When you try for something difficult, that’s often when your “stuff” will show up. This presents a great opportunity to ask yourself some questions. Whats showing up in this moment?Frustration? Joy? Excitement? Suffering? The pose you choose to practice is irrelevant, what you discover in the process is what’s important. What are you discovering?⁠ ➖⁠ 🤸‍♀️Depending upon how flexible/how much active compression you have, you will have to set up further/closer to the wall. I set up about a foot away from the wall or so. Step your feet just a tiny bit wider than your hands to start and walk your feet back against the wall. Let your butt rest against the wall. Come up onto your tip toes lifting your heels as you send your butt up the wall. Try it imagine being a puppet being held up by a string attached to your sacrum.⁠ ➖⁠ Then, plant your palms and protract your upper back, moving your shoulder blades away from the center of your spine. Take a deep inhale and as you exhale press into your palms, straighten your arms completely, engage your abs and slide your butt up the wall as you reach your legs out to the sides of the room. The more You squeeze your quads and reach through your toes the easier it will be to get your legs to do what you want them to, so think tight, firm thighs and active feet the whole time!⁠ ➖⁠ Bring your legs up and together and then externally rotating from the hips slowly lower your legs down as far as you can. When you feel like you can’t lower any further without coming down, go back up.⁠ ➖⁠ 2. Over the past few days, I’ve been struggling and having dealt with mental health problems for a long time, I’ve learnt to recognise the signs that I’m finding things harder than usual. I can’t really pinpoint what’s wrong, I just don’t feel right. I’ve been finding it hard to get up in the mornings, I’ve had panic attacks (something I haven’t experienced in months), my thoughts have felt completely uncontrollable. Save and remember in your next class! - How many of you feel more like the third column then the first? When we move into forward folds, down dogs or any hamstring stretch really we automatically assume we MUST have our legs straight to stretch. But did you know when your folding forward it’s lengthening so much much then your hamstrings. Your whole posterior chain is lengthening to create hip flexion in these positions, which means think less about straightening your legs and more about lengthening the whole of your back line. If keeping your legs straight causes your back to round heavily and stops efficient flexion at the hip, then bend those knees to lessen the tension in the back line and allow more ability to tilt your pelvis forward - ergo hip flexion. Now don’t just bend your legs and chill - we are still TRYING to straighten the legs, but keep them bent to a point where you can focus on keeping a length through your back, opening your shoulders in down dog and staying engaged into your deep abdominals to aid your pelvic stability. - @aurorabowkett on Instagram

🎀 Twisted Bow 🎀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This pose always confused me as it’s looks like a tangle of limbs 😂 but what helped was realising that it’s not really much of a Bow Pose at all. You don’t start on your belly and it doesn’t feel much like Bow when you get their either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope the steps help if you’d like to give this a try. Note that I start with my bum out behind me - not lying in a straight line. The balance becomes tricky as the legs lift so this gives you a bit more balancing ability. Doing squats and deadlifts are obviously amazing but we sometimes have a tendency to use one leg a bit more than the other. This will even each leg out a bit more. Try to keep perfect form and aim for the 6-15 rep range. I know many of you embarked on your Yoga journey, practising Yoga during the Circuit Breaker. However, without setting new goals in your new routine, it is easy to lose motivation for self-practice. So are you ready to take your practice to the next level? When learning the front splits, you not only build flexibility but also strengthen your muscles, tendons, and ligaments, especially around your joints! Yoga is also proven to improve your posture and reduce stress. The splits used to be very impossible for me but with a lot of patience, self-practice, and discipline, I finally achieved my front splits, and I believe so can you. Practise this sequence all on the right side first and hold each pose for at least one minute. Focus on deep breathing through your nose and try exhaling longer than your inhalation to deepen your stretch. Then repeat this sequence on your left side. Inhale- arch your back into cow pose to stretch your belly. Exhale- round your back to stretch your spine. 10x in total. 2. Inhale open chest to twist. Exhale- thread arm under to stretch shoulder. 5x on each side. 3. Inhale- open hips in downdog. Exhale- knee to nose to stretch back & strengthen core. 5x on each side. 4. Inhale- lift chest to stretch hamstrings and back. Exhale- grab ankles and fold forward. 5x and hold the last one for 10 deep breaths. 5. Inhale- grab ankles and squat. Exhale- lift hips up, turn feet forward and pull torso to thighs to stretch hamstrings and lower back. 10x. 6.
