We are excited to announce that the Jordan Schnitzer Family Foundation has acquired Judy Chicagos incredible and expansive print archive. The collection of over 100 prints and 200 studies and drawings spans her entire six-decade career and illustrates the many ways that she has pushed the boundaries of numerous print technologies. . Upon acquiring the archive, Schnitzer has said, Since I started our print and multiples collection in 1995, it has been very rewarding to have had over 200 exhibitions nationally of the major post-World-War II and contemporary artists. The decision of Judy Chicago, the most important feminist artist of our time, to add her prints to our collection is very exciting! We will honor her career with exhibitions, publications, and most importantly, helping new audiences understand her remarkable impact on all of our lives. . Yes, we are an Aussie family, currently living in NYC for work and running The Clubhouse in Hepburn Springs with our friends at @daylesford.getaways... but what has it really been like living in the epicentre of the 2020 pandemic? ⁣ ⁣ It’s tough. But in our very small bubble we haven’t seen much of what you’ve perhaps seen on the news. For over two months we rarely left our house and if we did it was for a walk around the block or groceries. ⁣ ⁣ This trip to Prospect Park was like a dream! A perfectly warm spring day and with the greenest scenario and for us, it was a welcome break from Groundhog Day. A 7 year old at home with strange remote learning, a 2 year old with a vibrant and energetic personality... and two tired adults with little clues to make any plans.⁣ ⁣ But we’re safe and healthy and one of us has job security for now. Greeting this new season with readiness and wondering. Does anyone else struggle with labels? I’m having a hard time defining this journey lately. Things I know happen when I don’t drink: -I wake up with less regret in the morning -I sleep better through the night -in general, I’m more present with my surroundings -in general, I engage in more active self-care Things I don’t know about drinking: -will I be able to not drink forever? -how do I identify within the sober/non-drinking community? -where is my story reflected? I don’t identify as an alcoholic or an addict. The people around me and even myself have a hard time identifying my drinking as problematic. And yet, I want to quit. And yet, I’m afraid of generational patterns showing up in my relationship with alcohol. So I’m filled with wonderings right now. Meditation was always something that I “should do” but never did consistently. Until #covid19 closed my place of work, completely interrupted my schedule, my training and my plans. . I spent the first couple of weeks at home barely staving off the anxiety. It felt overwhelming to even talk about it. I couldn’t sleep. I could barely work out and when I did it felt off, weak, tired. . I HAD to start a regular meditation practice. I didn’t have a choice. This person wasn’t me, wasn’t anyone that I recognized. Slowly, but surely, I built back in the recovery habits that I needed. I started with just two minutes of deep breathing in the mornings. Then, I started taking a couple of minutes to breathe deeply in between my virtual sessions. Shortly after, I found myself tuning in to calming music in the morning in addition to the deep breathing. I started lifting weights again. I started sleeping better. I found more things to talk about and fewer obsessive, anxiety-ridden thoughts. . Why am I telling you this? I want to share my experience with you. I’ve put together a 7-day introduction to stress relief course that I’m calling the “Power of Pausing” and I want you to join me in taking some time to pause, to breathe, to recover. . Решила немного написать про наш отпуск. Проехали мы больше 5000 км за 2 недели. Даже попали туда куда не планировали, а именно на море, в Казань и в Нижний Новгород. Путешествия на машине прекрасны своей мобильностью, правда после таких трипов все больше и больше хочется машинку побольше. Примерно накидала наш путь в карусели. Что узнали наши дети нового за время путешествия: - в России есть море в котором можно купаться😂 до этого они никогда не купались в чёрном море. - что Чёрное море совсем не чёрное - в Калмыкии по дороге ходят волки и очень много саранчи, лучше из машины не выходить - Родина мать в Волгограде это оооочень большой памятник и очень красивый - волгоградская область это арбузный рай Путешествовать на машине не сложно. Знаю многие бояться поехать куда то с детьми даже 100-200 км от Москвы их пугают. Но стоит только один раз попробовать и вам понравится. Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to be a nomad. The adventures and stories of Indiana Jones, Jack Kerouac, Hiram Bingham, Paul Theroux, Minnie Vuatrin, Heinrich Harrer, Jack London, David Livingstone, and even Jules Verne, and so many more, cluttered my mind from a young age, with the wonders and mysteries of the world, and the drive to go explore and leave no stone unturned. I embarked on that dream a few years ago. I felt better than ever; I had finally found myself and my calling. I was so happy. That came to an abrupt end this spring. Like everyone, this ghastly ‘new normal’ has been uncomfortable to get used to, mostly because of the uncertainty of the future, the malaise of constant monotony and also, because we are creatures of habit, and have all been forced to drastically change our every routine. That being said, we are creatures that can adapt. I was thrown off course and onto another. These days my finger nails are full of dirt, my legs and arms are all scratched up from the tangled forest that I am determined to untangle. I see no museums, and haven’t been to a cafe in 6 months. I have traded planes for questionably safe boats. I have (unwillingly) traded the life of living out of hotels and being served breakfast every day, for a life in a rustic cabin in a forest. This wasn’t my primary dream, but it’s always been a dream. If this is the new norm, than so be it. We will all make the most of it. And we will THRIVE. I have found my way to thrive, and that is to be caretaker to a magical little teardrop of an island in the middle of a lake in the middle of nowhere. I never really wanted a house, but now I’ve found home; Herbert Point. I intend to make Herbert Point (named after my beloved pup) into a retreat that can be shared with other nature lovers. I have created a new account to showcase the evolution of this project ( @herbertpoint ) though I’m not sure how much I will share, as social media / instagram has become such a negative and toxic place. We would have to say City Orchard Houston’s first cidery is a perfect place to catch a game or hang on the patio for some nice scenery. Verder zijn er verschillende picknicktafels, schuilhutten en een zitarena. Op verschillende plaatsen liggen takken of houten palen waar kinderen bijvoorbeeld hutten mee kunnen bouwen. En er is zand, veel zand! Er is een deels verharde wandelroute van ongeveer 2km die je langs al deze interessante plekjes leidt. Er is ook een kortere, verharde wandelroute van ongeveer 800m. Langs het pad zijn uit hout gesneden dieren verstopt. Tip: zoek de metalen plaatjes😉 Aan de ingang van het joekelbos kan je langs de kant van de straat parkeren (Waze: Speeltuinstraat, Oudsbergen) en er is een kleine parking voozien.
