This is Ernest. He’s a four-time World Champion in the Footprint-Following Games, which are held yearly in the Czech Republic. Basically it is exactly what you’d expect. The contestants line up and see who can follow the most footprints. There are shoes, bare feet, and also various animals. The winning prize is that you are allowed to leave with your life. So that means that Ernest practices constantly year-round, because if he doesn’t win his FIFTH world championship, it will be his last. Ernest is always enlisting me to help set up challenging footprints for him to practice with. And to be honest, it’s kind of a drag. He’s not that fun to be around because all he cares about is footprints. I mean he’s a nice guy in those rare moments that he takes a break from the footprints and asks about my day. But if he doesn’t win next year…I will be kind of relieved. Решила немного написать про наш отпуск. Проехали мы больше 5000 км за 2 недели. Даже попали туда куда не планировали, а именно на море, в Казань и в Нижний Новгород. Путешествия на машине прекрасны своей мобильностью, правда после таких трипов все больше и больше хочется машинку побольше. Примерно накидала наш путь в карусели. Что узнали наши дети нового за время путешествия: - в России есть море в котором можно купаться😂 до этого они никогда не купались в чёрном море. - что Чёрное море совсем не чёрное - в Калмыкии по дороге ходят волки и очень много саранчи, лучше из машины не выходить - Родина мать в Волгограде это оооочень большой памятник и очень красивый - волгоградская область это арбузный рай Путешествовать на машине не сложно. Знаю многие бояться поехать куда то с детьми даже 100-200 км от Москвы их пугают. Но стоит только один раз попробовать и вам понравится. Thank you to everyone who has reached out from near and far to check on us. I was EXTREMELY fortunate. Despite Laura blowing rain through the tiniest cracks into my home and distillery and blowing some of my shingles and vents off, I feel extremely lucky. Same for my truck...got a few new whammies in the side but it runs and drives. Please pray for everyone that is living through this nightmare. It’s going to be a looooong time before things resemble anything normal. For those that have returned home, PLEASE be more careful than you think you should be. And you should use extreme caution driving around. If you come to ANY INTERSECTION, SLOW DOWN AND STOP. I was almost hit several times by people blowing through 4 way stops, etc. And another genius flew by me going 50+ WHILE I WAS CAREFULLY DRIVING UNDER A DOWN POWER LINE. Luckily, the line skipped off the top of the car but it could have easily caught them and then hit me. People can’t be replaced. At the opening of the new Banks Reserve playground in Mt Lawley. It’s a nature based playground featuring a fort wrapped around a beautiful, big, shady tree. There are picnic tables and bbqs including a huge long table perfect for parties. Toilets just near the river. There is also a basketball hoop and a small scoot/skate area. There is still a large grass area for kicking the footy and located right on the river. The park is only about 5 minutes from the city. CXA ON VIEW: This Is How It Ends - Matthew Porter We are pleased to announce Danziger Gallerys first solo exhibition of works by Matthew Porter (@__matthewporter__ ) – an installation of 84 prints titled “This Is How It Ends”. As with much of Porter’s work, the accumulation of images creates an experience of cinematic romanticism tempered by the realities of our time and an underlying mood of concern. A naturally gifted image maker, the light and color of Porter’s pictures, often shot at dusk in and around New York and Los Angeles, create beautiful images while the subject of many of the pictures – cages, barriers, people on phones – convey the anxiety of life in the COVID era we live in. Porter’s pictures – which mix fact and fiction - are at times amalgamations of location shots and studio shots to create the image Porter wants. However the aim of the work is to create a mood that is as truthful to reality as the “sunshine noir” that Porter describes allows. •SUMMER CAMP • When we heard our friends at @callevaoutdoors had restructured their summer camps to meet the covid safety requirements we literally squealed with excitement! There have been so many parts of our lives that have changed throughout lock down that we were so excited for some semblance of normal. For those of you who have never experienced the magic that is Calleva, I will do my best to capture it. Our 7 year old attended the Explorer Farm Camp last week and loved it! Explorer Farm Camp is for kids ages 6-8 offering an abundance of outdoor adventures. Activities include Growing Green, Archery, Survival Skills, Creek fun, Climbing, Challenge Course, & Canoeing. Part of what makes camp at Calleva so magical is that the activities are simple and engaging. With so many things closed and changed, Calleva is allowing children to simply be outdoors exploring and enjoying nature. We never doubted for one second that our daughter was safe while at camp. Calleva has taken the covid regulations seriously and campers are separated into groups with counselors for the week with no sharing of vehicles, locations or equipment. When they are around others, at drop off and pick up, they all wear masks. There are health screenings and everyone’s temps are checked before gettin on the bus or out of the car in the morning. Calleva has buses that pickup at sites around the area for most programs which makes camp even easier! Calleva isn’t just for little kids. The Riley’s Sampler is a popular camp option for kids ages 8-14 offering SUP, Kayaking, Canoeing, Adventure Island, Duckies, Tubing and C&O Adventures. Hoge metalen constructies, omgebouwde tankwagens, klimbuizen, schommels, een deathride van 25 meter en nog veel meer! Er zijn sanitaire voorzieningen en tot 27 september kan je op woensdag, zaterdag en zondagnamiddag iets drinken in de Heldenbar uitgebaat door Tiense verenigingen. Er is ook nog een tweede speeltuin en een peuterspeeltuin. 😷 Er wordt gevraagd om afstand te houden. Wanneer je drinken haalt in de Heldenbar is een mondmasker verplicht.
