It’s different for e v e r y o n e. Mines not your typical weight loss story. I struggled. I struggled for a while. I started my fitness journey in 2017. I didn’t feel confident. I had terrible stomach pains and extreme bloating. My gut was destroyed. My energy levels were trash. Metabolism? TRASH. My appetite was so up and down. The constant yo yo dieting. The constant overeating. The constant under eating. It was such a roller coaster for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was pushing weight in the gym and I wasn’t fueling my body. It was calling for help and I had no idea how to help it. I couldn’t feed it. I just wasn’t hungry. Eating breakfast was so hard. I wanted to literally gag. Then some days I got my appetite back and I wanted to eat EVERYTHING. I binged so hard on those days. Fast food, chips, candy. There was no vegetables, no water, NO CONSISTENCY... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And that was the problem guys. I didn’t have consistency. Our body THRIVES off consistency. It loves it. I was eating under 1,000 calories some days and other days I ate 2,000 or more. It was up and down. I plateaued. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When quarantine hit, I cut the bullshit. I invested into myself. Got a nutrition coach. Started to take training seriously. Made sure I paid attention to everything malik was teaching me. I started to track my macros. Im being consistent. Taking rest days. I’m working out 5x a week. I’m drinking a gallon a day. I’m fueling my body w nutritious foods w 1 untracked meal of my choice once a week. Few snacks here and there 😜 cut toxic shit out my life, PUT ME FIRST. I have freedom. I feel so fucking good. Leave in only and let it air dry in a bun. . . 2️⃣On Monday afternoon, I used a spray bottle to wet my hair somewhere between damp and very wet. Brushed through with my @curlkeeper flexy brush. First fitness check post. Pic on the left is today, pic on the right is June 15th, shortly after I started running 2 miles five days a week, pushups daily, and a few crunches here and there. Ive never been one to go to the gym, and usually when I pick up running, I tend to wear my legs out before I see results I want. I decided to keep my mileage low for longevity, and for the simple reason that I dont want to wake up before 5am to get more mileage in before work. Ive found that exercising before work gives me more energy, focus, and strength for a job that requires all of those things. 2016 👉 2020 #wwambassador I was 26 in the picture on the left and at my heaviest (non pregnant) weight of 195ish lbs. I hated every single picture of myself and ALWAYS had my hands, a drink, a person etc in front of me to try to hide my body as much as possible. I immediately untagged every picture of myself because I hated the way I looked. I had no confidence and no self love. Flash forward ⚡️ to January of 2018 I made one of the best decisions of my life and joined @ww for the first time and the last time! I lost 50 lbs in 6-7 months just following the program and living a healthy lifestyle. Then, last year in 2019 I got pregnant with my second child and gained 50+ back. I rejoined #ww as soon as it was safe again (after delivery) and am on my way back to my goal weight (a weight I agreed upon with my doctor that makes sense for me 😊). I’ve wanted to quit so many times. It’s hard. It’s not quick and it’s not a fast fix. **warning long post ahead ⚠ ** I took the right photo today to see where my body was at, the left photo is me one month ago hitting my all time lowest weight 77.7 and the right photo is me today 78.6kg. Ive been within the same 2kg for the last 6 weeks and in the beginning it look such a toll on my emotional state,no matter what I do lately the scale doesnt move. Its taken weeks to finally accept and remember that every 10kg Ive lost Ive hit a plateau, this time its just lasted the longest,ive also started to really focus on toning my body and making weighted exercise a part of my daily routine atleast 4 times a week which is something Ive always been afraid of doing. At first seeing these photos side by side I was devistated because it seemed like the scales nor my body were changing but upon closer inspection the biggest difference I see is my arms and that makes me want to cry. For the longest time my arms have been one of my biggest Insecurities, my tummy hasnt gotten a huge amount smaller but its more toned and less flabby and even my legs have started to gain shape not look like chicken drumsticks. At first I hesitated but I share this in hope to help one other person understand that every journey isnt straight success or completely positive experiences, we all have down days or struggles and to remind myself of where I started and the mental change of accepting chasing a number is unhealthy and is unrealistic has been such a big turning point for me. Focus on the change in how you feel not solely how you look and what the scales say . ⁣ TRANSFORMATION🔥 ⁣ I’ve learnt SO MUCH between these three photos training wise & nutritionally but most importantly mentally! The 3 go hand in hand. I’ve been through my ups & downs, learnt a lot about my body- what works, what doesn’t. Made many mistakes copying what others were doing COMPARING myself, but it was when I educated myself FOR MYSELF, to feel better and to look better BASED ON MY NEEDS & MY OWN BODY that things started to turn around. I started seeing the results I wanted, feeling better than ever, not restricting myself to the point of having to stay home because I couldn’t be around friends enjoying some good food, training to FEEL GOOD rather than to look a certain way‼️⁣ ⁣ Once I realized all of these factors and how they were affecting my mental state I decided to take initiative to change things for the better. So low key I’ve been working super hard in the gym and more importantly on my diet for the last 3 months. I’ve been sending @emmybulksgym progress photos every 3 weeks but have refrained from sharing anything publicly. 3 months seems like a good point to share. So I have been scared to death to post this picture !! Afraid of what people may say or think! Truth is I went through so much the past couple of years that I was just falling out of love with fitness. Top is current and start of my mini cut. - - I will be cycling 1600 calories Mon - Fri and have the flexibility of 2000 calories over the weekends. - - Basically, my current size isn’t helpful for a few reasons. 1. It’s not very aerodynamic for footy 2. It doesn’t put me in a great position to compete again anytime soon. 3. My work pants won’t fit me if I put on any weight 😂 4. I have a goal to take a bikini pic in an onsen in NZ and I wanna look like a mermaid and not a dugong - - I’ve been through a maintenance phase and have done a small deficit for 3 weeks. Getting back into my routines that have fallen apart over the last year. The goal for the mini cut is to drop about 5kg and sit somewhere a bit more in line with my goals. - - Oh and bottom photo was me at my lightest last year and 4kg lighter than I am now. I was pushing myself a bit hard through another prep I wasn’t ready for and put all the weight straight back on. What a difference a year makes. On this date in 2019 I received my first training plan from the amazing @bethhallfit from @teambossbodies and I think I actually may have cried trying to walk the next day. I decided to make a life change because I refused to turn 40 in a rut. Through tons of encouragement from family, friends and of course Beth I managed to shed weight, bring down my measurements, gain muscle, have healthy bloodwork readings and build mental grit and endurance. But it’s so much more than physical. I shed a ton of toxic people and thoughts from my life and learned to surround myself with people and experiences that are worth while. This weekend someone asked me the secret. There isn’t one. It’s hard work, consistency and balance. - 2 month update--M/19/65 Sw 345lbs cw 300lbs. Progress was slowed alittle with a broken hand but still down 20lbs since last month. Omad and a few extended fasts, the longest was an 8 day water fast, aswell as going to the gym almost every day

So today is day 30 only one cheat meal so far in the process. Started at 205lbs with stress eating and just kinda of a hopeless attitude about my body at the time. 5 years of squatting week after week. Anyone who has trained legs with me can tell you there is no structure to my leg training. However, the one thing that never changes is the squat. Wether it’s 2nd in the workout in the middle or dead last, we are squatting... and another thing, we progress with 45lb plates no 5s 10s or 25s. Post COVID Lockdown Results! Night shift worker? Busy mum and wife with 3 kids? If you dont have a plan or a routine in place it can be hard to achieve awesome results like this. Meet Bec, went into COVID lockdown like everybody else and gained some weight, dont forget the fact that Rebecca Violette is also a shift worker so her Circadian Rythem will be out of whack. Bec went full 2.0 and wanted to prove people wrong by getting a lot of success out of 2020 and has dropped 10 kgs since June. We knew her problems, but what we did was present her with some solutions. Bec Meal prepped every Sunday without fail, this sets her and the family up for the week. Thanks to Ken Watterston both of them got up at 4 am one weekend to get 18000 steps in, will never forget the look on Becs face when she told me this story 😂😂 Steps per day as we know improves N.E.A.T, in simple terms this improves calories burnt over a 24 hour period. Lastly, Bec trained x4 most weeks and made sure she went up in her lifts which helped her burn body fat. Transformation Thursdaaay and throwback Thursday! Through everything I’ve been through: my smile never left - 🖤 2015: 115, 9% bf- wear a kids XL In most clothing or else they’d be baggy- it was two weeks before I started having respiratory issues, 1 month before being diagnosed chronically ill. 3 hours of cardio every day, and that’s just gym time- not including walks and hiking with the Boogies. - 🖤 2017: 280 heaviest: when asthma was literally killing me and the doctors just kept pumping me full of steroids and not getting to the root of the respiratory issues. I updated my Will about 4 times between those two years, had over 45 hospitalizations last a week to almost two weeks depending, 150+ days spent in the ER room(not over nights) - 🖤 2020: 168, 56% muscle, 34% bf - finally had a doctor listen to me and what I KNOW works for me based on the progress I made during a trial run in 2016, I still have respiratory issues and asthma isn’t going away, I have 80% understanding of my triggers and when I need to keep it easy. I refuse steroids 1000% of the time and will drop a doctor quick if they don’t listen. - Upcycled this old dress into a summer top. What made this even more interesting was that this was the first dress I ever made, so I could compare my sewing skills progress from 7 years ago to now.

It took me a year and 9 months to finally convince myself to do so. As I was scrolling through Facebook one day, I stumbled across MorGainz Fitness Ignite 90 program. I read the testimonials, looked at all the before and after pictures and thought that maybe this is what I needed. So, in February 2020 I joined MorGainz Fitness Somerset and started Ignite 90. The first time meeting Kelly was a little intimidating (me at 4’10 and her at IDK.. seems like she is well over 6’ lol) However, it didn’t take long (5 minutes) and she made me feel so at ease. My goal going into this program was to lose inches, but gain strength! As I grow older, I find it harder and harder to maintain my strength and my overall weight. Kelly gave me all the tools to make this 90 day program work…workouts, food tips, apps..etc. I was doing great, then Covid hit, however, Kelly kept in touch and even offered at home workouts that helped keep my momentum going. I have now finished her program and I love how I look and feel. I have lost many inches/lbs and gained so much strength. I went into the gym wearing my son’s oversized t-shirts and now wear form fitting shirts!! Kelly kept me motivated and was always there if I had any questions. What a difference 10 years can make. In the left photo I was a Sophomore in college, getting ready to go to my college cheer winter banquet. I was about 20/21, in the process of joining a social all male fraternity and fresh out of living in the dorms and in a new apartment complex. I knew internally at this point that I was transgender, but would never let the idea be more than a passing thought. The next few years would be some of the greatest but also saddest years ive lived through. Greatest because I was able to learn so much about myself, about the world, furthered my education, met some of my closest friends in life. Saddest because I struggled with depression, was often angry over nothing but in retrospect was deflecting my own internalized anger I had with myself for neglecting my own truth of who I was. During the next 5 years I did a lot of soul searching, processing the idea that in order for me to live I would have to transition. I was in so much fear because I knew trans women were discriminated often and murdered for simply existing. I would wake up crying and in tears. On the outside i knew I had to act like I was okay and happy, but internally I was having the biggest war that I did not know how to fight on my own. The photo on the right was me yesterday, after a busy shift. Thriving, loving, learning, happy, growing and existing as my truest self. I dont know where I would be if I did not have the support of my friends, family and specially my mother. I have never been a fan of before and after photos, until a few years ago when I had a trans teenager reach out to say seeing before and afters from transition gave them hope for their own transition. To my trans siblings out there struggling to transition, have hope for a better future. Believe and love yourself so deeply, yes the journey will be difficult but I promise you it will get better. So I decided to change my ways even if I didn’t have faith it would work. I knew what I was doing was definitely not working so it couldn’t hurt. And to my surprise it was working. Slowly but surely. The weight started to shed. 1 lb at a time turned into 30 lbs. I have never been more thankful towards myself for reclaiming my power to take control of my circumstance and how I treat myself and my body. I have never been so into fitness in my life and fueling my body properly while still not feeling deprived, because your girl still loves her carbs and sweets. And I have never been so happy in my damn life. If you want to change you can. But only you can do it. No one else. And trust me there is no quick fix. A story that has gotten me through this year and a half: me and @jhouse182 were in the gym and I was trying to figure some excuse to get myself to quit dieting and just take it easy again. Going to the gym maybe once a week and eating double orange chicken and chow mein from Panda Express. I told jimmy some excuse and he looks me in the eye and says “short term fix vs long term fix. Pick your poison.” And it’s kept me going ever since. ———260 down to 187 pounds. A year and half ago I embarked on the journey to change my life for the better. I wasn’t happy with how I felt or looked, or the comments being made on my appearance. February 2018 • 3 months post getting off the birth control pill • hormones f*%ked • waking up exhausted, napping in the afternoon, constantly fatigued • anxiety through the roof • insomnia • cardio and some light weights • ovarian cysts and insane menstrual pain (in and out of hospital), losing LOTS of hair • not enjoying life because I felt so sh*tty March 2019 • found out a few months prior I have Endometriosis • 1 year into Holistic Healing • supporting my hormones, adrenals and mental health • weight lifting 2x / week 2020 • hormones balanced, in tune with my body • actively controlling my Endometriosis naturally • minimized and absent ovarian cysts • weight lifting 4 x a week • only cardio is walking the dogs • zero anxiety, sleeping 7-8 hours a night • listening to my body and honouring its needs • if I crave something I eat it, otherwise catch me eating protein, fibre and healthy fats at every meal • gluten-free, dairy on occasion • living a BALANCED life, enjoying 🍷 and good company Internal healing isn’t linear. I had so many issues physically and mentally in 2018 and they were not going to change over night. I originally wanted to go to school to be a Veterinarian and left because my anxiety was so bad. Well what are you going to do? Keep grinding on not getting the results you actually want?😩 • Between these 2 photos is 4.8lbs over the last few weeks from 2000 cals to 2600+ (not much difference but sure I’m heavier so I must be a fat heifer 🤪) my reasons for gaining are obviously different from yours but the same idea applies. You wana gain muscle? You gotta eat. You gotta train. 💪🏻 • Take a few months to work on getting those calories up if it applies to you. The scales will go up yes. But the scales don’t measure body fat. Your circumference measurements don’t measure body fat. It’s a tool. 📈 • Build your foundations and then you can chip back. I completed a thing over the weekend! • @andyfrisella ’s #75Hard program is a mental toughness challenge I decided to take on through quite an uncertain time. Prior to COVID-19, I felt like I was finally getting into a groove with my new life here in STL. Once everything hit, I spent quarantine working remotely where I was from near Chicago & it was difficult for me at first. Habits I built prior I felt were slipping, mentally I felt foggy, I started questioning where I was at in life and what I was doing, and overall I didn’t feel like I had a sense of control that I needed in order to capitalize on my growth. • This program isn’t for the faint of heart, but it was exactly what I needed to push through all the bullshit in my head and all around me. As time progressed, I ended up tacking on other challenges in addition to this one like running a 5k every single day in May, running 5 Distances In 5 Days (1 mile, 5k, 10k, 15k, half marathon...thanks @jeremy.d.mullins), and completing the 4x4x48 challenge (details in my most recent post). I truly think already progressing through #75Hard helped immensely with staying 110% consistent in everything else I endured those past couple of months. • People are so quick to make excuses for why they don’t want to do something when truth is, that’s only you being lazy to not find a solution and make it work. So much can be accomplished in a short amount of time if you buckle down and focus on what’s important. To many of you, the daily tasks I had to complete every single day might seem dumb or irrevalent, but each one has its own purpose. (Swipe through the photos to see an empty template with all of the rules.) From a physical standpoint, I completed this transformation solely through cardio and nutrition. While I missed the gym greatly, I didn’t let not having equipment deter me from my goals. From a mental standpoint, this is the best thing I did for myself. • For once, I feel like I have a healthier relationship with food. No alcohol, no cheat meals, and following a diet consistently day in and day out did a lot of good for me. I never felt the need to binge, and my cravings were low. LONG POST- but worth a read ☺️ For those who have been following along for a while, have probably seen that in 2014/2015 I started on a fitness journey where I lost 25kg. I was the fittest And lightest I’ve ever been. The ugly truth was I broke my body and mind in the pursuit. The physical scares are pretty evident, due to to insane loads I was pushing my body through, I messed up my knees to the point of needing major surgeries to correct patella alignment issues. I pushed through so much pain, some days barely being able to walk into the gym because of the pain (and not the good muscular pain), all to achieve the aesthetics I desired. It left me with no cartilage and bones just grinding away on each other. The psychological side of this journey was by far the worst though. In public, I was happy, bubbly and energetic, but behind closed doors I was a damn nightmare. I obsessed over every kilogram lost and gained. Weighed my food perfectly and would have complete meltdowns on the regular if my weight fluctuated and the scales weren’t tracking downward. I was addicted to the praise and compliments I was getting. When anyone voiced concerns about how much or how quickly I was loosing weight... yep, you guessed it, meltdown. I was toxic to myself, and to those closest to me. After hitting a wall and completely loosing interest in training, I basically just gave up. Yes, I kept active by walking 5-6km every day but my nutrition went out the window and I rebounded into old habits. Like everyone else on the planet, covid saw to gym closures and so added to the hiatus. I’m not going to be a preachy dickhead and this is my honest truth. I needed the time off to realise why I love working out. It’s true that you don’t truely appreciate something until it’s gone. In June I moved into the city and started at a brand new gym. Now, stay with me here I know that the words I’m about to say can be somewhat divisive... I do CrossFit now. *bah bah bahhhhh* 😬 like I said, not here to be a preachy dickhead, I DO NOT expect you to drink the Cool-aid and join my cult. This is my new fitness journey restarts.
