🎉 This time last year we acquired a significant treasure - the St Marys Figure of Christ. The 13th Century figurine was made in Limoges, France, which was the most well-known European centre for champlevé enamel production during this period. The date ties in with a major phase of rebuilding at St Mary’s Abbey (1271 – 1294) during which the remains that can still be viewed today were built. It might be presumed that this object was acquired to furnish this newly built and richly appointed building. Figurines like these were made to be mounted on an enamelled cross, now missing, which would have decorated a religious object such as a manuscript cover or a casket. Very few medieval objects, least of all from Limoges, have a known provenance linking them to a major English Abbey as few survived the Dissolution of the Monasteries of the 1530s. It was rediscovered in 1826, just before the Yorkshire Philosophical Society acquired the land to build the Yorkshire Museum. Prior to this the land was fallow land used for grazing. 📌 Oggi vogliamo raccontarvi alcune curiosità su questa particolare coppia di statuette “ibeji” proveniente presso gli Yoruba della Nigeria. Questi manufatti Ibeji sono di colorazione rossastra sui corpi e scura sui volti. Si presentano in posizione eretta, con gli arti disposti simmetricamente e le mani sui fianchi, con un medaglione inciso sui petti e poggiano su una base circolare decorata a spina di pesce. I volti, segnati da incisioni, mostrano un’acconciatura a cresta sagittale, ornati da collane indossate al collo e intorno ai fianchi. Pur trattandosi di raffigurazioni di bambini, gli ibeji rappresentano i gemelli con fattezze da adulti e possono essere sculture singole o, come in questo caso, presentarsi in coppie. Estremamente rari, invece, sono i gruppi di tre o più figure. 👉🏻 Presso gli Yoruba nigeriani la nascita di gemelli era considerata (fino allepoca precoloniale) un evento nefasto, unintrusione dellanimalità nella sfera della riproduzione umana. Per questo i gemelli venivamo prontamente abbandonati, riconsegnandoli al mondo della boscaglia da cui si riteneva provenissero. 🔎 In tempi più recenti la loro venuta al mondo si è mutata in un segno di prosperità e ricchezza, dando vita ad un culto della figura dei gemelli. In caso di morte di uno o entrambi i figli, era uso che la madre facesse scolpire una statuetta a immagine del piccolo scomparso e se ne prendesse cura: lavandola, nutrendola, vestendola e portandola con sé in grembo, perché depositaria dello spirito del defunto. I gemelli conservano comunque un lato oscuro: il culto che si rivolge loro serve a placarne lo spirito. تشريعات_حورمحب (1) و قبل ان ندخل فى تشريعات و قوانين حورمحب يجب ان نعرف من هو هذا الشخص الذى انقذ مصر. نشأ حور إم حب فى بلدة (حات نسوت) و هى العاصمه الدينيه للاقليم الثامن عشر من اقاليم الصعيد و الذى يعرف بأسم (سبا) و مكان حات نسوت تقع حاليا بالقرب من بلدة الشيخ فضل على البر الشرقى للنيل فى محافظه المنيا و على اغلب الظن ان والد حورمحب كان حاكما على هذا الاقليم و قد خلفه حورمحب فى حكم هذا الاقليم . هو من اهم المشرعين فى التاريخ المصرى القديم و هو خليفه الملك (آى) الذى جاء بعد توت عنخ امون و سمنخ كا رع اخو توت الاكبر . جاء بعد موت امنحوتب الثالث عدة ملوك ضعاف لم يحسنوا ادارة شئون الدوله فإضطربت السياسه الداخليه و الخارجيه و اختل النظام و تفشى الظلم حتى أن العاصمه المصريه طيبه فقدت قوتها الحربيه و اختل نظام الامن فيها و ذلك لان الملك اخناتون الذى تولى العرش بعد موت ابيه كان منصرفا للعبادة و صراعاته الداخليه بسبب الثورة الدينيه فى العقيدة المصريه التى صنعها فأضطربت شئون الدوله من ناحيه و ثار كهنه امون المعبود الرسمى للدوله من ناحيه اخرى فشاعت الفوضى فى عهد الملوك الضعاف ماعدا الوقت القصير الذى حكم فيه توت عنخ امون الذى حاول جاهدا ان يعيد الاستقرار لكن حياته انقضت قبل ان تبدأ . كان حورمحب قائد للجيش فى عهد اخناتون و فى عهد من خلفه من الملوك و بعد ان رأى كل هذا الظلم الذى تفشى فى انحاء الدوله و اصبح يعرف بكل رغبات ابناء وطنه و كان قد عرف كل نواحى الخلل و الفساد فى الدوله و من ثم اتخذ حورمحب مظهر الزعيم الشعبى الذى جاء لإنقاذ البلاد من الظلم . و فعلا و بعد ان كسب رضاء كهنة امون و تأييد الشعب و ولاء رجال الجيش استطاع بحكمته ان يجلس على العرش و يصبح ملكا على مصر. حورمحب لا يمت الى سلاله ملوك الاسرة الثامنه عشر ولا يعتبر من اصل ملكى و لما كان من المعروف ان كل رجل قوى و حكيم يأتى بعد عهد من عهود الفوضى و يؤسس عهدا جديدا تسود فيه سلطة الدوله فإن حورمحب بناءا على ذلك يعتبر المؤسس الحقيقى للأسرة التاسعة عشر و هذة هى النظريه التى يرجحها كثير من علماء المصريات . يعتبر ايضا حور محب هو الذى وضع اساس سياسة مملكة الرعامسة و ان كان خلفه على العرش ملك من غير صلبه و لا يمت إليه بصله و إنما كان وزيرا له و هو الذى عرف بعد ذلك بأسم رمسيس الاول . يتبع By Mostafa Nasar - @luxor.city on Instagram
