I always dabbled in different mediums of art, which eventually led me to study film in college. While I was there, I started to notice some patterns in my classes: 1) I was always 1 of maybe 3 black students in class and 2) black cinema was never included in the syllabus, despite how influential it is to film history and beyond. Like “Do The Right Thing” by Spike Lee is one of the most formative films about the perpetual state of racism in America. How is this not required viewing? It’s been 3 years since I’ve graduated, and now we’re not only calling to abolish the police, but we’re also demanding reparations for black artists who have been underpaid and overshadowed by our white counterparts. — As I use this time to reflect on the current movement and my identity, I made a list of 100 films (that I’ve personally seen outside of film school) focused on the African diaspora. Not to my surprise, some of these films had a white director, but I decided to only highlight the black cast and crew if that was the case. We need to continue centering and recognizing Black artists. — Disclaimer: This list is not exhaustive! Hawaiian rights. Such an interesting topic, because well, according to the United States we have none, we are merely part of the Native American Population, a displaced people’s....wards of the state. (we are no where near America, how they can call us American Indians is beyond me, we are PACIFIC) They like to forget that we aren’t just “native” or “indigenous” we in fact are more, we have more. While I agree to the fact that I am native, the definition of those words from a legal stand point is very different from our current understanding of it. Those terms imply that we weren’t a unified country, we were simply, living out of our grass shacks with no real direction or leader, when in fact we know that to be false. Our Hawaiian Kingdom was recognized by the world as a sovereign state (country), we have treaties with many different countries all asserting our independence and ability to govern our selves on an International scale. The Hawaiian Kingdom was part of the nation of families (a precursor to the untied nations), and we were the first non European monarchy to be recognized on a global scale. We were NUETRAL before Switzerland was neutral AND had universal HEALTH CARE! We even had the highest literacy rate in the world at one time....so what happened? A team of wealthy insurgents backed by the American navy happened. They threatened our queen and over threw our government. (Country still exists though!) the queen conditionally stepped down, in order to spare the lives of her people, faithfully trusting that The president of America at the time would amend their wrong doings. He never did, however further down the line, president cleveland, admitted that the forecful occupation of our country was in fact an ACT OF WAR. Hawaii has been operating under a state of war ever since. This is history. These are facts purposefully NOT taught in schools as part of a denationalization program that has been in effect since the Spanish American war. So what about our laws? Our rights? The first step is education, we need to educate our children and ourselves so we can begin to hold the fraudulent state and US government accountable for their war crimes. - @cheyennekanani on Instagram

We grew on south beach and 1st was the meet up spot. Rent was cheap but the living was high. Surfing Sk8 fishing diving was our life. At this point in time a turning point was developing, the beach started to go through a met·a·mor·pho·sis the innocence started to fade. So much happened on that block. The gentrification rushed in. The rents went up over night, and the poor got pushed up to 71st. Now it’s one of the richest parts of town. Where the Apogee stands now is where public housing use to stand where the rent would be as low as $50 a month to where as now the rent there is easily 20k a month. Kalaupun itu terjadi, maka sebenarnya itu hanya efek dari keberkahan hajinya yang mabrur. Menjaga lisan dan tutur kata yang baik adalah sikap respect tertinggi. Sebaliknya, Karena lisan lah prahara dan konflik kebanyakan terjadi. Ia lebih tajam dari pedang dan menghunjam ke relung jiwa dalam waktu yang panjang. Sikap berbagi (sedekah) adalah sikap empati kepada kekurangan dan kesulitan orang lain. sedekah juga dapat menolak bala, menambah harta, obat bagi penyakit, mendatangkan keberkahan, menghindarkan kematian yg buruk, dan tentunya mengundang berkah dan rahmat Allah. This is big news because it was recently discovered that there is a new mother population of coffee known as Yemenia, and this is it! Why is this important? Well, this breakthrough introduces a new variety under Coffea Arabica, in addition to the ones we know and love (others being Ethiopian acessions, Typica Bourbon, SL-34, and SL-17). This also, according to @qimacoffee “represents an ocean of unexplored genetics and future varieties that have the potential to reshape the world of arabica for centuries to come.” Thanks to Qima and @cupofexcellence for bringing light to this coffee.
