Boys only understand two things....the fist 👊 and the boot 🥾 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ Boys learn so much differently than girls. Harper required much more verbal coaching and positive reinforcement. Once it started clicking she started to enjoy it more. If I didn’t say she was good or she knew she wasn’t doing good she wanted to quit or throw a fit. With Oak, not really giving him any coaching (other than wait until my hand is out of the way). Just letting him swing and figure out what works best for him naturally. He’s loved hitting the shit out of things 🤣. The only cue is “swing hard” right now. He’s only 3 and I’ve seen videos of other kids his age who take crazy hacks and drop bombs 💣 But if it’s one thing I learned as a coach/athlete, being good early on is only part of the equation. I’ve seen to many young athletes latch onto a sport early on deemed as phenoms or “naturals”. By the time they get to high school they are usually either burnt out, not having fun anymore (the game is no longer stimulating) or they are hurt/limited on ability because they only played one sport their whole life. They did not develop other basic athletic qualities, movement patterns, etc.... ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ The moral of the lesson here is....who cares how good your kid is right now. Let them play, let them have fun, let them figure it out on their own. Go with the flow. More important to coach them on attitude/behaviors and developing competitive nature. Today, my Daddy and I tried the new plancha as a pizza stone. The set-up was deflector plates, spacers, then the plancha. Dad stretches the northern Dough company dough really well, it was so round. We added mozzarella cheese, chopped chorizo and some oregano and some fresh basil leaves (with a bbq sauce base). The pizza stuck to the plancha even though it was lightly oiled. Daddy finished off the pizza in his bbq. The bottom was a bit burnt, but I like it that way. I think Daddy is coming up with another plan for pizzas on my grill. . After the Ironman Maryland was cancelled due to the #coronavirus, Ben Guerrina took on a solo Ironman to raise money for @PanCAN in honor of his father-in-law battling #pancreaticcancer. Headed back to the office tomorrow. Excited to get back to normal, see my coworkers - but I’m really going to miss these guys. • It hit me hard today. I’ve spent 14+ waking hours/day with my kids for the last 3 months. On a good “normal” week day, I’m lucky if I get 4 hours. • If I put a bean in a jar for ever extra hour I got with them during the lockdown, then starting tomorrow, I took a bean out every hour I was home with them, it would take me 315 “normal” days to empty the jar. The California Department of Public Health issued new guidance for playgrounds and other outdoor recreational facilities. Of course, the public health guidance still applies like Social Distancing and wearing of masks is required for all participants over the age of 2. There will be signage posted at each location. We are all so thankful to open our playgrounds! The new guidance applies to outdoor playgrounds located in parks, campgrounds, and other publicly accessible locations. 🎉 Surprise! 🎉 Playgrounds are opening up in #Poway today! Taking down caution tape at the 16 playgrounds around town is top priority today for our parks maintenance crews. Once that’s done, they’ll get to work on giving them a good cleaning (as it’s been a while!). If you and your little own cannot wait a minute longer to head on out, take a look at the guidance the state is asking everyone to follow. Before the sun even rose, Poway Mayor Steve Vaus was pulling off the tape at Valle Verde park for an impromptu grand opening of the new playground equipment. The new equipment includes swings, which the park didn’t have before, a suspended “boogie board” for developing balance and core strength, and a spider web climber, which is touted for building upper-body strength. The Valle Verde playground, located at the corner of Espola and Valle Verde Roads, was originally built in 1990 and closed for a refresh in December. Although the playground was finished, it’s reopening was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Frankie Pierce Park ————————————————————— Do I dare say I have a new favorite playground?? Here’s why Frankie Pierce Park is possibly my new fave- 1. Scooter friendly (if you haven’t picked up on it yet, Beckett LOVES to scooter), 2. Unique play equipment (slides, turf, climbing structures, spinning things, etc.), 3. In walking distance to food (@cleanjuicegulch, @_mlrose, Starbucks, Publix), 4. 10 min away from my house 🙌🏼, 5. Trains!!!!!!!! We saw 4 trains during our 2 hour hang, 6. I think I just love a new park. So obvi, this place is awesome. We’ve been a few times, and it’s normally not too crowded (a few families here and there). We’ve enjoyed grabbing a smoothie after playing and even bringing dinner from M.L. Rose to the park. Only 👎🏼, there’s not much shade in the mornings, but that cool weather is coming so it will be a perfect spot for a fall hang. Today wasn’t the extremely rainy day we expected...nevertheless yesterday we ran our fancy new finger weeder in the brassica field, got our late round of winter squash cultivated, seeded our last field carrots for the year, and hilled up the final Fall beds ready for planting soon. After an emotionally straining year (late freeze, record spring rain, amazing high demand!, COVID!), we’ve reached the time of the season when we farmers scratch our heads and try to remember why we do this work. It is burn-out season! And in a year like 2020, I’m bracing myself for the next blow that will turn me on my head again. Je kan het bezoekerscentrum van het natuurgebied het Webbekomsbroek ontdekken en als je wil overnachten kan je gebruik maken van de trekkershutten of het camperterrein. Van 1 mei tot 15 september kan je zwemmen in het openluchtzwembad dat bestaat uit meerdere zwembaden, glijbanen, een springtoren en een waterspeeltuin. Gedurende de openingsperiode van het openluchtzwembad is de inkom betalend maar tijdens de andere maanden mag je gratis binnen. 😷 Tot 15 september moet je online een dagticket reserveren. Op verschillende plaatsen is handgel voorzien en er zijn extra waterpunten geplaatst voor het wassen van de handen.
