That’s why a more productive thing to do when you start to feel worry coming on is to use it as a signal to dig deeper into what it’s really trying to tell you. When you treat worry in the way that it was intended, you’re able to actually get to the root of what it’s trying to bring your attention to and create a plan of actionable steps to help solve your problem. Even if your problem still feels unsolvable when you do this, you’ll find that your relationship to that problem changes. You no longer feel as helpless as you originally did since you now have a much deeper understanding of the situation at hand. And what’s more, you’re also now in a much better position to actually deal with whatever may occur since you’ve put that experience in its proper place and are no longer at the effect of it. When I *just* finished high school and started gaining experience in the field, I felt the need to prove myself after constant misogynistic comments from men in the field environment. I THOUGHT that proving myself as a woman meant doing everything the way men in the industry did things. Denying my femininity, glorifying hostile environments, taking unnecessary risks by asking fewer questions, carrying all the heaviest equipment just to prove that I could. We need to STOP this. HEEEEEY y’all it’s @opk.studio here for my final post of the week! Here is my current workspace that’s always changing depending on what I have on my plate 🥯 Today I’ll be in the stories serving up fiber art realness, sharing some stuff that inspires me, probably introducing you to my cat, answering questions, and who knows what else! 🤠 Before I go I just wanted to share some real talk about this here app. Anyone else have a love-hate relationship with social media? On the one hand I’m grateful for all the amazing people and opportunities it’s brought into my life (like the fiber art community and this takeover!) but it can also feel like a toxic time suck. Don’t even! get me started! on the algorithm!!! With that being said, recently I’ve been trying to learn to use instagram more consciously for my business and noticing the ways I let it influence me. I don’t necessarily enjoy relying on an app to promote myself and my work BUT sometimes this platform is simply just a reminder of how many amazing artists, weirdos, makers and sHakers exist together in this world. When I can resist the urge to compare or judge during the endless scroll, I’m able to focus on the good: people educating others, being brave, vulnerable and creative, finding themselves, telling their stories, making art and generally just doing the damn thing. also the memes! There are still several projects to be done and the perimeter of the room is a mess, but I’m well on my way to the sewing room of my dreams! The previous owners also used this room for their passion—wine. All the shelves were custom for their collection, and the windows and vents were boxed off to control the humidity. We removed most of the shelving, replaced the doors, uncovered those vents and windows, removed wood paneling, replaced the flooring, and we’ve still got room to go. Day 2 of this new style of schooling (which currently consists of two 30-min virtual sessions per day), and I’ve noticed a few things: 1. I am not patient. 2. I miss moments of peace and quiet. 3. Paxton is super patient. And awesome. And although, I miss those 7 hours per day where I can focus on work and running, I thoroughly enjoy getting to spend more time with him. This is certainly not how I envisioned my working/parenting life, but as I find myself in this new stay-at-home situation, I’m trying to be positive (though it’s a struggle). Being an “entrepreneur” can be lonely and confusing. Especially at this stage, very early in the business and with so much learning and development still ahead, it’s easy to be filled with doubt. I see friends living their lives, moving up the ladder in their respective lines of work, making clear professional progress, and enjoying well earned validation for it. I see them making good money while every dime my partners and I have stays in the business. I face friends and family, wondering if you really have something going on or are just too lazy or uninventive to go get a real job. I wonder it myself, am I lazy? Am I crazy? Am I actually spending my time wisely? Is this foolish? Have I surrendered the opportunity of a conventional but successful career out of naïveté? The jury is still out on these questions. I used to see people at the finish line 🏁 and romanticize where they were and felt like those types of accomplishments were unattainable. Little did I know that in a 10 step race they were starting from step 7 and had a map🗺 that guided them the last 3 steps. I’ve now learned that all advice isn’t applicable in the way it’s offered but I can still use it to leap frog in my journey (thanks @nathaliemolinanino ) Next time someone gives you advice, press a little more to understand what “step” they started in, because some of us are coming from a place where we didn’t even know certain paths or maps existed 🤷🏻♀️(and that’s ok, because once we know we tell EVERYONE😉) - @girlchangetheworld on Instagram

I have had the most exciting day today. I interviewed 8 outstanding candidates, to become health and wellbeing coaches to be part of my general practice team. When I started my lifestyle medicine journey I wasnt quite sure how I would end up using it professionally. All I knew was the community of people I had found all shared the same views as me, improving people’s health is not about telling them what to do, its about giving individuals the skills, knowledge and support to allow them to make decisions for themselves. This leads to long lasting meaningful change and makes people feel better. I am so fortunate I work with similar minded people who are ready to invest money in this principle. I’ve managed to use my passion to develop a role as a clinical lead, working alongside public health, the local authority,and local community groups to revamp the way we look at health. I can not wait to get these guys into their roles and see what we can accomplish together!!
