You’ve heard of Madison Square Garden I, II, III & IV? - how many know about the “jinxed” $132,000 Madison Square Garden Bowl (1932-1942) in Queens? Madison Square Garden Bowl was the name of an outdoor arena in the New York City borough of Queens. Built in 1932, the arena hosted circuses and boxing matches. Its seating capacity was 72,000 spectators on wood bleachers. The idea of the stadium came from boxing promotor Tex Rickard who died before it was completed. The Bowl, located at 48th Street and Northern Boulevard in Long Island City, was the site where James J. Braddock defeated Max Baer for the World Heavyweight title on June 13, 1935 -- a fight later dramatized in the film Cinderella Man. Braddocks first comeback fight against John Corn Griffin was also in the venue. Jack Sharkey and Primo Carnera also captured the heavyweight crown in the 1930s at the Bowl. But because no titleholder ever successfully defended his title there, the stadium was soon dubbed the Jinx Bowl. The Madison Square Garden Bowl was torn down during World War II to make way for a US Army Mail Depot (and also because arena management deemed it more economical to rent baseball stadiums for fights). Metal from the stadium was melted down to make bullets and other war materials, including those to build the Mail Depot. We Love this blast from the past photo! Arlington future with stadiums and entertainment goes way back. This picture is of the Turnpike Stadium prior to opening in 1965 as a minor league baseball stadium with 10,000 seat capacity. The Fort Worth Cats of the Texas League moved there as the Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs, and played there for the next seven years, setting many Texas League attendance records, especially after it expanded to 20,500 seats in 1970. It was built to @mlb specs at the time to attract a major league team. In 1971 the then Washington Senators announced their move to Arlington Texas and the rest is history! It starts with a gas fuelled power plant in the Hunter Valley. The free market won’t touch a new coal or gas plant, they’re totally uneconomic so instead it will be your taxpayer dollars building it. The power station is just the start. The Australian Gas Hub in Wallumbilla, Queensland will be fed by five gas basins, and it will be pumped out through pipelines paid for by... guess who? You. The expansion will cost billions of public money, will benefit multinational gas giants, create fuck all jobs, suck the landscape dry and will lock in generations of carbon emissions, waving goodbye to any kind of meaningful climate action. These things can’t be un-fucking-built. They will burn for decades. And all this while the cleanest, most economic option is sitting there ready to go. The only problem with that is Morrison’s mates in the fossil fuel lobby want renewables crushed. He began filling it in with residential coal ash through contracts with the NYC Department of Sanitation and the Brooklyn Ash Removal Company. The port plan never materialized and the area remained for several decades the wasteland immortalized as the “valley of ashes” in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby (1925). • Very recently we visited the 2014 FIFA World Cup stadium Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, Brazil. Today we travel four years forward in time, and about a 10.500 kilometers to the northeast, which makes us end up in Kaliningrad. This city is the capital of the Russian exclave Oblast Kaliningrad, isolated by the borders of Lithuania, Poland and the Baltic Sea. Basically Kaliningrad is a very average Russian city, with some small nice attractions. But by far the greatest highlight definitely has to be the stunning Kaliningrad Stadium, which we are visiting today. Of course we all know this stadium as host during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as the stadium hosted four group stage matches during the tournament. The stadium didnt become entirely useless afterwards like other World Cup stadiums sometimes do, as it took over the duty of the old Baltika Stadium. This stadium, located elsewhere in the city, was the former home of FC Baltika Kaliningrad, who play at the @stadiumkgd nowadays. This club is competing in the Russian Football National League, the second highest level in the Russian football pyramid. The stadium also sometimes hosts matches of the Russian national team, but thats quite exceptional. As you might understand, @fcbaltika is only a small club, maybe even a little too small to play such a massive and glamorous stadium. Mostly therefor is why there are serious plans to renovate the Kaliningrad Stadium, which will decrease its capacity from 35.000 to 25.000. If you want to be ahead to this, make sure you get your hands on a ticket before the renovations, as the beautiful Kaliningrad Stadium is on the list for sure! Arch students Libby Pelzel and Roberto Dian Manzanares for winning a student award in the 2020 Aspire Design Awards for their project Resilient Bionomics, completed under professors David Franco, Dustin Albright, and Dan Harding for their 2020 Comprehensive Studio. “We looked at Anderson’s vision for the future and identified key themes that we wanted to address within our project. Because the site is located in a residential area close to downtown, our aim was to design a space that would be safe, recreational, and inviting, in order to connect the surrounding neighborhoods and the community of Anderson at large. How can a project of this magnitude fit within its context - how can it have a presence without being too imposing? How might we educate people about sustainable strategies so that energy production and conservation can be decentralized within the community? As ownership of the trade and learned skills develop, The community can re-interpret its identity as the Electric City. Our goal is to connect the community and revitalize the brownfield through a system that could serve the city over time. The size and location of the site also presents a unique opportunity to address the issue of urbanization and the resulting decrease in biodiversity. As Anderson continues to grow, there needs to be an awareness to maintain recreational green spaces. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was directed by Michael Bay with cinematography by Ben Seresin, ASC. Following through on its promise to be a sequel, the story is told through explosions, gunfire, and loud vrooming noises set to voice-over in a nod to its core audience. Today we’re taking a look at lighting the first fight scene of the film, which takes place at night and sets up the premise of the plot: Fallen Transformers are out for Revenge. To acquire this crucial bit of dialogue, lots of army men and sentient cars drive around dodging explosions and shooting at one another. All of this took place on location at the Bethlehem Steel Campus in Bethlehem, PA. The factory had shut down years before in 1995, so there was plenty of room to drive fast cars and blow stuff up. The entire campus is 10 acres, but the set was contained to 16,000 square feet. Lighting this scene involved four nights of pre-lighting, three Bebee trucks, and 11 generators. One of the biggest challenges to this location was lighting the five, quarter-mile high, furnace stacks so they stood out in the night and rigging lights at their tops. Because there was so much movement and so many explosions, cameras were everywhere, which meant that all lighting on the ground needed to look purposeful. The stacks were lit from their bases with 12 Light Maxi Brutes and mini-nine lights to up-light them, while 12K LRX heads were rigged from the top to act as spotlights. Additionally, a Blackhawk helicopter was rigged with a xenon spotlight manned by @iatselocal728 members Erica Kim @itsericakim and Michael Schwartz to operate the focus as the explosions, guns, and cars whirled about below. मूंदी भारत के मध्य प्रदेश के पूर्व निमाड़ खंडवा जिले में स्थित एक प्रमुख शहर है। समुद्र तल से 900 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर है। यह शहर नर्मदा घाटी के पास बसा है।यह शहर पूर्व निमाड़ के उत्तर दिशा मे स्थित है।यह शहर का आकार पूर्व मे अंगूठी या गोला आकार मे बसा होने के कारण इसका नाम मुंदड़ी से मूंदी रखा गया था।यह शहर अतिप्राचीन काल से बसा हुआ है मान्यताओ अनुसार यहाँ पर महाभारत काल के समय पांडव यहॉ आए थे एवं उन्होने यहां पर लोटेश्वर एवं कोटेश्वर मंदिर की स्थापना की थी।इसी काल के एक और ऐतिहासिक मॉ रेणुका धाम भी है जो यह सिद्ध करता है की यह शहर काफी पुराना है।यह वही क्षेत्र है जहाँ संत सिगांजी ने अपनी समाधि ली थी एवं उनके शिष्यो की भी समाधि यही स्थापित है। इस शहर के नजदीक ही राजा हरसवर्धन के द्वारा बसाया गया था हरसूद जो की अब इंदिरा सागर परियोजना बांध मे डूब गया है।यहां अनेक प्राचीन मुर्तियाँ एवं स्थान आज भी मौजूद है जो की इस शहर के पुरातनता को सवारे हुए हैं।मडी,गडी,रेणुका धाम, कोटेश्वर एवं लोटेश्वर मंदिर यहां की पुरातन धरोहर है। एतिहासिक तथ्य प्राचीन मान्यताओं के अनुसार मूँदी शहर का नाम मुन्द्री {गोल आकर या अंगुुठी } पर रखा था. मान्यतानुसार पांडवो ने यहा पर लोटॆॆश्वर व कोतेश्वर मंदिर बनवाया था जो की माँ रॆणुका माता मंदिर के पास स्थित है अतः मूँदी मान्यता अनुसार हजारों वर्ष पुराना है। 12वीं शताब्दी में यह नगर जैन मत का महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान था। यह नगर पुरातन नगर है, यहाँ पाये जाने वाले अवशेषों से यह सिद्ध होता है| यह पर जैन मुर्तियाँ भी पायी गयी थी 1864 से यह नगर मध्य प्रदेश के नवगठित निमाड़ ज़िले मॆॆ स्थित है । 1985 में इसे नगर परिषद बना दिया गया। यह शहर उत्तर-पश्चिमी मे ओंकारेश्वर , सनावद, बड़वाह पूर्व मे छनेरा व दक्षिण मे खंडवा शहर से जुड़ा हुआ है। मूंदी शहर की स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था मुख्य रूप से कृषि और व्यापार पर आधारित है। आसपास के क्षेत्र की मुख्य फसल गेहूं, कपास और सोयाबीन हैं। मूंदी शहर के नजदीक बीड़ ग्राम मे कपास उपमण्डी मनाई गई है जिसका संचालन मूंदी, उपज मंडी से होता है। इसके अलावा 2010 मे मध्यप्रदेश पॉवर जनरेटीग कंपनी द्वारा मूंदी क्षेत्र में संत सिगांजी पॉवर प्लांट स्थापित किया है जिससे यहां का व्यापार व रोजगार बढ़ा है।एवं निरंतर उन्नती विकास बढ़ रहा है आने वाले समय मे यहां सिमेंट प्लांट स्थापित होना प्रस्तावित है। पर्यटन स्थल के तौर पर पर्यटको को यहां पर हनुवंतिया वाटर स्पोर्ट् , संत सिंगाजी धाम, एवं रेणुका मंदिर, कोटेश्वर मंदीर, लोटेश्वर मंदिर स्थापित हैं। #mundi - @khandwa_mp12 on Instagram

Photos of constructing new light towers and beacons for the 1980s for the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service. We performed hooker diving to set the feet for the scaffolding which we then poured the foundations for the new lights concrete legs. We would have someone on shark watch, although we also had to contend with stone-fish, stingrays, sea snakes and deadly stingers. In one photo you can see how we used a ginpole for the steel erection rigging, this is very old school seamanship/rigging not used very often then.
