I have never, not once in my life, had a phobia. Until now. And I’m gonna be honest, I never understood them, I always thought “get over it, it’s just a spider, etc. walk away.” Until l, of course myself, became severely claustrophobic. To the point my entire body broke out in sweat and I was drenched within 30 seconds and my face looked like a very ripe tomato...and I almost passed out while trying on my finished spacesuit and helmet for the first time. It is not just mental, it is very physical. BUT, our mental minds do control a lot, if not everything. After six months, I was not able to overcome my claustrophobia, but I was able to come to a type of meeting of the minds with it. When we calm our minds and sit with the fear, NOT try and push it away, we can sit with it in a different way, that makes it “doable”. Playing an astronaut in AWAY made me push into the sharp edges in a way I never thought it would. This was such an important lesson for me...in so many ways. I hope that in sharing this you might feel less alone in whatever it is that takes over your mind and therefore body. **UPDATE: The launch was scrubbed and will be rescheduled.** ORIGINAL POST: Technologies to enable exact and soft landings on the Moon and other worlds will fly on Blue Origin’s next New Shepard suborbital rocket launch, currently targeted for 11:00 a.m. EDT Thursday, Sept. 24. The company’s live launch webcast will start at 10:30 a.m. and air on NASA Television and the agency’s website. The rockets flight path is relevant to lunar landings, providing a unique opportunity to mature sensors and algorithms for potential use on Artemis missions. NASA Langleys navigation Doppler lidar technology will be the second sensor system to fire up during the flight test. The new sensor uses a laser to enable precise soft landings on the Moon and Mars. Navigation Doppler lidar sends laser beams to the surface and detects the reflected returns to determine the lander’s velocity and altitude. The data from this test will let the team model how it will function during lunar landing and how it is affected by a planet’s atmosphere – in this case, Earth’s. 🔗 Link in bio for how to watch the flight test. The H3 is equipped with a lot of antennas which play a key role in connecting communications between the ground and the rocket. Through these antennas, ground controllers check the flight condition and safety. During 2017 to 2019, we conducted performance tests of various types of antennas to be installed in the H3 at the Radiowave Test Facility of the Tsukuba Space Center. CFM International received orders and commitments for a total of 2,148 engines in 2019 at a value of more than $30.7 billion U.S. at list price, including 180 CFM56 engines (commercial, military and spares) and 1,968 LEAP engines (including spares). Since the first LEAP engine orders in 2011, CFM has garnered more than 19,010 total installed and spare engine orders and commitments through December 2019 at a value of more than $275 billion U.S. at list price. The company also signed long-term Rate Per Flight Hour (RPFH) agreements with airlines to support their LEAP engine fleet operations. A 16-year-old girl from Amritsar recently received an invitation from NASA after she topped the International Space Olympiad (ISO) 2020. Hissaa, who is a class X student of DAV Public School, got invited to visit the John F Kennedy Space Centre in the US as she came first in the senior category of ISO. According to The Tribune, the Amritsar resident scored 78.75 marks collectively in the preliminary, intermediate and final test conducted by the International Space Olympiad.
