i am at a loss for words. today, march 16th, 2020, we lost softball. i will be back. i understand the decisions that were made here. but dang, what a team. what a year. (albeit a short one.) this year, we were only able to play 14 games. we battled through rain. heck, march 11th was the first time we were able to play on our own field. we didn’t even get to play the season opener on our own field. that one stung, but i didn’t take it for granted because i was able to play softball. today, for the first time, i felt helpless. i feel for the seniors, as they don’t even get to complete their last season of softball. it’s been a rough 5 days, but we’re gonna be alright; we’re gonna make it. it’s just gonna take time to find normal again. for the remainder of the semester, i will probably find myself down at the field, working, trying to get my mind off of things. probably going to be much needed at times. i’ve never done this before. i’ve never had this happen to me. this honestly still feels like a bad dream. despite everything, i am proud of this team. we were clicking. we were coming together. we were gonna go far. this year felt different for sure. i don’t know why, but it just... did. i’m sad it had to end this way, but i feel as if there’s a reason for everything. whether we like it or not, there is a reason. as always, go sports teams, go barons, and remember DHO — your fav left fielder, mj - @parris_morgan0101 on Instagram

Homecoming looks a little different this year! Our students are missing out on pep assemblies, formal dances, senior nights and even actual sporting events at some schools. My heart breaks for all my seniors that are not able to participate in these activities and enjoy their final year of high school to the fullest! I planned out this fun “SCHOOL SPIRIT” photo shoot before I even knew any of this was going to happen. I encouraged my senior models to wear their school colors and bring it...just like they would for “Battle of the Bridges” and “Golden Throne”...because sadly, these events are not able to happen this year. One of these schools is in Idaho and one is in Washington. Even though we are only a river apart...we have different state mandates and different school schedules due to Covid. The first day of school for our first grader 💙😭🥳 I was in tears as I waved goodbye from the carpool line this morning, but she was excited + ready to meet her teacher + new classmates. Isla told me when she got in the car that her nice teacher’s favorite animal is a squirrel [“Isn’t that lucky? They’re everywhere!”], that she kept forgetting she was even wearing a mask, that she already loved all her friends in class + that recess was “so super short”! We thought we had bid Isla’s school farewell on the last day in the spring, but our delay in moving to Austin has meant one more year at this place we love so much. This year has been one to remember. I’ve been through things this year I never imagined. I have learned the meaning of self worth and self love. I have so much worth despite all the mistakes I’ve made along the way. I know that Heavenly Father loves me so much. I can’t wait for the day where I can just hug the savior so tight and have tears coming down my face. He knows me perfectly and understands exactly what I’ve gone through. He knows what everyones going through. You never know what’s happening in someone’s life so it’s soooo important to love everyone. I’m so very grateful for the amazing people in my life who will always be there for me. My parents are so amazing and I love them so much. And for my sisters I am so very blessed to be able to have four best friends for life who will always love me and are always down to go on adventures and be my workout buddies. And thank you to each one of you who has taught me about life and has shown me such kindness and love. Also I just am devastated for all of the spring sport seniors. I missed playing softball my last year. And when I heard the news I couldn’t believe what was happening. I just miss my amazing team and coaches. They seriously are a family. The organizations that I’m a part of have truly given me a sense of belonging as a Tiger. Coming from out of state, I started my Clemson network from the ground up and have continued to build connections and strengthen my South Carolina family. Here’s a glimpse into some of my experiences: Pics 1-3: @clemsonadpi has given me more sisters than I ever could’ve imagined. Our focus on sisterhood, service, and scholarship pushes me to consistently be the best version of myself. Pics 4-5: @clemsonmiracle, supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, is an org that inspires me to give back in as many ways as I can. From fundraising at Dance Marathon to meeting the miracle kids, I know that CM will always put a smile on my face. Pics 6-7: @clemsonspiro has connected me with so many incredible opportunities here at Clemson University. My favorite experience was traveling to Helsinki, Finland to attend SLUSH, an entrepreneurial conference, with 5 other Clemson students, Dr. Hannon, and Mr. Frank Blake. Pic 8: @clemsonhonors shaped my freshman year at Clemson through living in Honors College housing. I met so many bright students, forged long lasting friendships, and made countless memories in Core D floor 3. One month ago I eagerly awaited the start of my masters program and today would have been orientation day. Yet here I am saying goodbye to ASU, for now, to pursue a big girl job. My future started on a new trajectory when I took a leap of faith and unenrolled from grad school to continue working. Although this was not apart of my plan, I feel so at peace and excited for this new time in my life. I am learning that change is good, moving on is good, and growing is important. I am so excited to finally be able to say I have been accepted into the Lee University School of Nursing to earn my BSN!! Two years ago I was in Kenya on a missions trip and I wrote in my journal I felt that God would use that trip to show me my purpose in life. I had never considered nursing prior to the trip, but as soon as I got back I changed my major and became really invested in my academics. If you don’t know me I am a very organized person that obsesses over keeping planners, schedules and budgets, and I had my mind set that I wanted to get into nursing school my first time applying. When I received a letter explaining that I hadn’t gotten in I took it really hard. I felt like I had failed and I felt like God had led me really far from my comfort zone just to abandon me. It was hard for me to understand why God’s timeline wasn’t matching up with the one I had set for myself, and I didn’t want to keep trying. The second time I applied I once again got rejected and became really doubtful that God had any sort of plan for me. I had spent two years taking classes directed towards a career in nursing and had a really competitive GPA, but remained in a place of uncertainty for my future.... Today I have officially been accepted into the nursing program at Lee University and I am so grateful! I thought the plan I had for myself was good, but as always God’s plan was so much better! I’m so thankful for my friends and family that have been so supportive of me through this period of growth and @sanders.jr for being my rock through it all and never losing faith that I have the ability to reach my goals. I’m also so ridiculously thankful for the dancers and staff of @sceniccitydance for being a light in my life despite the stress I have faced for the past two years, and I’m so thankful that being accepted into Lee’s program gives me the opportunity to continue teaching such amazing girls.
