#DidYouKnow that Kelpler-22b was the first exoplanet to be found within a habitable zone? (The right distance from a star for a planet to have water!) “Mars - Sattvam Sattvam is strength of character. Character is nothing more than the manner in which an individual expresses themselves in life. The strength with which one does this is Mars. Said another way, the strength which with one lives his convictions is Mars. The Jiva, the living individual, as we have seen is found as part of the Manas and is thus represented by the Moon. How one perceives the world is represented by the Moon and thus an individual’s convictions are also formed by the Moon. Mars thus represents the strength with which we express that which is in our consciousness, which is much the same as saying that Mars is the strength with which we live our convictions. Mars is, therefore, the strength with which we express our Moon, our individuality, our convictions, our character.” Ernst Wilhelm, Graha Sutras - @shellybe_ on Instagram

In what could be a major space breakthrough, a group of researchers from the U.S. and China have, for the very first time, found evidence for the existence of a potential planet outside the Milky Way Galaxy. If this discovery is confirmed, the said planet will be named M51-ULS-1b. The first ever exoplanet—a planet outside our solar system—was found in the year 1992. Since then, thousands of exoplanets have been discovered, but this is the first time an extragalactic planet, i.e. a potential planet outside our galaxy, has been discovered. This new world is situated approximately 23 million light-years away from the Earth, and lies within the M51 Whirlpool Galaxy, which is located relatively close to Ursa Major. . . . #space #galaxy #milkyway #saturn #solarsystem #spacenews #weather #weatherchannel #theweatherchannel - @weatherindia on Instagram

- @visionbusiness_oficial on Instagram

If you ever found yourself on Venus, you’d be destroyed in moments. The pressure at the surface is thought to be up to 100 times greater than what is found on Earth, temperatures are around 464 °C, and the air is more than 96% carbon dioxide. And yet, life on Venus suddenly isn’t the most unimaginable possibility. A new paper published in Nature Astronomy Monday reveals that Venus’s clouds contain traces of phosphine. The new findings are far from evidence that there once was or still is life on Venus (an extremely inhospitable planet in more ways than one), but its presence nonetheless suggests there’s some sort of unknown activity happening there, biological or otherwise. The new findings suggest that if life ever existed on Venus, either now or in the past, it might actually be present in the air itself. Whos in the mood for Pi? A newly-discovered exoplanet sitting 186 light-years away from us has been coined π Earth by its Discoverers because its around the same size as Earth, and takes an incredibly short 3.14 days to orbit around its star. Officially named K2-315b, its close proximity to its star unfortunately means that it has little to no chance of harboring life even at its high speed, because its surface is estimated to be a sweltering 180 degrees Celsius. . . . #Planetpi #PiEarth #Astronomy #Astronomyfacts #Space #Stars #Planets #Spacefact #K2315b #Exoplanet #Rockyplanet #DiscoveryFacts - @discovery_seasia on Instagram

Signs of life on Venus? An international team of astronomers today announced the discovery of a rare molecule — phosphine — in the clouds of Venus. On Earth, this gas is only made industrially or by microbes that thrive in oxygen-free environments. Astronomers have speculated for decades that high clouds on Venus could offer a home for microbes — floating free of the scorching surface but needing to tolerate very high acidity. Confirming their discovery required using 45 antennas of the @alma.observatory in Chile, in which the European Southern Observatory (ESO) is a partner. The international team, which includes researchers from the UK, US and Japan, estimates that phosphine exists in Venus’s clouds at a small concentration, only about twenty molecules in every billion. Following their observations, they ran calculations to see whether these amounts could come from natural non-biological processes on the planet. Some ideas included sunlight, minerals blown upwards from the surface, volcanoes, or lightning, but none of these could make anywhere near enough of it. These non-biological sources were found to make at most one ten thousandth of the amount of phosphine that the telescopes saw. The team believes their discovery is significant because they can rule out many alternative ways to make phosphine, but they acknowledge that confirming the presence of “life” needs a lot more work. Although the high clouds of Venus have temperatures up to a pleasant 30 degrees Celsius, they are incredibly acidic — around 90% sulphuric acid — posing major issues for any microbes trying to survive there. For more information check the link in bio. Image credit: @esoastronomy /M. Amazing shot of Saturn & our Moon 🌚😍. On the morning of May 14, 2014, the dance of the solar system brought together two unlikely partners: our Moon, and Saturn.
