Despite plans to send humans back to the Moon by the year 2024, very little is known about the effects of space radiation the astronauts will be exposed to on a daily basis while bouncing across the lunar surface. A new study is the first to measure exactly how much radiation humans would be exposed to on a daily basis while exploring the Moon in an effort to find ways to mitigate the effects on human health. Their results found that the Moon has an average daily radiation dose equivalent to 1,369 microsieverts per day, which is about 2.6 times higher than the amount the crew of the @iss is exposed to on a daily basis.
