- I had accepted a contract in career mode to build a satellite to an equatorial orbit. Turns out, I made a Mangalyaan! (Mars Orbiter Mission of India) Sadly, Its too weak to go to Duna and Too light to be launched on a PSLV.

A fleet of well over 200 Chinese fishing vessels have been stationed in the waters just off the Galapagos for a number of weeks now. However, what is currently being witnessed is not a new phenomenon. Similar fleets, although often not as large, have visited the Galapagos in the past. Although the fleet is legally, and officially, targeting squid and tuna in international waters, there are undoubtedly, and possibly intentionally, going to be huge numbers of other bycatch species effected. One of the fleets mother-ships was found to have hundreds of tonnes of illegally caught sharks on board in 2017. Recently, the Chinese government have announced it will start a three month fishing ban in the region...but not until September... A dead 3m shark was pulled in today at Austinmer after a run in with a shark net. Possibly one of our visitors heading out with a belly full of whale. The reality is that despite no proven facts that they actually protect humans in the water..... - in 7 years there’s been 33 whale interactions with nets - 16 times more non target species are caught than dangerous sharks - 94% of the animals caught are non target species - This includes endangered and critically endangered sharks and turtles People who spend a lot of time in the water will tell you they see a lot of sharks and they don’t stay on their side of the nets. The fatal attack on the Gold Coast last week saw a Great White sail past the net and the baited drum lines. - This is an image of the Great Arctic Storm of 2012. It formed over the Arctic Sea on August 2nd and dissipated on August 14th. It is the strongest Arctic summer storm ever recorded, with wind speeds comparable to that of a category 1 hurricane.

New winds are blowing off the coast of Yorkshire, where @gerenewableenergy just signed a deal to provide 190 Haliade-X 13 MW units for the first two phases of the Dogger Bank wind farm. In the western part of it, the salt flats, created by the evaporation of #saltlake, are spreading. Happy 50th Earth Day! During this pandemic, the world has been put on hold. And while economies are crashing, Earth is thriving. Los Angeles is recording the cleanest air it has seen in 40 years. Carbon monoxide emissions are down 50% in New York. The canals of Venice are crystal clear and jellyfish have been spotted swimming in them. The skies of Delhi, a city normally swallowed by thick fumes and industrial exhaust, are blue during the day, and shine bright with stars at night. In Nairobi, Mount Kenya can now suddenly be seen towering 85 miles away. The global shutdown has given us a glimpse at a greener, cleaner future for our planet. While air quality will likely decrease once we return to normal life, these changes could encourage environmental regulations and policies that could lead to cleaner air in the long term. We need to recreate our society in a way that dramatically reduces emissions, and rebuild a world that is much more sustainable. Milan is transforming 35km of its roads to cut air pollution and congestion. Paris is spending €300 million on 650km of bike paths designed for post-pandemic life. We have to reimagine cities.
