episode 1.07 end of cancer season: last qtr moon in aries, performance vs embodiment These have been two concepts I have juggled in my mind for years. These last few months everything I’ve experienced has been a challenge to embody every I claim to believe. It makes it very easy to see performative behavior, but it also brings to light how difficult it is to exist in an embodied way. In this structure we are valued based on performance not our embodiment. I just finished @riseupgoodwitch Tarot Summer School and the 6s in the tarot have stuck out the most. As a 33/6 life path part of my mission is to understand is this dichotomy. In the 6 of Wands the performance of solidarity is so evident. It’s not about other people it’s about how you did a thing because “you’re an ally.” You said the right thing when it was acceptable. You posted the right picture. You signed the right petition. With the 6 of Swords, it is the deep sense of responsibility that we have to other people that guides our process and desire to delve into the work which is not as glamour or fun as posting a black out photo or starting an anti-racism book club. It’s decolonizing your network, acknowledging how you have used power to harm, how you have gatekeeped or when you were silent. It’s about accountability. When we are responsible to others what does that require us to see about ourselves? What are the things that we feel or ways that behave that don’t make us a “good person”? Where are we imperfect? We were not raised in a vacuum, we all have been colonized and it is our personal responsibility to break free. Despite how gross the reflection in the mirror is. This is a week that will bring this challenge to the forefront. We can examine our power and privilege. Extend compassion to yourself, but do not runway. This is the work. I was recently lucky to collaborate on a most extreme snowboarding film featuring the incredible talent of @travisrice along with also talented director and good friend @curtismorgan. In Dark Matter Travis and @eliaselhardt conquer some of the gnarliest Alaskan mountains. My work on the film was mostly vfx where I worked with Curt to transform daytime footage into an astro nightscape as well as removing Travis entirely in the ghost sections. #ReleasedOnThisDate. September 23, 1970. Today marks the 50th anniversary of The Allman Brothers Bands release of their second studio album Idlewild South. Recorded at Capricorn Studios in Macon, Criteria Studios in Miami and Regent Sound Studios in New York City. Produced by Tom Dowd. After the release of their debut album in November 1969, the band hit the road, playing more than 300 shows in 1970. The album title comes from the bands nickname for the cabin the band rented for rehearsals and parties in rural Lizella, GA. According to Dickey, There was so much traffic in and out of there, we named it after Idlewild Airport in New York. The record was recorded gradually, with band members reconvening in the studio on days off in between shows, or when Duane was called away to do session work. Producer Tom Dowd heard the band in Macon, and had Phil Walden bring them to Miami to record. Instead of using multi-track recording, the group opted to cut the songs live, with all the musicians playing together. The album opens and closes with the twin guitar sound that Duane and Dickey were known for. It features the first songs written by Dickey Betts (Revival, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed) and the only ABB song that featured Berry Oakley on lead vocals (Hoochie Coochie Man). The most recognized song is Greggs Midnight Rider, co-written with lyrics from roadie Kim Payne. Upon the albums release, reviews were mostly positive. Electric blues with an acoustic texture, virtuoso lead, slide and organ playing on a killer selection of songs. @thrill_touch is releasing our live set with @hlp.tv on Friday, premiered by @beinabandordie! So many amazing people are involved in this release and I’m incredibly thankful we’re able to put this out 🌸 This release, to me, represents a time where everything felt like it was finally falling into place after a long period of nothing going right. Writing these songs was chaotic. Everything was breaking and we were always too broke to fix them. We we’re jumping from space to space and lived too far from each other for anything to be easy. My car was always breaking down, I was always getting tickets and I barely made enough money eat let alone pay those off. But suddenly these songs just clicked, and I think the new tracks reflect all those emotions raging in us through that time. Frustration, anger and anxiety mixed moments of bliss, back to frustration and repeat. NEW RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT This Sunday 24th May we release the new split EP from some of Manchesters noisier residents, @chermansog and @adrian3six . A 5-track split EP that was formed by the two artists sending samples back and forth to one another to use as tools to build new sonic formations out of. Sparing themselves conversation regarding intentions or common themes related to these sounds, the tracks are built from exploring these samples as materials in and of themselves. As a physical media collector, these are the types of things that get me excited. I’ve been waiting for a release of Ari Aster’s Midsommar Director’s Cut since seeing it in theaters a year ago. I love the fact that A24 keeps collectors in mind by releasing high quality products like this. Busy today mixing up orders but I wanted to get the ball rolling for the autumnal reveals. The date for the next stock is TBA still but itll probably be next week. So... CRAIGH NA DUN FACE OIL! This scent will be a favourite with Outlander fans, who might recognise the name from the circle of standing stones that work a strange sort of magic, but also, with anyone who likes fresh, herbaceous scents in general! Craigh na Dun features a base of rain-dampened heather and chamomile flowers-- gentle and enduring, with heart notes of sage and fresh rosemary, with the faint aroma of an apothecarys shed, with other drying spices hanging from the ceiling. The face oil is made of a combination of eight different oils (which you can read more about in our Face Oils highlight) and this will also have rosemary and other plant extracts to boost in helping reduce inflammation and redness and soothe chronic skin conditions. This scent is not too floral, sweet or musky, so the fresh greenery is an ideal gift for anyone (including yourself!) - This restock will be a bit different in that Ill be pre-making the items (the autumn trio of perfumes and six face/hair/skin products that all stand as individual) so theyll be ready to ship much quicker (if you stick to items in the restock!)
