Involving them deciding the when/where/how helps.    ✔️Chatting when side by side instead of face to face came up a lot. This makes sense.     ✔️I heard this great advice about checking in recently. Ask if the person wants to vent or wants advice before jumping in with your thoughts.    ✔️Seems to me if I had to pick one family skill that I hear is most helpful towards getting through this pandemic (and beyond) its communication. The good thing is that communication skills can be practiced & improved and if you are really struggling therapy can help. Yup. 🙄⁣ ⁣ IBS is sometimes a label we get slapped with when they can’t figure out what’s really wrong with our digestion. Regardless, there are many things we can do on our end to prevent flare ups and take better care of our little tum tums 🙌⁣ ⁣ MY TOP GUT HEALTH TIPS:⁣ 🚩MIX UP YOUR DIET: Do you tend to eat the same things often? Yeah, that’s gonna be a “nah” for your gut, bro. See, your gut bacteria thrive off diversity and want to munch on allllll different kinds of things. So, make sure you’re getting in a wide variety of different foods all the time⁣ 🚩ALL HAIL FIBER: The average American’s fiber intake is pitifully low. How’s yours, eh?! I recommend doing a little tracking on the app My Fitness Pal and see where you end up after a few days. I recommend at least 35 grams of the good stuff PER DAY⁣ 🚩PROBIOTIC POWER: Probiotics are powerhouses when it comes to your digestion! A little goes a long way, so don’t think you have to go swimming a bowl of kimchi. My parents escaped the communist regime in Cuba in 1979. At that time, my father was in medical school. When the opportunity presented to escape the country, there wasn’t a hint of hesitation. There was no freedom of speech. In fact, you’d be incarcerated or killed if you spoke out against Castro. No chance to escape poverty unless you sided with the oppressive Marxist regime. Everything was left behind, not that there was much anyway. There was zero opportunity for success and freedom there for him and my mother. The opportunity to study medicine after arriving in the US did not exist. Putting food on the table was the only priority after arriving in a country not speaking the language and with $5 in his pocket. Coming to the US was the greatest opportunity for my parents. My father did not mind hustling by painting houses, cutting grass, to eventually becoming a roofing contractor. Those are all things he can control. He did the jobs no one else wanted to do. He was hungry. He had a family to feed. He didn’t believe in handouts. He eventually owned and operated his own Roofing company without any sort of business training. Being a roofer in the hot Miami sun was a far cry from being a physician in the eyes of many, but he taught me that it was far more important to be able to control your own outcomes. He did not allow for people who were racist against Cubans and immigrants to even remotely weigh on my family. There were far more loving and caring good Americans than the opposite. No matter what, the opportunities in this country were greater than in the mother land. Buttheads will always try to bring you down. I sympathize for those ignorant souls. This isn’t meant to be a political statement but rather insight as to why I’m wired the way I’m wired. Why I don’t stop pushing. People frequently want to know more about me. I’d rather share a taste of what made me who I am today: my parents. I have learned much from their lives and struggles. Much ❤. - @eddyjoemd on Instagram

I have a love-hate relationship with Instagram. I love that it’s a place to connect with my community; I hate that there are literally people behind the scenes trying to figure out how to manipulate our brains into spending more and more time on this platform.

Ten years ago, I learned about something called The Compound Effect. In a nutshell, it’s how making small, seemingly insignificant choices everyday can lead to tremendous success over time. If you studied your craft for 26.5 minutes a day, everyday, that’s 13.25 hours a month and 159 hours a year. That comes out to the equivalent of almost FOUR 40-hour work weeks of you becoming better at what you do!

Over a two year period, that’s 318 hours. Imagine having spent that many hours improving yourself? How much more valuable would you become in the marketplace or in your workplace? How many clients and customers would be beating down your door willing to pay for your expertise? How much better would you feel about yourself?

You can do that. And the investment is only 26.5 minutes a day, everyday. If you don’t have time for that, but you DO have 53 minutes to spend on IG, I encourage you to re-examine your priorities in life. You have the time. It’s just a question of what you’re willing to do with it.
