away from anyone. In fact I invest so much time learning (see above) so that my clients can still love food too no matter what’s going on with their bodies. 4. I don’t have a favorite food...there’s just too many to choose from. But top two meals I’ve ever eaten are 1) a bowl of udon on a trip to Japan and 2) beef Wellington at Hell’s Kitchen in Vegas. 5. I’ve been on an unexpected journey to manage anxiety that developed postpartum. One big help has been medication and I’m not afraid to say that anymore. 6. We’re adopting a kitten this weekend. The kids don’t know yet. I have a feeling the youngest will cry that it’s not a dog 🙈 7. This year marked 17 years of being with my husband. I started am dating him when I was 17. Mind blown 🤯 that literally half my life has been spent with the same person. 8. I’m super excited about the fall garden. If all goes as planned I shouldn’t have to buy salad greens all fall/winter long. If it fails, then I quit. 9. Last month I started watching Law and Order: SVU from the beginning. Like brand new Stabler and Benson baby cops beginning. I’m about 100 episodes into the 434 episodes. I don’t wanna brag or anything but I’m pretty sure I can solve any sexually based crime now. 10. Like many of my white maker and creator peers – I went silent to clear the air wave to make room for the important conversations about race and the change that need to happen in our society. I have been listening and learning and discovered many new accounts to follow - finding inspiration in so many new people. I’ve a list of podcasts, books and Instagram accounts that have helped frame what we are facing & and importantly what to *do*. DM me for a longer list if you want some ideas... Here are my highlights: I’ve committed to a monthly payment to @RealRentDuwamish – if you live in Seattle I encourage you to consider if this feels right for you. Ive supported @wwconverge who are black owned citizen reporting – and if you don’t know them and live in Seattle – you are missing the frontlines stories. Im also seeking out and supporting BIOPC small business in Seattle because they matter to me including @thatbrowngirlcooks -who’s motto #everybodygottaeat offers free restaurant quality meals on Wed & Saturdays, and @sugarpillseattle who I think of a Seattle’s very own Fairy Godmother with an apothecary & goodies shop in Cap Hill – which if you don’t know you want to. Know your passions, find your lane, and do good there. Personally, I will continue to do my own race work, and encourage you to do yours. At the same time, I miss you guys – and want to go back to sharing my work. I often bang on about being a designer and not an artist’s…which means *your* input matters. Good design doesn’t happen in a vacuum. So please say hi! Here’s me rocking a mask, and some gray hair too. I’ve not had my blond topped up since early March – and my true colours are starting to show. I also bought a pair of crocs… which I promise are just for SUPing and camping! (but shhhh I haven’t told my London or NYC friends for fear that is one step too far.)
